Lark | 69 comments This might not be a helpful comment because I can't remember the title either, but this sounds very similar to a book I've read ages ago as well.

So potentially more details (if Beth confirms it):

The story opens with the main character running through different pages of the book she's in to "get in place" before someone opens her book and read where she is. Something like: running through the ponds in page 43 and taking a shortcut to breathlessly tuck her hair in place before she has to say her lines.

Later on when the characters basically have to abandon the book and they get to meet other characters from other books, someone greets the queen and she doesn't know how to respond because she only says her lines. She whispers to the king something like: what do I say, what are my lines?

I think there are bookwyrms in this world.

This MAY OR MAY NOT be the same book.

Kelly Is this one of the The Inkheart Trilogy: Inkheart, Inkspell, Inkdeath books? Either book 2 or 3

Miriam | 26 comments I'm pretty sure it's The Great Good Thing by Roderick Townley!

HeavyReader | 450 comments Hi Beth,

If The Great Good Thing is indeed the book you were trying to find, please move this thread to the appropriate solved folder and add this book to the group's bookshelf.

HeavyReader | 450 comments Sorry. When I looked at the thread, it was still in an unsolved folder. There must have been some sort of time lag between what you did and what I saw. I am sorry if I offended you. That was not my intention.

When I went to add this book to the group's bookshelf, I found that it was already on the shelf because this group has found the same book six or seven times before. I added the link to this thread to the links to all the other threads.

Cheers!

HeavyReader | 450 comments Cool! If you go to the group's bookshelf (there's a link to it on the right of this page), you can search for your book in the search bar on the left side of the bookshelf page. When the search comes up, your book is second or third in the list, and I think there is a view link.
