“Yeah. I feel bad,” Lyla says, “Maybe she’ll come over here? Or Aarna might bring her.” She starts to massage his shoulders, trying to ease some of his stress.

“It will turn out alright,” she whispers.
" I hope so " he sighed. He didn't know how much he had needed someone by his side. Especially at the time when they broke up. He had his sister but seeing her, he knew that she needed support more than she did and he was happy to provide her with that. And when he came back together with Lyla, he saw that she needed support. During all of this, he never once stopped and thought about himself. He always put other people's needs before his own.
Lyla keeps massaging Jacob’s shoulders and neck. She smiles to herself. “You know, I find it funny that you always tell me to take care of myself and put my needs before the needs of others sometimes. But here’s the thing, you’re always doing the exact same thing as me. Putting others before yourself. So now, I’m going to tell you what you told me. Take care of yourself sometimes, Jacob.”
" I do take care of my health, Lyla " he assured her.
“Not just physical health, Jacob, mental health too. It’s been stressful for us all, and you need to put your needs first for once,” Lyla tells him.
“I know I’m being a hypocrite, but I’m not wrong,” she adds
" But when it comes to needs, yours are way bigger than mine "
“And what exactly do you mean by that?”
" Other people have gone through worse than what I have. They need more support, emotionally " he replied
Lyla sighs. “And I guess I’m one of those people.”
" Almost everyone around me is. " He shrugged
There was something bothering Lyla. She tries to hide it but it was obvious.
“It’s nothing,” she lies. She’s playing with her hair the way she does when something is really bothering her.
She looks away from him, trying to make it so he can’t see her eyes.
He puts a hand on her shoulder, " I know that something is bothering you "
Lyla looks at him again. “Do you think I’m weak?”
He laughed, " Why would I ever think you are weak ? "
“Back in the caves, you said that showing emotion is a weakness. And well, I don’t like to hide my emotions. Or at least, not from the people I love most of the time,” Lyla says, keeping her gaze downcast.
" I felt that because...... Well after you broke up with me I felt well..... Broken. I felt like if I hadn't even opened up and shown my emotions, I wouldn't have to suffer he heartbreak. I wouldn't have to suffered at all. I tried bury my emotions. To never show them so that I couldn't be manipulated or be broken again " he replied not meeting her eyes.
Lyla sighs. “I really messed that decision up, didn’t I?” she says with a small smile, “So… you don’t think I’m weak?”
" You might have messed it up a bit " he agreed " and no, I don't think you are weak "
She hugs him back, inhaling his sweet scent. She turns her head so she could look at Aarna while still hugging Jacob.
“I’m always worried about the people I love,” Lyla says, “I’m just watching in case her stitches rip or something. Or something else happens.”
" She wouldn't care if they did. She is too hyper to care " he chuckled.
“True,” Lyla says, “but it’s still not good.”
“Do you think she already has?” Lyla asks nervously, watching Aarna closer.
Lyla chews on her bottom lip nervously. “I want her to be careful.”
" Seems like something I would say to ' someone ' "
“I’m going to assume this ‘someone’ is me?” Lyla says with a grin.
Lyla laughs, her head tilting back. Her hair was down and reached past her waist when she tilts her head back.
The light hits it at a certain angle and it looks like fire.
He smiled, he sure was lucky to have Lyla as his girlfriend.
When Lyla tilts her head back to its normal position, her hair falls back, framing her face. She smiles at Jacob.
“I’m not sure. Whatever you want sounds good,” she replies with an easy smile.
" I have no idea. It seems like we have done most things already "
“Yeah,” Lyla says, “We’ve even almost died multiple times.” She smiles.
“You know what I really want to do?” Lyla says.
