This is not a Tolkien quote. It's from the LotR movies and nothing resembling it appears in the novel.https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/8392...
https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes...“Maybe by making up his own history, he could make the tragedy of it all make sense. Maybe he could write reason into it.”
This quote is attributed to the wrong book. It should be deleted.

thanks a bunch for #193 :)
#203 Done#204 Not done. Rather than delete the quote, we can change the attribution. To which book should this quote be attributed?
#205 You're welcome. :)
Hello, the quote that is on my author page is not my quote. Please remove it. Thank you:)“With enough courage, you can do without a reputation.”

Hi Marie
You have posted from here https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1... which isn't an author page. Can you link to where you are seeing this quote please.
Hello, I am an author with Goodreads but cannot access my author account. I keep sending emails but have sporadic response and now, a month later, I still cannot access my author account. I used to access via Twitter but this is no longer available option. Is there any way you can help me or forward this to someone that can help me. I feel frustrated that I cannot update my information.
Than you

Thank you Rivka, I have been contacting them via the "contact us' link but since March 6 but I am not getting any response. We narrowed down to the fact that I used to sign in via twitter (which is no longer an option) but then the lady disappeared and further contact attempts were not answered.
I sent another message via the contact page today... will see. I don't know what else to do. I'd like to access my account and update my data.
Please delete the quote. Milne died in 1956 and it seems unlikely he ever said this.“I wish I'd been alive when the internet was invented. I'd have sold so many more books...”
― A.A. Milne

Please delete the shorter and incomplete version of these Kanga quotes, if not both of them .https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/sear...
Please delete this quote. The term was coined after the death of A. A. Milne, therefore he could not have said this. https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/sear...
Originally used on the animated TV series Beavis and Butt-Head, possibly as a euphemism for the term dickhole.

#204: Ah, that would be easier.

#216 Done.#217 deleted the shorter version. If the longer version is accurate there is no reason to delete it. Can you tell me which book it is from. It is many years since I have read Milne's children's books.
#218 Deleted

Thanks. I do not know which of several Winnie the Pooh books that particular string is from. Kanga appears often.
Please delete the second Maya Angelou quote here as it is a copy of the top quote on the page--the one with 125 likes. https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/sear...
Hi there librarians, please could someone delete the quote on my author page that begins with "Put simply..." It's been falsely attributed to me. I never said or wrote it, and I don't even understand it because it's not put simply. Many thanks in advance

I guess someone was using Poe for vocabulary building. More one-word quotes:empurpled

I was adding quotes when for Paru Itagaki, and I made some mistakes. The first thing I did wrong was I accidentally typed a quote wrong, then leading me to repost it, the old quote in question being specifically "Oh.... She takes my breath away. I'm always restless when I'm around her. Haru... Haru... I can't stop myself. I've never seen you make that face before. I'm In Love With You" Anyway I'd appreciate it if you deleted the old quote
The second thing I did wrong was I accidentally forgot to specify the book for the quote that starts with "I'll be fine. It's always been like this. I'm used to being feared and hated. I'll survive", (the book in question would be 'Beastars, Vol. 1').
Anyways if you did these things I would appreciate it very much and thank you.
Hi ! The Autor is not "Le Nom Du Vent" But Patrick Rothfuss, and the book is The Name of the Wind.

Hi! I think I may have posted an earlier request in the wrong spot, so I'm reposting here. Let me know I can provide more information to help resolve this request. Thanks!I believe there's an error in the below quote:
Current version:
"Writing poetry and reading books causes brain damage."
-- Pat Conroy, Beach Music
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/2474...
Suggested update:
"Writing poetry and reading books causes brain damage."
-- Pat Conroy, The Prince of Tides
Reason: Quote is from The Prince of Tides, not Beach Music. See chapter 2, page 53 of The Prince of Tides (e-book edition)
Suggested update (even more accurate?):
"Writing poetry and reading books causes brain damage."
-- Henry Wingo, from The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy
Reason: Quote was spoken by the character Henry Wingo, rather than being a statement/position by the author. See chapter 2, page 53 of The Prince of Tides (e-book edition)

Please either post a new thread (as you did originally) OR post in this ongoing thread, not both. If a day or two have gone by with no reply to a thread, it's fine to bump your request up by responding to your own thread. Goodreads Librarians are volunteers, and some requests may take some time to get a reply.
Please also note that when you copy-paste from an existing thread (as you did here), all the links are truncated and therefore will not work.

Thank you for sharing these best practices, which I'll apply in future posts. I'm sorry -- I'm new to this as you can probably tell ;)

Hi, this quote is missing the word "delicate." It should read:“Hope is a delicate flower which refuses to be crushed under life's brutal heel.”

If someone could add the missing word, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

Deleted, all by John Grisham. 1-5 were fragments, 6 was a single word & none had any likes.
Hi all,As explained in this article,
https://elodieunderglass.tumblr.com/p...
this https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9476...
was not said by Pratchett
This quote too https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/1918...
seems (after lengthy discussion in a Pratchett readers group, and after leafing without success through my book collection) to be just a borrowed quote from Woodhouse:
"Cats, as a class, have never completely got over the snootiness caused by the fact that in ancient Egypt they were worshipped as gods."
- P G Wodehouse, The Story of Webster, in Mulliner Nights (1933).
Could you please take down the two quotes I flagged?
Both quotes have the author but not the source, making it more difficult to prove them wrong (unless an article specifically shows them off... like the one I added for the satire/bullying quote): is there a way to impose citing the source when submitting a quote?
Than you for your time
Nonethousand wrote: "Hi all,As explained in this article,

Hi nonthousand.
I was able to edit the second example, as it was attributed to another author quoting Pratchett & didn't have any likes..
I can't find it in either of my quotation dictionaries, but I did find it attributed to Wodehouse on this site.
https://www.quotery.com/quotes/cats-c...
But as this version has over 4.1k likes I can't edit it. This will need to be done by a Super Librarian.
Sorry about that.
Edit - I wasn't very clear. I have just looked at the cat one.
The satire quote here.https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9476...
I've had a look online & a lot of doubt about this quote + the link supplied in message #247. I've added the attributed no-source tag.
is there a way to impose citing the source when submitting a quote?
No & some members don't realise you can add the book as well. Adding books certainly makes things easier, but some quotes are from interviews (for example) of notable people.
For changes to site functionality you can either post in the Help section or contact Support (Staff) with your suggestion.

Malebo wrote: "please delete this quote, i would like to rethink it https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9086..."
Hi Malebo
I don't think a quote can be rethought, but in any case it has a couple of likes, so can't be deleted.
Please delete this quote--it's attributed to F. Scott Fitzgerald, but it's not his."And in the end, we were all just humans, drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness."
Listed here on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7105...
It was investigated here and the correct attribution is Christopher Pointdexter.

Thank you!
