SOLVED. YA sci fi dystopia about a girl who lives in a world where the universe is made up of multicolored threads and I think she has powers with the threads?

I read this book probably around 2011/2012 when dystopia was really popular. I think the cover had multicolored threads on it but I may be imagining that, but the book definitely had a universe that was made up of multicolored threads and I think throughout the book the protagonist starts to be able to see more and more of what's going on and maybe realizes she has power with the threads? Like once she realizes her power with the threads or that the threads make up her universe she is able to see her world more and more clearly and maybe see into other universes? Idk And I think there's a secretive and repressive government and all that good dystopia stuff but it's also sci fi-y, maybe Wrinkle in Time vibes but trashier.
