I read this series about a year ago its based on another planet where different clans fight to find enough metal to build a spaceship to escape their ancestors banishment. The main character is heir to people who can regenerate. he reaches puberty and grows breasts which people are usually put to death for but his dad sends him away on a 'diplomatic mission' which is basically banishment. In his travels he meets the other clans such as the people who live in trees and sing, people who live in if desert and can talk to rock, and people who can control how they move in time. He lives with each for awhile and learns their ways before finding his brother is one of the people who can change their appearance and other peoples memories to control them. the main character then beats them some how I don't remember much of the ending.

This was originally A Planet Called Treason by Orson Scott Card, but then he rewrote it as Treason.Treason
A Planet Called Treason
You can mark this request as solved by clicking the 'edit' link next to the subject line / title, and then selecting one of the "Solved" folders. This will help save our moderators some time. Also, I totally agree with Adele, that this is the book you're looking for, even if parts don't quite match your description (ie: not put to death, not quite a brother, etc).
Btw, Adele? Can you comment on my discussion post on the _Treason_ page? ie: how different is the rewrite?
Mods, maybe bump this to possibly solved, solved, or abandoned? Also, 115 pages of requests in the last year :)
Moving to Solved. Reviewers explained:
""Radical Regeneratives are treated as monsters among society, but they can grow extra body parts that can be sold in exchange for metal to build a spaceship so that they can eventually leave the prison planet..."
"Lanik grows breasts..."
"living at the top of a tree"
Wikipedia: "The protagonist of the book is Lanik Mueller, heir apparent to the Mueller family kingdom. The Muellers, through generations of eugenics, have the ability to heal at an accelerated speed and regrow body parts naturally. The dark side to the Mueller nation is that, in order to obtain iron and other metals, they trade organs and body parts, which are harvested from radical regeneratives ("rads"). Radical regeneratives are people whose bodies can't distinguish between health and injury, and so grow extra appendages as well as organs of the opposite sex; although this is a normal phase for most Muellers at the age of puberty, the bodies of radical regeneratives never outgrow it."
"After it is discovered that Lanik is a radical regenerative, Lanik's father must essentially banish him from the kingdom, so as to avoid sending him to the "pens", a place where radical regeneratives are kept in order to harvest their body parts..."
"Lanik travels to many of the regions of the planet Treason throughout the book, and discovers that those residing in different regions have different powers or capabilities. He first passes through the land of the Ku Kuei while on his way to Nkumai, learning that they can control the flow of time in a bubble extending out from themselves. When he comes to the land of Schwartz, he discovers that the people there are able to form rock to their will, as well as take energy from the sun."
