That was very helpful insight MKat, thank you.I went back and looked at our notes, and we had decided reading a book from the Best Adult Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance list
MKat’s task mentioned this must be a romance, so please make sure that the MPG lists Romance for the book you choose to read. Happy reading!
Next Task:66. As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.
I'm going to read Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews
Pages: 400 (GR)
Qualifies as #1445 on the Adult Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance List
Sassafrass wrote: "I'm trying to save the Ilona Andrews books."I have this one on audio on loan from the online library. It took me almost 6 months to get it so I'm glad it fits in the task. Although at #1445 it took me awhile to find it LOL. I am loving reading the Ilona Andrews books and still have quite a few to go. One left after this one in this series, 2 in The Edge series, and 4 or so in the Inn Keeper Chronicles. I also haven't read many of the novellas and short stories for any of the series as well. I will be sad when I run out but I'm banking on them writing more by the time I get done with what is already out. I am just loving the experience of their writing.

I don't want to read this one yet. I'm getting too caught up on all her series and I'm afraid to be without a book of hers that needs to be read. *sigh* But I bet it was so good wasn't it!?! I don't think I'll be able to hold out much longer! Especially since I finished Kate Daniels.
I rated Sapphire Flames 4 stars...almost 4.5. I listened to it and it has a different narrator from the previous books. Renee Raudman usually narrates Ilona Andrews books but this one was Emily Rankin (who is also good but not Renee if you know what I mean). Once I thought about it the change was good because the 3 previous books were from Nevada's point of view and this one is from Catalina's. There was some romance with Alessandro coming back into her life and refusing to leave her alone and the heat factor was great but don't expect to see any sex in this one as Alessandro and Catalina's relationship is super rocky but very intriguing and will develop into something spectacular. As spectacular as Nevada and Connor's relationship I'm thinking. The only thing that makes me sad is I have to wait until the end of August to get the next book.
I liked Emily Rankin as Catalina. I was actually glad in the last book that there was a differentiation between Nevada and her.And therein lies the probably with reading them. I don't like the waiting! So I always want to be a little behind. LOL, silly, I know!
The only thing I really didn't like about Emily Rankin's reading was the voice of Arabella. It was super juvenile sounding but she's 17 or 18 in this book as it takes place 3 years after the novella of Nevada and Connor's wedding.

I actually enjoyed it. I had started and not finished it a couple of times but this time I read it reasonably easily and finished it actually looking forward to the next book. I know a lot of people love this series but though I absolutely adore Nalini's psy changeling series for some reason I have struggled getting through this series

I think a couple of us were talking May or June 2019. I'm not sure if we narrowed it down any further than that. I'm going to look for something to fit into May 2019. If the rest of the team would like June 2019 just let me know.

Hi Christina - you are correct, we had indicated either May or June 2019. I’m totally good with your suggestion of May 2019, let’s proceed with that. I’ll start looking in my library as well. Thanks!

I wrote a pretty short and succinct review on it hereI’m a fan of this author but unfortunately was not of this book. Main characters kept doing truly dumb things that would either just piss me off or make me shake my head and go, why am I reading this stupid book?
I did like some of the other characters that were introduced, so the series itself may have possibilities. But the hero, heroine, and heroine’s mother I all had issues with. For example, in the VERY FIRST CHAPTER, the hero is introduced to us as he’s getting a blow job from another woman while he’s on the phone with his female business partner, who then passes the phone to the heroine who was almost killed that evening and needs his help. I mean, like these are like the first 10 pages. Then he demands she come to his house immediately. She does, and finds him there still with the random woman he had evidently just met at a sex club (crossover alert! From the Wicked Horse saloon), and he has the random woman sit on his lap and as he’s talking to the heroine, who he has a past with, he literally sticks his hand up the random woman’s vajayjay to fondle her in front of the heroine. Yes, this guy is a real hero indeed, and this was our introduction to him.
And as bad as that was, I actually ended up liking him better than the heroine Jos - so what does that say about her.
Sooo, you know what I'm going to ask.... LOLthis is my life now. Thinking about the next task. It's so hard because I get reluctant to start new books just in case everyone finishes but inevitably I do because I can't read nothing. LOL, oh the dilemma!
Hey CB, what are you reading right now?I'm about to start this book
Shadow Hunter for another challenge.I see you read it. What did you think? do you remember? Did you like it enough to continue with the series?
I thought it was an interesting take on a UF series - I thought the writing had moments where it dragged but overall I had rated it 3.5 stars and yes, I liked it enough that I do plan to read more in the series. The heroine definitely was kick-ass, and I remember that was one of the things I liked best about the book. For me, I feel like I’m in a book rut - the last 3 books in a row I’ve read have been 2-2.5 stars. 😞 Need a good read stat!
I just finished a book Avoiding Commitment and it was *1.5 STARS* at best. I wanted to DNF it so many times but needed it for a challenge. It really got me off my groove!
I have not read that particular book, but I checked and I’ve read at least 2 others by that same author and have been very underwhelmed. I just started Sticks by T. Gephart and so far it’s promising, although it’s early days yet. Hopefully a good rock band romance might end up being a good palate cleanser. 🤞

I hope that one is good for you!
I finished that book and it was pretty good. I definitely continue on with the series at some point.
I am about halfway through mine. I am enjoying it but its slow going hoping to be done by either tonight or tomorrow

Here is your next task:48. Read a minimum of 750 pages in books featuring shifters.
Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count. Please include how you know the book is a shifter book! Is it in the title or series name? Is it tagged? Is it included in the precis? I will be looking for 'shifter' or 'were - something' to qualify your books, but I need to know where to look. 😊
