I recently read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and found myself tearing up at several parts. Maybe it was the fact that I had been on a train for almost 12 hours, but I found the way that she describes the relationship between a reader and a text and the comfort found in communities of fans and readers to be very touching. If anyone is still looking for a book to read, Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson is quite the tear-jerker.
I cry pretty easily but The Fault in Our Stars really didnt do much for me. I just thought it was an okay book. But Where the Red Fern Grows broke my son. OHGOODHEAVENS. We werent even allowed to talk about it. ALL of us were crying but he was SOBBING.
I read The Road based on a Goodreads list of books that made you cry. I didnt cry. But the book was good. And I love McCarthy. And I can mark another Pulitzer off my list.
I'm usually pretty bad about crying at books, but I haven't had any yet this year that I feel justified in counting. I've already read TFioS, and that just last year so I'm definitely not going to re-read and count it.My biggest problem with this prompt is that, in general, I don't /want/ to read books that will make me cry. It's hard to find a book that's supposed to make me cry that I also am excited to read.

I'm a sap and get teary during holiday commercials though. I really don't think you have to literally cry, but be emotionally moved by it.
I've just read The Book Thief and cried several times throughout it, so if you're still looking for a book for this prompt, I'd recommend that one.
I had a surprising experience. Listening to Yes, Please by Amy Poehler on audibook, she was talking about her time spent working with orphans in Haiti. It made me cry. So a book that I expected to only make me laugh, ended up being the only one of the year to make me cry.

Another category I won't be able to complete. While I'm a total crybaby at the movies, books hardly ever make me cry. And I did try, I read The fault in our stars, but it didn't open up the floodgates.

I read several that are touching or sad, books that *most* people say makes them cry so I think I made a good effort! I settled on a book that made me very sad - Where the Red Fern Grows.
