YA? Highschool story with suicide plot line

I’m currently a freshman in highschool and I read this book like 3 years ago. All I can really remember is that it takes place in a high school and these two characters stuck out to me. One was a classic emo girl I think and basically there was some cuts on her wrist? Or something. The MC worries and asks her but she says everything was fine and it was from an accident. Cut forward and at school there was an announcement that some student tried taking their own life. So he looks for the emo girl and she was fine. The person who actually attempted suicide was another character who I think was like comic relief? Or maybe just a bit weird I can’t recall and since everyone wrote him off as a bit odd they all just never paid much attention to him. I can’t remember if this was the main plot of the book or just a side plot but for the love of god this book affected me heavily and I want to remember it. I think it may have been YA? Or maybe romance? It wasn’t fantasy or anything just like standard highschool stuff.
