Max brought Stella and Ingrid here. He placed Stella down on the ground, wincing again as he did so, and kept holding Ingrid since she wasn't old enough to walk or crawl yet.

As Stella was sat down she immediately got up and toddled over to the sand. She curiously played with it. Ingrid babbled to Max.

Max smiled at Ingrid and talked back to her as he walked over to Stella and sat down beside her, wincing as he did, still holding Ingrid.

Stella didn’t look up at Max. She was too busy playing in the sand, drawing little shapes or lines with her finger. Ingrid giggled.

Ingrid seemed happy at this. Stella took Ingrids hand. “Sewwa wuv Ingid.” She said, wanting to look serious.

Ingrid’s little fingers wrapped around Stella’s fingers and Stella giggled.

Max took his eldest daughter's hand and walked to the play structure with her while he comforted Ingrid. "It's okay, sweetheart! Stella's your sister! You get to be with her all the time!"

Max got a call from Victoria and put Stella down before answering it.

"Alright, guys. We gotta go," Max said as he put away his phone.

"We gotta go see Mama, okay? Mama's sad right now," Max explained, taking Stella's hand.

Stella squirmed slightly but when she heard her mom was sad, she tilted her head. “Mama no otay?”

Max shook his head sadly. "Mama's not okay. We've gotta go home so we can help her, okay?"
