That is the book number in the series, not the page count.Silhouette, Harlequin and others number their romance novels.
Yes, that's why I noticed that the number of pages was weird; it matched the book number. I'll change to 186.

Amazon is not a good source for page numbers; WorldCat is, and WorldCat agrees with Edwina's count. Regardless, a (print) book in hand trumps every site (although it is good to double-check with the requester if the count is significantly off from WorldCat).

She lived in New London, Iowa, the youngest of four surviving children. Her father died when she was about seven years old when he slipped on ice while carrying a shotgun. Shortly after graduating from high school in 1941, she worked for the Iowa-Illinois Telephone Co., and on a factory assembly line during World War II. Initially she began writing poetry, and had some success with this, then wrote her first book in 1948 and became a full-time novelist in 1954, at the age of 30. Re #40Cover is on my profile page. Sorry the photo is so tiny but it's the only one I could find on Google images. Sad to say that the cover is missing from Momma's old book. Uploaded back cover for summary, it does match the cover I found on google since it has palm trees and sand.
