I thought so too. His hesitation in answering her was also hilarious.

And my favorite telegram ever:

Am taking legal advice to ascertain whether strangling an idiot nephew counts as murder. If it doesn't, look out for yourself.

Aunt Dahlia is the best :D Poor Spink Bottle :D

Also:
Deeply regret Brinkley Court hundred miles from London, as unable to hit you with brick.

:D:D:D:D

Gio Listmaker (giohumanistlistmaker) "Indeed, sir?" "Jeeves," I said, "don't keep saying 'Indeed, sir?' No doubt nothing is further from your mind than to convey such a suggestion, but you have a way of stressing the 'in' and then coming down with a thud on the 'deed' which makes it virtually tantamount to 'Oh, yeah?' Correct this, Jeeves." "Very good, sir."

I made to chapter 10 last night.

No worries, I had an empty house. My husband had an all-day appointment. Otherwise, he gets in the way of my reading. LOL

I got to chapter 20 today! I adore aunt Dahlia so much :D

"Atilla," she said at length. "That's the name. Atilla the Hun." "Eh?" "I was trying to think who you reminded me of. Somebody who went about strewing ruin and desolation and breaking up homes which, until he came along, had been happy and peaceful. Atilla is the man. It's amazing," she said, drinking me in once more. "To look at you, one would think you were just an ordinary sort of amiable idiot- certifiable, perhaps, but quite harmless."

I will catch up. I had no time to read yesterday.

LOL.

"And then you go on about how to twilight always makes you sad. I know you're going to say it doesn't, but on this occasion, it has jolly well got to."

Cracks me up!

No worries. I ended up watching the two episodes based on this one in the meantime.
I just had a few really busy days at the beginning of the week, and didn't feel like reading.

:D I liked that little scene with Bertie and Gussie. It might be one of the few times he's giving good advice :D:D:D

I will finish it, but it is going to take a few days.

The last couple of days has been hard.

We had a 400-acre fire Monday 7 miles from where we were staying; it took all day to contain, but it is fine now. We thought we might have to evacuate, so I was very stressed. On top of that, the phones were out across the US. With the fire blacking out the sun and the phones not working, I felt like the world was ending. NO LIE!!

Then yesterday, I woke up with a significant migraine due to the stress.

Plus, my husband's grandmother is dying of heart failure. She is 94 and has had a long life but it is still very sad.

I am really sorry. I know nothing can make this better, but I'm listening if you want to talk. I hope you'll be ok. It's sucky to lose someone in this weird time (we had to bury my grandma with just my parents and my uncle and his wife a few weeks back), and it sucks that we -and they- have to go through this mostly alone.

Not that the migraine helps. I got from from the weird weather we're having, and I am not happy.

I can't even begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now. I hope at least the weather will get better soon?

Stay safe!

I appreciate you, and thanks. I am feeling better today. The fire was contained, and the headache is gone. They are sending "Lila" home to pass peacefully and not in a hospital bed. This all feels surreal, like a crazy dream.

I will message you if I need to talk. ***Hugs***

That's something at least. And much better for her to be home.

Behind every poor, innocent, harmless blighter who is going down for the first time in the soup, you will find, if you look carefully enough, the aunt who shoved him into it.

MUAHAHA :D

True. He's not very bright, that one :D But oh so adorable. I wonder what would've happened to him without Jeeves. Probably married off pretty soon to someone like Florence (was that the domineering bossy one that reminded Jeeves of Aunt Agatha???)

message 149: by Gio (new)

Gio Listmaker (giohumanistlistmaker) I just got to the part where Spiffy wants him to steal the creamer. Wow, that that was hilarious. I was seriously laughing out loud.

The cruise is also hilarious. I would die to go on a cruise like that and he is not interested. :o

I always wonder how he got away with calling her "Stiffy" :D

I feel really bad for poor Gussie in this one. He is such an idiot, but still. Poor thing :D

:D Of curse you would. Me, I get seasick just looking at a boat, so no cruise. EVER :D
