Victoria appears here with Felix. She holds him close and tears swell up into her eyes. I’m going to leave for a day or two. Maybe Max will be better. She wiped them from her eyes.

Felix then caught sight of the playground and stopped squirming, reaching out to the playground.

There were some kids there. Victoria looked around and got up. “Wanna go play?”

Victoria went to the playground. She climbed up onto the slide, and said “Okay Felix, are you ready?”

Felix looked stunned for a moment, then started laughing happily.

Felix squealed and reached out for the slide.

Felix squirmed to get out of Victoria’s arms; he wanted to touch the sand that the playground rested in.

Victoria sat down and let Felix touch the sand.

Felix reached down and touched the sand, then looked amazed. He hit the sand with his hand, squealing in joy.

Victoria laughed. She took the sand and made a small mountain.

Felix looked amazed for a moment, then smashed the mountain with a giggle.

Victoria smiled but heard her phone ring. She picked it up and saw the Caller ID. She paused, but answered it. “Hello?”

“T-Tori?” Max said shakily from the other end of the phone. It was obvious he’d been crying.
