Linda | 234 comments Oh gosh you guys are so quick Hahah I won't finish my book until tomorrow evening, I think. I had a boardgames night tonight and I'm only about halfway through so far.

Linda | 234 comments Laura wrote: "Ha, I tried it and sent it back!! lol

I read several good/ great books that I recently enjoyed. I'm trying to keep my streak going!! I started one last night and wasn't enjoying it so had to start..."

Oh, well! It was weird, wasn't it?

And yes, a good reading streak needs to be upheld!!! :D

message 354: by Laura (last edited May 07, 2020 12:18PM) (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Never worry about not finishing on the same day as someone else. I don't mind- I always have other books to read and stuff to do to keep me occupied until we get the next task! Always appreciate the update of progress:-)

I only read the first page and couldn't get further!!

I'm going to make a pot of soup and maybe some butter tarts and then see if I can finish a book I started before this task:-)

ETA- I hope you enjoyed your board games. I can't wait to play a game of Risk with my brother and his family. Maybe, in a couple of weeks (fingers crossed)

message 355: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments Ditto to what Laura said about when you finish. There is always plenty to do and read in the meantime.

It gives me time now to focus on Clue and finish that reading!

When you finish and we get our next task will be perfect timing for me to start my next book.

Laura nice on the good read streak! I can’t complain about any of mine I’ve read.

I hope you enjoyed your board game night! That sounds fun!

BTW, I am reading Birthday Girl for another challenge. Boy, is that one good! It takes a while to get going. But I love how slow burn it is. There is plenty of heat! When Douglas gets it right, she gets it right! 😁

message 357: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Thank you for the heads up!! I will definitely finish tonight :)

Board game night was fun!! But it was probably different from you guys were thinking.. we did it via skype :'D We all own Settlers and we somehow made it work. It was fun!!

I'm glad you enjoy Birthday Girl!! The more I branch out in the New Adult genre the more I think I might end up bumping up Birthday Girl up to 5*! In the end it really was all I wanted out of it. And from what I saw what Douglas usually writes, its almost "fluff" for her? Either way, I really loved the slowburn, too!!

MountainKat | 31755 comments Here is your next task:

71. Read 6 books with alliteration in the title or author's name.

The alliterated words can be separated by one small word - a, of or and for example. The alliteration can be in the title or author.

Sorry!!! It is corrected.

Linda | 234 comments Laura wrote: "Did you end up liking your fairy book, Linda?"

Sadly... I don't know. Absolutely loved the world. Had some trouble with the writing. It was good writing, but somehow it was hard to read 'fluently' to me. I kept having to re-read sentences and it made for a very odd reading experience. But the world was great. I really like fairie worlds apparently Hahah

Linda | 234 comments For the new task I will read The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan !! (Author Alliteration)

My husband is on vacation this week. We have some things to do around the house. Just an FYI I may be slower than usual. I will try to find shortish books for this week!

Lucky in Love (Lucky Harbor, #4) by Jill Shalvis by Jill Shalvis
pages: 400 kindle edition

read: May 9

message 370: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments I'll read another:-)

message 371: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Ohh nice! Great catch for the task!!

message 372: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments I was just about to edit the Tracking post.
Geri, I've been wondering if we should maybe ask MKat if A Dance With Darkness counts? Reading the task again it says the alliterated words are allowed to be separated by a small word but she did not mention anything about articles. Considering all other tasks though, I think we should be fine since usually the articles don't count. But she didn't specifically mention it so I've been unsure.

message 373: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Linda wrote: "Ohh nice! Great catch for the task!!"

No, catch for this task, I had to search for something to work. We can't use books that we are currently reading to fit for a task.It has to be a book started after the posting of the task- which mine was.

OK. I’ll ask. It should be fine. A, of, and we’re examples. Hopefully, “with” will count.

message 375: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Oh, I did not mean because of the "with" I was wondering because of the "A" since she specified words between Alliterations count but didnt mention articles at the beginning.

anyway I saw it counts so perfect!!! Phew

message 376: by Geri (new)

Geri | 639 comments I just noticed we are halfway through the challenge. And we are working on task 10. I think we are doing great!

Laura | 2514 comments Since I 'm the last one to finish I 'll check us in.

ETA- checked in

message 383: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31755 comments Please remember to first edition Kindle edition. I don't recall which completion it was, but one was off. This task isn't attached to the page count, so I am going to overlook it.

Linda going forward, please use the first edition English language edition. I didn't have that in the rules, but it is easier for me to verify - thanks!

message 384: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31755 comments And now, here is your next task:

59. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate.

For this task, use the original publication date. Select the teammate and use the decade of their birth for all your books.

message 385: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Thank you for checking us in!!!

Oof this is hard. I hardly read books from 'our' decades so I don't really know which one is the best. I would have to specifically look either way so if one of you has a preference I am open!

message 386: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments I'll suggest yours Linda- it's the most recent.

message 387: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments I agree. 90s might be easier. Although I just looked for the past 30 minutes and it took me a while to find something. If we go with 90s I will go with The Awakening.

message 388: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments I suspect finding something from a list might be easier. Though I'm on the app so can't do that yet. Your book selection looks good.

message 389: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments I found these Lists:

Teen Novels of the 90s: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...

YA published in the 90s:
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

YA Realistic & Historical Fiction in the 90s:

Laura | 2514 comments I can't remember if I read that one, Geri. I used to love her books.

message 393: by Geri (new)

I think I’ve read all of Woodiwiss’ books. Come Love a Stranger is a favorite. I wanted to reread but it was published in 1980. I may reread later.

Linda | 234 comments sorry guys. I had a splitting headache the past 2 days. it's been hard to read on overdrive since I only have it on laptop and its just been too bright for me. The book is short though, so I think I will finish tomorrow!

I saw you reading the same one, Laura!! How do you like it??

message 400: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments Feel better...I will probably finish mine later tonight so I can start on my Clue book that I haven’t picked yet.
