SOLVED. Book about a girl whose uncle is HIV+. [s]

I read a book in the early '90s (which is likely when it came out), a middle-grade or YA novel, about an adolescent girl whose uncle is HIV+. Can anybody remember the name of this? Because I can't for the life of me!

Damn, the only other ones I'm finding with girls and uncles are picture books.

How old was the girl? Teenager or younger child?

Do you remember if the uncle had full-blown AIDS and died, or if the girl just learned he was HIV-positive?

I actually think I've found it. "I Never Got to Say Good-bye" by Alida E. Young. The name of the uncle-- Mark-- came back to me, and a Google search let me to it.

I did a text search for 'uncle' in this book on Open Library. The only one with a female protagonist I could find in that publication range was I Never Got to Say Good-Bye by Alida Young. Even if that's not it, I figured it was still an interesting resource to share.
