VampAmber | 622 comments I'm in the middle of reading As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride, and it turned out that Andre the Giant, who played Fezzik, was just an absolute sweetheart on set. He helped the actress who played Buttercup stay warm when they were filming a scene somewhere that had her shivering by putting his extra large, extra toasty hand on top of her head like a hat. The guy who played Vizzini had a fear of heights, so Andre held him extra tight during the cliff climbing scene and reassured him. He was also completely cool when a bunch of the cast and crew brought their families to meet him and take pictures with him (I think Cary, the guy who played Westley, who was also the guy writing the book itself, said he stood for over 100 pictures that day). He was constantly smiling and making people feel better, even when he was exhausted or in pain. Is it too late to recommend him for sainthood? At least as the Saint of the Princess Bride?

Also, since it's a nonfiction book, the acts of kindness really happened so I wasn't sure if it'd go in this thread or the real life one, so I just went with "it's in a book" to decide.

Shelley I finished The Unteachables by Gordon Korman a few days ago. There are a lot of acts of kindness in the book, but one of my favorites was when the injured football player stands up to his former teammates for picking on one of his new classmates.

There wasn't much kindness in this book but Tennyson help Melanie, her former best friend and soon to be in-laws thanks to their kids getting married, helped her pick out a more flattering dress for one of the events rather than what she usually puts together.

Gabby | 634 comments So I have been really lax about uploading these mainly because I haven't had the time. However looking for these things in books has been keeping me sane. I apologise for the upcoming long post.

No Time Like the Past by Jodi Taylor 11/4 had so many in there I want to pick out only a few and they were all done by different characters in the book.
1. Malcom saved a boys life whilst stuck on the roof of a burning building
2. MC helped a couple disappear forever and start a new life with their illegitimate son.
3. The boss lent them his Bentley and then saved them from the crowd after they screwed up.
4. (view spoiler)

Battle Robots Of The Blood by Adrian Liston 11/4. I was really happy to see this in a book a mother got her child vaccinated in order to prevent her friend getting sick.

Bear and Fred: A World War II Story by Iris Argaman. A man gave up his bear to a museum in order to teach children and allow them to learn from the bears story during WW2. Especially since they had been together all their lives.

Harry's Lovely Spring Day by N.G.K.. Harry was given an umbrella and a coat by a stranger to help him after finding him standing in the rain. "when you do something small you can change someones day".

Poco Loco by J.R. Krause. MC tries to warn his friends of bad weather. (view spoiler)

message 73: by Celia (new)

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) In The Not-So-Star-Spangled Life of Sunita Sen by Mitali Perkins , Sunita spends a lot of time not understanding or appreciating her family and culture, but the kindest scenes happen at the mall.

1. Sunita overhears her mom and Liz's mom talking about Sunita's mom's struggles and how she wants to go back to teaching and not be a model Indian wife for her parents, and she realizes she's been kind of mean to her mom, so when she and Liz's mom come to pick them up, she gives them a hug. Later, she helps her grandfather talk her grandmother into talking her mother into going back to teaching.

2. Sunita is at the mall with Liz again and she sees her grandfather being bullied by some of her classmates. She intervenes, even though she suspects it will cost her some friendships.
