Cathy | 1 comments This was a short story or novella I read in Omni in the 1980s. Explorers on a planet started moving more and more slowly. Turns out the rocks on the planet also moved. I am a librarian, and I have not been able to track this story down.

It is mandatory to include genre and plot details in your header, as per the Group Rules.

We will close threads that don't adhere to this requirement.

Cathybirdlady, I added plot details to the topic header. This will help searchers and moderators. Feel free to update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app.

Would you say the rocks moving is a spoiler (which we would remove from the topic header)?

Andy | 2124 comments That sounds a little familiar, but I can't think of the title at the moment.

Here's a link to tables of contents for Omni magazine. There's not much short fiction in Omni so you might be able to find the story just by going through the TOCs and noting the few fiction pieces there http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pe.cgi?2...

Andy | 2124 comments I'm going to suggest "The Rocks that Moved" by John Keefauver, in the July 1979 issue of Omni http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cg...
