Am curious as what the next assigned task will be........🤔

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 675 comments sorry it took so long. It was an amazing book but there was so much going on and so many nuances and threads to take in that I needed to take my time with the read

That's understandable, Nikk! I can't wait to see what's next up for us!!

MountainKat | 31761 comments Yay, here is your next task:

69. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.

Profession like Law Enforcement Officer or musician are acceptable. Just don't try to pass off a chef and a rancher as food industry, because those just aren't close enough!

Hi Christina- yes, we did decide on law enforcement officer for this task. Looking forward to it! Will start looking at my books.......

Happy reading everyone!

Maybe it was a freebie at some point? Wonder if Sass has it too then 😂

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 675 comments no I am pretty sure - mine is a paperback version. Pretty sure I bought for an RL book club

Its not free or on KU here in Oz BUT found my copy in my bookshelves this morning.

Hey Sass, Does it also work for 50% male POV?

And what did you think of it?

message 118: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4193 comments It was more like 3rd person. So I don’t know if that counts.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 675 comments Sassafrass wrote: "It was more like 3rd person. So I don’t know if that counts."

I think as long as the third person POV is at least 50% male then it should be fine

Hi Sass - MKat posted today in the Q&A thread that she was going to start being picky about our completion posts - can you please edit your book link so that it links to the kindle edition? Currently it’s to the MMP - thanks!

Everyone please be sure to link to the first published kindle edition in your posts. 👍

message 125: by CB (last edited Apr 28, 2020 06:19PM) (new)

CB (cb33) | 1312 comments I kind of want one of those “read 6 books” tasks, where you read 6 books with naked male chests on the cover, or animals on the cover, or same color cover etc. I don’t know why that seems kind of fun to me, and a bit more of a challenge to read more books as a team in one particular task, than just one book per person.

What about you, what are you thinking?

message 126: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4193 comments I'm not sure. I was looking at those too. also the new to you author one. I think that would be cool right now while I'm quarantining. Something new and exciting.

message 127: by CB (last edited Apr 28, 2020 08:19PM) (new)

CB (cb33) | 1312 comments That’s a good point, the new to you author task would be fun as well. I bet finding an author we’ve never read anything by but are interested in reading will be more of a challenge than we might think.

message 128: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1705 comments Sorry team but I've stalled out on this book. I'm going to maybe switch the book to another cop book. I don't know what it is about Hungry Like the Wolf...I've tried reading it twice now and stalled out right around the 40% mark. I'll figure out what I'm reading and hopefully get it done so we can get our new task tomorrow.

On another note we had a natural gas leak in the basement. Called the gas company and we have a slow leak in the pipe coming in to the basement and the person who installed our hot water heater coupled two pipes together badly. So we had a secondary leak there. And now we have no gas until we can get someone in and fix the issues. It's warm enough now we don't need heat but in the Midwest that could change tomorrow LOL. A shower would be nice but since I'm we're still in self isolation no one cares if I smell bad :-)

I struggled with it too Christina . I read two pages in the space of 36 hours and thought it was just me. However I listened to it on audio last night as I was setting my daughter's ipad up for home learning and it helped me push through it and I managed to finish it today :-)

message 131: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1705 comments I was hoping to listen to the audio too on Kindle Unlimited but since I previously purchased it (probably for free) the Unlimited option wasn't available to me....or it no longer is available on KU...not sure.

Well, thanks team for getting enough pages read even without my book. I'm trying not to beat myself up too much but I'll try to get our next task completed in a more timely manner. I'll try and finish this book anyway but I'm glad y'all won't be waiting on me for the next task.

message 132: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4193 comments so for this task we can just read enough pages all of us don't have to read a book?

I wonder what happened Christina it was kindle and audible unlimited for me.

It was showing as full price on kindle for me ($11.99) but I already owned it in paperback so I just used my audio book monthly credit for the audio as I yet to use it this month

CB (cb33) | 1312 comments Sassafrass wrote: "so for this task we can just read enough pages all of us don't have to read a book?"

I think all members of the team still have to read a book as part of this task, but I’ll check with MKat to be sure and will confirm.

However, if that’s the case, you can always choose to use a pass for this task if you wish to do so, Christina.

Sorry to hear about the gas leak issue - that’s serious business, glad you caught it.

message 136: by CB (new)

CB (cb33) | 1312 comments It was evidently in the Signups:

"Each teammate will need to participate in each task, but may take a pass for one task during the course of the challenge."

So Christina, if you can please either read a book for this task, or indicate that you want to take a pass - we’ll need one or the other. Thanks!

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1705 comments Gotcha CB. I'm sticking with my original planned book. I'm over the hump and sitting at about 70% into it. I have a busy afternoon but will use whatever down time I can squeeze out to finish it.

message 138: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4193 comments that's so weird!?! I have no idea why that is. I just checked and it's still showing as KU and AU for me.

Anyway, I'm sorry it's such a struggle for you Christina. I think it helps being able to listen to it. And I usually speed it up because the narrators speak so slowly on those audiobooks!

I usually feel so much better when I’m struggling with a book and I see I’ve hit that 85% mark - then I’m like, the pain is almost over! 😄

message 140: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4193 comments I am that way too when I get to about there. LOL, that's usually when I start to look to see if there is a bonus chapter for another book at the end that will eat up some of those percentage points. LOL

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1705 comments Color me surprised but I actually ended up liking that book. Don't get me wrong, there were issues with it. Namely MacKenzie, the heroine. I almost hated her but I liked Gage so much it almost made up for it. The sensuality was great. The suspense was decent. The secondary characters were amazing. I can't wait to read Xander's book actually. If it weren't for MacKenzie and the fact that I was riding the struggle bus hard trying to get through the middle part of this book I could see this rated higher than a 3.5-4 🌟

I just figured if we al had the same book there would be no doubt we were all reading a book in the same profession LOL ;-P

Looking forward to finding out our next task

message 146: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31761 comments Just FYI - when you are making your qualification, MC is a cop or the LEO doesn't work. I need to know where to look to confirm your book - so say the book is tagged x times, or that it is on a list or in the precis or whatever. I will overlook it - this time. 😉

Here is your next task:

52. Read 6 books set in the same location, teams decide the location.

As a team, you need to decide on one location. You can use the state if within the US or the country if outside the US. Make sure you let me know how you know where the book is set - in the book details, from the precis, on a list or tagged. But simply saying 'set in France' for example is not enough.
