In the early '90s I ran across a kids' chapterbook mystery that I haven't been able to find again since. One day near a small seaside community, the tide retreated far, far out beyond the edge of a bay. Some children - two boys, if I remember right - ventured out onto the mysterious dry seafloor landscape and found a sunken ship to investigate. Eventually, the tide came back in slowly (no tsunami), and the kids helped solve some mystery or other. Sound familiar to anybody? I'm guessing it was an older book - not published in the '90s... more likely between the '60s-'80s, but that's just a feeling.

I think I read this one, too. Did part of the story involve them crossing a deeper section filled with water, and them having to escape a shark?
It could be. I don't remember an event like that specifically, I wouldn't be surprised if the story involved something like that - anything to up the excitement level! :)
