STRANGE TIMES- By Julia Urban
The end is near but do not worry, stay seated be happy.
Don’t worry about the crashing and booming just stay seated and relaxed
Don’t worry about the bombs, the bullets and the death, the unending death.
Just stay still sip your chamomile and hibiscus tea, breath.
Be calm make your mind go blank.
Don’t worry, don’t stress be unaffected. See everything through rose-tinted glasses.
There is no such thing as pain or suffering. Don’t worry about the endless, unwavering passage of days as they sweep by you when you can’t even remember one thing that you did during them.
You grow, you age, you mature people keep telling you to not worry about the past, look forward to the future, “but what about the present?” you say.
What about the pessimistic thoughts that circle you. What if there is no future for you?
Unperishable thoughts meander through your mind but then you remember the one thing that keeps you going, keeps you going through every breath you take; that dream, that you, insignificant you can make a difference.
In this world of 7.53 billion people, you are living an ordinary life in a seemingly utopian bubble, you can be the change, the spark that ignites a revolution stopping hunger, suffering (pause) climate change, inequality, a global pandemic. But then you remember who and what you are, how minuscule you are, a grain of sand on a beach. And you think to yourself, “it’s not my problem, it has nothing to do with me,” and slowly your dream shrivels and your life goes back.
Back to how it always was mind-numbing, with not a care in the world. You hear an innocent girl was shot in the middle of a war-torn country and an innocent man snuffed out because of the melanin in his skin, and you don’t even blink an eye and unknowingly you smile, your mind swept away by other thoughts. As you go on living, your plastic wrap-like bubble hardens and thickens like an impenetrable container, as little by little everything humane slips away from you. You sip your chamomile and hibiscus tea; the world is perfect through your eyes until you walk down your street and a bullet pierces your heart... Not even your bubble can save you.

Welcome Jules!!!

My favourite authors are Maggie Stiefvater, John Green and Dan Brown and I mostly read dystopia, historical fiction and romance.
And I guess I would help humanity by being a voice for the voiceless (I haven't ever thought about this question before so i don't really have a concrete answer but I guess the more i think about it the longer the list will become and I'll end up not doing any of them) :)

i dont think the link works in my region but you make some great points and youve done an amazing job.
Hello everyone! Welcome to the group <3

My name is Shelby and I’m 23 years old.
My favorite author is Stephen King.
I’ll read just about anything YA, horror/thriller, dystopian and fantasy.
I’d like to help humanity by teaching people to embrace diversity rather than demonizing those who differ from them.

Thank you Adela for the invite <3
My names is Joyce. I'm 21 and from Canada. Some of my fav authors include Sarah J.Maas, Kasie West, Suzanne Collins, J.K Rowling, Ruta Sepetys...(so many amazing authors out there!!). I love reading YA fantasy and contemporary. I have been working with children for 3 years and I am one semester away for getting my BA degree in Child Studies. I would say I am helping humanity by creating an inclusive and diverse learning setting to teach the children :)

My name is Rheanna. I'm 14. I live in Canada. Some of my favourite authors are Alice Oseman, Leigh Bardugo, Erin Morgenstern, and Elizabeth Acevedo. My favourite genres are magical realism, fantasy, contemporary, and YA. A way that I'm helping humanity is trying to educate people with existing biases etc.

My name is Kat (short for Kathryn), and I’m 15.
My favorite authors are Rick Riordan, Neal Shusterman, and Marissa Meyer! I read YA and some MG and NA fiction. I enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, and dystopian. I read the occasional thriller or contemporary.
I’m not sure how I would help the world...? I would love to be an author and make people smile through. I would do just about anything to give someone in a dark place a little hope for the world. :)

I'm 13 years old from the UK.
My favourite books are Lies You Never Told Me and The Disappearance of Sloane Sullivan.
My favourite genres are psychological and mystery thrillers.
I'm bisexual (please no hate)
I want to help humanity by spreading positivities and I like to write my own books so I hope people find that they enjoy them! :)
Hello Kiera! I'm glad to have you here!
(And this is a completely safe place, so if you run into any problems, please tell one of us! I'm actually a lesbian, so I know how it feels to get judgment and stuff.)

Oh and as for how I would change the world, I'm studying elementary education and I want to become a teacher for younger grades to instill a lifelong love of literature and encourage exploration of hobbies and passions.
Again, sorry I've been a lurker for a while, I honestly came for wizard week but I'll stay for a while too.
Hello everyone and welcome! I’ve been a bit busy, so sorry for the late greeting. I hope you enjoy your time in our group!

My favorite authors at this time are Julia Quinn (historical romance) and Sarah J. Maas (YA Fantasy). I am reading Harry Potter (on book 3 so far) and I'm enjoying it, but JK is a POS human, so she's definitely not a favorite.
My favorite genre was historical romance for years. Now I'm reading a lot of fantasy and enjoying it. I also enjoy memoirs.
I plan to help humanity by creating a sex ed YouTube channel. I'm going to educate and help people. :)
Thanks for having me! :)

Any genre is my most preferable genre, I read Classics to Young Adult Fantasy, Thrillers to Memoirs all books are my fictional friends. Libraries are like palaces and jewelry stores to me, ‘priceless.’
*head palms*
Anyway, my biggest dream is to have a mega colour coded book case. And travel to some of the most unique and biggest libraries in the world.
