Linda | 234 comments Ooh I always wanted to read Caraval!! Did not know legendary was the second book!!

I often tend to like second books in a series more! Maybe because the world building is mostly done and I am immersed into it and it reads easier for me. it just gets to me more. (f.e Catching Fire, The Wicked King)

message 202: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments So, did you get some cleaning done Laura? :P

message 203: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments Completion Post:

Legendary (Caraval, #2) by Stephanie Garber

Date completed 4/26/20

Alissa | 161 comments Yes, it was better but I think I liked the lead character in this one better than the first one.

I also understood it better since the first one laid the ground work for this one. I’m also interested to see how it ends in the Finale.

message 205: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments WOohoo!! And happy you liked it! I will check us in :)

message 206: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Linda wrote: "So, did you get some cleaning done Laura? :P"

oh yes! And listened to 4 1/2 chapters while I did:-) I 'm going to bake something later so I'll try listening again. I'm not a big audio person so it definitely helps that I 'm listening to a series that I started. I 'm listening to the 3rd book of the Ash series by Shiloh Walker.

message 207: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments I finished and then passed out and just woke up and now I’m working towards getting up to do more cleaning.

message 208: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments wow nice !! I love doing stuff with audio in the background. I usually listen to rom coms.. I tried listening to mystery/thriller but I realized it needs my full attention. some audio books (mostly the thriller genre) are such good productions though!! with a huge cast and its amazing. but since I usually listen to it while cleaning and cooking too I just dont have the attention span lol same goes for fantasy. I'd rather //read// that...

message 209: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Apparently, I can't read posts on GR and work on spreadsheets while I 'm listening- just mundane chores like cleaning.

We usually like the same stuff, Alissa- I 'm wondering if I should give the series another try ( at a later date) Glad you enjoyed it.

message 210: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Oh... to be honest I also can't. I can't read 1 thing and then listen to another and pay attention to both... WISH I COULD, though!!!! :P

message 211: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments I would say wait until you can give it your full attention and I would definitely read vs listen.

message 212: by Laura (new)

Me too!! Ha, lets see how well the baking turns out with me listening and reading my recipes:-)

Thank you! I think where our task is page specific I would add the pages of each book to show our total. I had added them up (not including yours) on the previous page

message 214: by Linda (last edited Apr 26, 2020 10:51AM) (new)

Linda | 234 comments ok yes I can do that!!!

message 217: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments I think I 'll read The Color Purple- and yeah I can use it for another challenge!

message 218: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Linda, let me know what you think of Eight Perfect Murders. I was waiting for my library to re open to read that in hard copy. I may put a hold on Overdrive.

message 220: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Yes i will!!! I'm excited to read it. it has been a while since I read suspense! And it sounds so cool!!

wow i never heard about The Color Purple but I see that a lot of my Goodreads friends have read it and rated it high. Sounds like a good one!!

message 221: by Geri (new)

Geri | 639 comments Wow, while everyone was busy reading and cleaning, I have been slacking! My husband and I drove to Michigan today to get Chinese takeout at our favorite restaurant. Then drove to a park by the lake to eat. It was nice. Not the usual. But the kind of fun we can have today with social distancing.

I will look at my books coming up. This is an easy task. I’m sure I will find something. I will try to read 2 books since I read fast. Makes sense for me to do it.

message 222: by Geri (new)

Geri | 639 comments I will be buddy reading Wid at Heart with Laura. That fits the task. I also have All Systems Red. It is 156 pages on kindle. I believe the book has to be over 150, right? I should just make it then!

message 223: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments I wish I could have done something like that Geri that sounded like a great weekend date.

It was definitely a weekend to do that we had great weather here.

I’m finally back to cleaning 😒 but I know I will feel amazing when it’s done.

I’m going to read Boy Meets Boy.

message 238: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Your tracking post looks great. I might have inverted it so the new task is always at the top and the older tasks go to the bottom so MKat can find the info quicker.

message 239: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Oh, thats actually a great idea. I didn't think of that. I will do that once I complete the post with my completion!!

message 241: by Linda (last edited Apr 28, 2020 12:36PM) (new)

Linda | 234 comments I really liked that book!! i dont read a lot of that genre so it was very exciting to me. I dont know how it feels for a regular.
I don't think it was mindblowingly groundbreaking or twisty, but i don't think that was the point. it was a great read. and for fans of the genre in its 'classical era' its a great homage. even I appreciated it lots and I only knew one book of the ones mentioned!

message 242: by Geri (new)

Geri | 639 comments I read the book Linda and enjoyed it too. The MC was creepy. And yes it was a great homage to some classic mysteries. Glad you enjoyed it too!

message 243: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Oh, nice! Glad you enjoyed it! I guess I will request through Overdrive as my local library will likely not be opening soon.

MountainKat | 31755 comments Here is Task 6:

66. As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.

You all need to read a book from the same list and for this task the list must be Romance.

That's what I want to read or Rock Chick but I 'd have to pay for both of them.

ETA- I gave up counting how many I read:-)
