So in the book a girl's dad is missing. They (mom and her and possible grandmother) move to a new town and a new house to stay. There she meets the 4 other children. Later they have to spin around a tree to travel back in time/alternate dimension to go find her dad. She finds parts of a ring along the way. The last part is worn by her mother. When combined it RR which are the initials of her parents (the mom's name might be rose).
