I'm not much of a romance reader, but I really enjoyed this one. It was easy to read and engaging. I liked the characters and it seemed pretty realistic. I am going to read her next book, What You Wish For soon.

I didn't realize she had another book coming out. Thanks for the heads up!
You're welcome!
I feel the same way you do about "romance" books. I also think sometimes the authors focus too much on "hot and sexy" and the story suffers then as well. I don't mind erotica occasionally, as long as the story has something else to offer. I'm also not generally a fan of insta-love or people who just can't seem to control themselves at all. I really liked that this was just a good story. I agree that it should be a great beach read.

I really think sex-based "romance" should be shelved as erotica.

Especially as those books tend to go into so many details... hum hum ;)

I'm so glad that so many people who don't normally read romance tried this book and enjoyed it.
Dana - I had a similar reading slump. I'm not 100% out of it yet, but I'm doing better. Lethal Bayou Beauty helped for me. It was light and made me laugh out loud. It was just what I needed.

I've just finished chapter 13, and not surprisingly I'm loving it (I knew I would).

I'm at chapter 15 and even though I'm the paranoid type (solely when reading ;)), I didn't think about this one Lynn but you might be right.
I want to read your other spoiler but I'll wait.
Finished - LOVE, LOVE, LOVED IT!
The only criticism I have, (view spoiler) . It didn't spoil my enjoyment of the book though.

I'm so glad you loved it! I did too. :) There were a couple of little things that I thought were too convenient or neat, but not enough for me to really be bothered by it. I can't wait to read her next book.

PS: re your spoiler Lynn, I was glad and sad too!

Ok, wasn't planning on this one, but am adding it now. I am going to check out the library website right now!

Sorry I am just seeing this, but I'm glad you are coming out of the slump!

I am so glad I read it. It was the right amount of romance, family dynamics and humor.
This one had me cracking up so many times!
I agree with (view spoiler)
So glad you loved it too, Vicki! Seems that it went over well with our group. I also agree with your spoiler.

Things You Save in a Fire
Cassie Hanwell was born for emergencies. As one of the only female firefighters in her Texas firehouse, she's seen her fair share of them, and she's excellent at dealing with other people's tragedies. But when her estranged and ailing mother asks her to uproot her life and move to Boston, it's an emergency of a kind Cassie never anticipated.
The tough, old-school Boston firehouse is as different from Cassie's old job as it could possibly be. Hazing, a lack of funding, and poor facilities mean that the firemen aren't exactly thrilled to have a "lady" on the crew, even one as competent and smart as Cassie. Except for the handsome rookie, who doesn't seem to mind having Cassie around. But she can't think about that. Because she doesn't fall in love. And because of the advice her old captain gave her: don't date firefighters. Cassie can feel her resolve slipping...but will she jeopardize her place in a career where she's worked so hard to be taken seriously?
