~ Personality ~
Kendra is usually caring, playful, and easygoing, but she can also surprise people with a little sarcastic sass. Growing up, her mother nurtured compassion and a love of music in Kendra as her mother was a music teacher. The result of this learned compassion and the adoption of her neglected/abused best friend Skyler was that Kendra tends to gravitate towards people with traumatic pasts. The healer in her unconsciously wants to protect and help them. She usually tries to be diplomatic and consider all sides of a situation, but sometimes when she feels strongly enough, she will just give into her emotions without a second thought. The latter often leads to a rather messy love life.

The main time that she is ever stern is when her patients’ or friends’ health/welfare is at risk, because unfortunately, patients often do whatever they feel like, jeopardizing their well-being. She is also hardworking and ambitious when it comes to her passions. In a relationship, the person she ends up with needs to be able to understand this about her and treat her as an equal.

Her own view of love and romance is more mature and pragmatic than most people of her age because of her own experience with dating. She is more willing to be flexible- compromise and work out problems to fix a relationship- but the other person needs to be able to open with her and communicate his/her thoughts.

~ History ~
The Pierce siblings were both gifted mortals in music and sports. The sister chose to teach and nurture a love of music in children and the brother chose to go into the Olympics. Unfortunately, the differences in their life choices and perspectives eventually led the two to become estranged. In Denise’s mid-twenties, her voice and talent caught the eye of Apollo and soon after, Kendra was born. Following her birth, Apollo's visits became fewer and fewer until they just stopped.

A few years later, Kendra met a girl a year older than her named Skyler on the neighborhood playground and became friends instantly. Denise found that the girl's father was also a single parent and as people with similar situations and problems often do, they came to support one another. The girls became closer as the years went by. Eventually, Skyler’s father met and married a woman with three children; and so they saw less of Skyler and her father… at least in the beginning. It became clear that the young girl was neglected and forgotten often, so Denise would sometimes volunteer to pick up Skyler and the two girls would spend the day together.

Close to the holidays, Denise received a call from her brother one day with a sudden desire to see her and meet his niece. That Thanksgiving, he and his daughter Niobe flew in to celebrate. The two Pierce siblings decided to chat and shooed the two girls off to get acquainted. Kendra and Niobe kicked a soccer ball back and forth and then switched to practicing pitching and batting until the sun started to set. Kendra pretty quickly learned that her cousin was a bad sport and a snob, always complaining whenever she missed the ball. At one point, the two’s argument escalated to shouting and something strange happened- a family at a nearby picnic table sprouted wings and descended on the two girls. They both did their best to fend off the harpies with nothing but two balls and a baseball bat, but barely escaped. When the two girls explained what happened, their parents exchanged a look and their Thanksgiving holiday turned into a car drive to Camp Half-Blood in Long Island.

Kendra stayed there until Christmas. Wanting to catch up, she and Skyler exchanged diaries. By this time, Skyler's living situation had worsened and she had already started running away to the Pierces’ house. Kendra was greatly concerned and confused when she read her friend’s entries and dark poems and immediately asked her mother, who already had her suspicions. Denise talked to Skyler’s father and step-mother, who both insisted that Skyler was lying to seek attention. This seemed to only make living at home worse for Skyler and she ran away more often, sometimes to Kendra and Denise, until she disappeared for three weeks. Skyler was already practically part of the family after nine years, so welcoming her into their family officially seemed only natural.

A year later, Kendra began her first relationship with a son of Ares named Parker. The relationship lasted for about a year, during which Parker often cheated on her. She kept trying to fix the relationship and please him, but the relationship eventually came to an end. Some months later though, a brash daughter of Pan caught her interest. This one was just as much of a player as Parker, but the difference was that she never lied to her about her other hookups and somehow… she and Kendra understood each other. Brooke respected Kendra and made her laugh while Kendra was a soothing and supportive influence on Brooke. They dated and fooled around for half a year, but Brooke was still reluctant to commit herself to Kendra.

Then, Brooke agreed to go on a quest, which Kendra was not happy about. She suspected Brooke was going because the girl who asked her - Illyana- was someone Brooke had a crush on for a while. They argued for a few days, but Brooke came to the realization that she only wanted Kendra and so the argument ended with them finally officially together less than a week before leaving. Alas, stories of demigod heroes seldom end happily and are always complicated. A couple weeks after the quest began, the camp lost contact with the three half-bloods. Weeks went by and they still did not return and no one had seen them. They were given up for dead and burial shrouds were burned for Illyana, her best friend Emmaline and Brooke. Kendra still insisted on looking for them and kept holding onto a hope of seeing Brooke's face again for months.

Then, one day, she knew. Brooke wasn't coming back. During this point, all her other friends seemed to keep her at a distance. Skyler, who turned out to be a daughter of Eos, was struggling with her depression and anorexia. Margot was keeping her friends out because she was dealing with her own problems: she had just recently become pregnant. Jourdain was dating someone and seemed to be wrapped up in new projects. The one person who seemed to truly be there for her during the entire time her girlfriend was missing was her ex-boyfriend. One day that followed, in particular, she struggled so much that she couldn't bear to be alone all day… and then, all alone at night. Parker offered to stay with her and hold her for as long as she needed. After a great deal of sobbing and grieving over Brooke, she had a sudden desire to forget and so sobs and tearful conversation turned into desperate kisses and then past kisses… The next few days, Kendra and her ex-boyfriend hooked up until Kendra became overwhelmed with guilt. The two of them agreed to stop and just be friends

Loud feet trampled through leaves nearby and the doe ran faster, her heart beating rapidly. 'Keep running. Don't stop. You can't stop.'

Lady Artemis looked down from Mount Olympus, and her silver eyes fell on a pure white doe, helpless and innocent, being hunted by mortal men. Artemis hissed in anger. "So help me, I will shoot every single man chasing that doe." she growled, grabbing her silver bow and arrows and disappearing in a shower of moonlight

The pure white doe ran to a cliff and found itself trapped with nowhere to run. The hunters closed in around her, forming a circle so she couldn't get away, rifles held in their hands. They laughed and grinned, looking at the doe like it was a jewel, not a living creature. One of the laughing men raised his rifle and pointed it at the helpless, scared doe. Two gunshots rang out in the night, and the silver-white doe fell to the ground

Artemis arrived in a shower of moonlight and cursed in ancient Greek. She was too late. The hunters had already shot the doe, and she glared up at them, rage burning in her eyes. “Go. May you always be hunted as you have hunted this innocent creature.” she hissed. In an instant the hunters were turned into stags, and they darted away and nimble legs. Artemis kneeled down next to the doe and stared at the blood that stained its silver-white fur. She looked into the deer’s grey eyes, which were clouded with pain, and a vision flashed through Artemis’s mind.

A young girl of about 13 held a silver bow in her hands. A sheath of silver arrows was on her shoulder, and she pulled one out and notched it on the bowstring. The girl reached up and brushed a strand of her silver-blond hair away from her face, then pulled the bowstring to her cheek. Her silver deer-like eyes stared at the target a few yards in front of her, then the girl released the bowstring. The silver arrow flew straight into the bullseye and the girl turned to face her with a smile, her grey eyes bright.

Artemis jolted back to reality and stared at the deer. ‘What was that?’, she wondered, then laid her hands gently over the bleeding wound in the doe’s chest. Her hands glowed with silver light, and the wound began to heal. The doe glowed with a soft silver light, and Artemis examined it for any other wounds. She spotted another wound on the deer’s leg and Artemis shifted her hands a bit, her hands glowing brighter. The doe shuddered as the magic ran through its body. Suddenly a girl was in place of the doe, and Artemis pulled her hands away in surprise. The girl had silver-blond hair and deer-like grey eyes, just like the girl from her vision, and Artemis realized with a jolt that the girl in front of her was the girl from her vision. "What have I done?"

Chiron stood, looking out over Half Blood hill. He picked up the sound of someone making their way up the hill and turned his eyes in the direction the noise was coming from. A girl of about 13 dashed up the slope, shooting a silver arrow at a monster behind her. She reached the border of the camp and stood panting for a moment, the dust from the monster blowing across the hill below. Chiron trotted over. "What is your name, young one?" he asked. The girl looked up at Chiron with silver deer-like eyes, her hands still clasped around the silver bow. "Luna. Luna Maral."

Hm, interesting backstory. I don't think the story fits the requirements for a child of a virgin goddess though. I feel like Artemis shouldn't both turn Luna into a girl before the hunters and intentionally claim her as her daughter. Also, she did this in front of the hunters. I feel like a virgin goddess siring a daughter shouldn't be seen by mortals or gods alike.

Well, I think most of the original story could work. Maybe Artemis could turn the hunters into animals as an act of wrath or as a lesson that gives them a taste of their own medicine. I feel like that would be something Artemis would do. Also, maybe a doe was injured by the the hunters, so Artemis tries to tend to her wounds with magic, but a little too much magic because then the doe turns into a girl. Somewhere in there can you fit a vision of a girl? Maybe when she looks into the eyes of the doe before she tries to heal her wounds.

Maybe talk about what happened to Luna afterwards? Artemis couldn't raise her and Luna doesn't have any mortal parent, so I would imagine Artemis would probably have to place her in the care of someone or a family.
