Salome | 35 comments I need a good series to start and am open to suggestions! I tend to be most drawn to Urban Fantasy but also enjoy Dystopian and Paranormal Fantasy. I want something that can be a fast read but that is not totally predictable or too juvenile. Something a little steamy is always fun too. :)

Some of the books I've read:
Hunger Games (loved it)
Sweet Trilogy (super sexy, loved it)
The Selection (little disappointed in the direction it took, but really liked Maxon)
Mortal Instruments (first three were great, last three were okay)
Infernal Devices (loved it, despite being a period piece)
Legend (liked it a lot)
Matched (not a fan)
Under the Never Sky (predictable, but enjoyable)
Wicked (predictable, but very steamy)
Lux series (a little bit too "Twilighty" but still enjoyable)
Divergent (first book was great! Each book following got progressively worse)

I may have missed some, but you get the idea. I appreciate your feedback and suggestions! :)

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 538 comments Have you tried:

The Testing (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau - not steamy at all, but I REALLY enjoyed it.

Archetype by M.D. Waters - this is steamy, distopian, and sci-fi kind of mashed up with a thriller. I really enjoyed it.

Switch (New World, #1) by Janelle Stalder Masked (New World, #2) by Janelle Stalder Tested (New World, #3) by Janelle Stalder
I don't recall it starting out so steamy (I could be wrong, it's been a little while since I read the 1st book)... but it's like PNR Dystiopian New Adult mash-up. I like it, a little different.

Beyond the Night (Envy Chronicles, #1) by Joss Ware VERY adult, kind of paranormal meets dystopian meets time travel meets... hell if I know, but I did enjoy it - not fall-at-my-feet great, but not bad

Salome | 35 comments Thanks! Steamy is not a necessity, it's just fun sometimes. I'll take a non-steamy unpredictable book over a steamy predictable one any day!

Switch looks very interesting!!! I think I may just check that out! Thanks!!! :)

Cindy (cindy883) | 28 comments Dystance Winter's Rising by Mark Tufo This was a great read that I think falls into what you seem to like:)

Royal_kiss | 4 comments If interested in dystopia-Angel Theme, try reading "Angelfall". The plot was something unusual, unpredictable but very enjoyable!

JoAnne How about Kat Richardson's Greywalker (Greywalker, #1) by Kat Richardson ...it's a cool series.

message 8: by Salome (new)

Salome | 35 comments Angelfall is actually on my to-read list! Is the series complete? I hate starting series that aren't done yet.

message 9: by Royal_kiss (new)

Royal_kiss | 4 comments No, unfortunately they are not done yet. (I'm waiting for the third book).
But it is Sooo Good you have to start asap. :D

Jenna | 53 comments Have you tried Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series? It's awesome.

message 11: by Danielle (new)

Danielle I have to second Kate Daniels Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews 8 books complete and the story is finished but they are writing another one. Not sure what that is about. I really like everything that Ilona Andrews has written.

Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs also possibly more books to come but 8 or 9 books in the series

Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne I think there are 6 or 7 books in this one.

Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop only 2 books out in this one but I am loving it. Third one due out next year. This one has more of a dystopia feel to it even though it is more fantasy.

Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris is definitely complete. This is the series that got me started down this UF path that I am now addicted to.

Dexx Peay (dexxpeay) | 6 comments Salome, you can check out my Urban Fantasy series. The first book is out and the second one comes out in a few weeks. College kids, superpowers, finals, all that jazz. lol. Let me know if interested. It's called "The Chronicles of Fire and Ice: The Revealing"

message 13: by Tèo (new)

Tèo Sip | 1 comments Kate Daniels Series has 10 books in total, there are 7 so far. I'm not sure about it being a "fast read", I finished it in a week. Highly recommend if you are into UF. Not that everyone will love it but it's still a must-read^^

message 14: by Alisha (new)

Alisha Polley | 1 comments You should check out that new book from Kaden Shay Her Calling. I read that one last week and it was really good I can't wait for the next one in the series to come out

You said it, girl! I think I am re-reading White Hot (Hidden Legacy, #2) by Ilona Andrews for the 3rd time and falling more and more in love with Rogan and Nevada!

message 17: by KimyQueen (new)

KimyQueen | 5 comments I know that those books don't belong to any of the categories you've cited above but i would like to strongly recommend The Winner's Curse Trilogy and Throne of Glass series. Sorry if i'm off topic ( probably i am ) but those are books that have marked my life and i would be damned if i don't recommend to everyone ^^

message 18: by Clara (new)

Clara I (claraizz) | 12 comments The Gender Games Series by Bella Forrest is a good Dystopian series - not steamy at all though, but lots of action.

message 19: by Josie (new)

Josie Jaffrey (josiejaffrey) | 56 comments I keep seeing people recommend the Bella Forrest Gender Games series. I tried the first of her Shade of Vampire series and thought it was appallingly bad, and I struggled to understand why people like the series so much. Is The Gender Games an improvement?

message 20: by Clara (new)

Clara I (claraizz) | 12 comments The Gender Games is a different genre than Shade of Vampire, so that might make a difference for you, I don't know. I like the Shade of Vampire Series though, so it may be a matter of opinion. :)

Josie Jaffrey (josiejaffrey) | 56 comments @Lara: It sounds like maybe her writing style just isn't for me. I'll give it a miss, I think, but thank you!
