A book I read some time in the late 2010s about a boy during the 1950s or 60s. At one point he and possibly his family are captured by the government and held in cages? Possibly before that, he sees a stage set up where the government is broadcasting a faked version of the moon landing. He walks out onto the set and waves at the camera, proving that it's fake. There's a bunch of ink illustrations in the book, including one four-panel one of a rat or mouse dying, being eaten by maggots, and decomposing to a skeleton. I think it might have had a one-word title, but I'm not sure.
