I really liked this. I probably never would have found it if it hadn't of been for this task.
I hope the author writes more in this universe.

I knew going in this wasn't going to be some gritty, crime boss novel so I wasn't expecting anything too dark. Which it wasn't. It wasn't all fluff and happiness but it had a nice balance between the sweet and the killing of people. You know, the crime boss with a heart of gold and all that. The smexing was just okay but the story was entertaining.

Review: Solid debut book and I'm eager to read the next one. Loved the attention paid to how hard ex-felons have it after serving their time or being released - finding a job, paying restitution, parole restrictions, rebuilding trust - and that the faults of the justice system weren't glossed over (plea bargains, juveniles charged as adults, etc.).
Kirt Graves did a great job with the narration, too!

Ok - so as you know, I'm not a fan BDSM, and this is BDSM. Because of this, I'm not going to rate the book. It wouldn't be fair to the author.

Loved Sean's narration for this...and I probably should have chosen this one for the Tear-Jerker with a HEA category in my challenge! Still just as heart-breaking, and once again I cannot fathom a Head Coach potentially sacrificing a winning season due to bigotry. But, then again, some peoples' hate is stronger than their desire to win - and while it was a nice "in your face" that he carried the team to a championship, a part of me wishes that Xander had purposefully tanked the playoffs just to spite them all, to show them it was the team of him & Christian that made the team successful.

OMG. I really loved this book. It made me cry, laugh, ache and horny (occasionally, all at the same time!) and I'm so glad that I am a HYOOOOGE Cover Whore or else I'm not sure I'd have picked this book. The journey was tough, and it's an odd sort of HEA...but their story was perfect. We need more guys & gals IRL to come out and let us know they're gay and trying to be successful in the homophobic world of sports. Until there are more brave souls willing to risk their futures (like Michael Sam) - and more fans willing to admit they really don't care who's doing who so long as the team is winning - then I'll have to get my fix of what "should be" in books like this one.
(And while we aren't told what happened, in MY head that fuckhead coach got canned, sued for discrimination and blacklisted. Karma, bitch.)

Book 1 is still my favorite of the series but this one was a great addition. Marcus is kind of broken but trying very, very hard to get back on his feet and Timur is Julien's friend *cough* from the Legion. The smexing was very hot but I felt that's all we had for a good portion of the book. I guess I have a hard time believing they're going to work out so fabulously when Timur doesn't even understand what's being said half the time. I kept wanting Julien to appear and be their translator. I did love, love his favorite phrase though and it sums up my opinion of this book..."Is Good".

When the MCs start off there is a lot of dirty talk which really doesn't do it for me at all and I just thought the book was predictable.

I read this soon after it came out, and have since read the rest of the series, so this was a great opportunity to refresh my memory on where it all started :)
This reading solidified the 4 star rating for me, compared to my initial reaction back in early 2017 - and this is totally due to me already knowing the author's style and the Marian family.

Review: Usually these Dreamspun Desires books run about 3.5 stars for me...but I really liked this one. I could say it was Dorian Bane's narration, but - it was, as always, delicious; I could listen to his whiskey-flavored gravel all day - I actually liked the story here as well!
Fake Boyfriend is a favorite trope, and upgrade that to Fake Husband? Throw in the immigration drama, a wary & burned by love MC, an asshole ex and an idealistic romantic? OMG, yes please!

Well, thats a first. Never read about a sun sprite in a book and mating with a vampire, is a no no so the 2 families go to war.

6. Each player reads a book by a new to you author - no pass for this task.
You have other books by the new to you author on your shelves, but only the one you select for this task can be marked as read. Please include a link to your read shelf in your completion post - that is how I will be confirming your books. 😊

Edited to add: Okay, not as hard as I thought. I used this search to find debut books and then checked authors I wasn't sure I'd read yet.

Found A LOT already on my TBR and I'm only 3 years in; still have to go through 2016-2020. (The debut book lists are mixed in but I couldn't figure out a way to filter it more.)
