Would you recommend the poppy war? I hesitate a lot about buying it or not

if you like grimdark go for it. it has its flaws (characterization) like every book #1 in a series/debut but overall it's really well done fantasy with great magic system and interesting story. i also picked it up because i don't know many (adult) fantasy books inspired by Chinese culture that wouldn't be retellings so that itself is unique for me. i definitely don't regret reading it and will for sure read the dragon republic when it's out in my country.

and a few pages of The Lives They Left Behind: Suitcases from a State Hospital Attic
Going to finish at least one of my three books today.
