A suspenseful mystery set against the background of a children's pysch ward.

Love the dark, sardonic humour of Dexter!

More chilling than scary. Clearly Gardner spent some time researching the range of problems the kids had either as a result of abuse, neglect or mental illness and the extent these problems would have on their families and future lives.

Another great satire with the witches doing battle with a family of vampires.

Another great debut novel by an Aussue author. Can't believe it's been sitting on the shelf for at least a year!

Love this historical mystery series set in the reign of Henry VIII! Has also been sitting on the shelf for way too long!

An excellent YA fantasy novel featuring dragons (but not as you know them)!

They're my bedtime reading so it can take me a while to get through one.
I have to go and see if I can find a new SF or Fantasy one to start to fit this month's challenge :)

A fun kids/YA story set in Discworld. Lots of fun with dancing, talking rats, evil rat catchers and a strange girl with a vivid imagination called Malicia.

Expected to like this quirky, humorous thriller about a demonic cat but it just didn't work for me.

A sweeping saga imaging the early colonisation of Mars.

A fun, light mystery and a good start to a series I shall be reading more of.

Very enjoyable, although I think High Fidelity is still my favourite book by Nick Hornby.

Set in a beautiful, ethereal watery world. Great debut novel.

A bit of a tear jerker about mothers and daughters and BFFs!

Different to A Man Called Ove but great characters and a great story. Loved it!

An excellent start to the Wallender series. I really like Henning's straightforward thoughtful writing and empathy for his characters.

Excellent novel about a man trying to save his marriage and his relationship with his son through a 'grand tour' of Europe.

Will need to pick up speed a bit if I'm going to make it to 50 paperbacks by the end of the year :)

I find that hard to believe Brenda! Maybe you need to work some into the challenges :)

Delightful short cosy crime stories on which the even better BBC series Grantchester is based!
