I read this book around 2014 and it was about these 2 girls working together to solve the mystery of a fire that had happened in the gym at their school during prom many decades before. I remember it being very enjoyable and would like to read it again!!

Mackenzie, how did these teenage girls learn about the fire? Did anyone die or was seriously injured in the fire?

Hi! Thanks for the comment. (spoilers ahead) I don't remember why they start investigating it, but a boy died in the fire and his then girlfriend is still alive, and the girls know her somehow. I think the fire happened at a prom? The girl started the fire and her boyfriend went back in to get her, but she wasn't in there obviously and he died. I don't remember why she did it but she got away with it and the girls figure out she did it, but they decide not to tell anyone because she is so old now.

I'll look into it just to be sure, but I remember there only being 2 girls, and I don't think there was anything to do with cheer leaders. But thank you!
