SOLVED. Children's (maybe YA) book about magic and superpowers. [s]

There's a really good book (most likely series) that I read a really long time ago, when I was in fourth grade, I think. It was really long, perhaps 300-500 pages and the main characters were twins, a boy and a girl. I'm pretty sure the girl was older. The two of them had superpowers (I forgot the boy's power but the girl's was the power of controlling the air) and I think they lived in their grandmother's house. There was a talking cat and/or tornado involved somewhere, too, probably in the later books in the series. If anyone knows anything about the title or author of this book, please let me know!
