SOLVED. YA book. Trapped in mirror. [s]

I read a book about 5 years ago. It was related to another series that the author wrote. Im pretty sure the author is female. I think the main character of the book is the sister of the main character of the related series. I remember very little about the book, so here's what I do remember; I'm not sure about it, but I think the sister from the other series runs away. I'm pretty sure she's a witch or has magical abilities; the main character of this book has a crush on a boy and they become close. He is adopted by her family at the end of the story; the main character doesn't have/has no relation to her father; there is a boy trapped in a mirror. He feels like he will be freed by the main character. He travels to the mirror of the girl's crush to spy on him and sees him playing video games. There is a scene, which I think is the first of the book and at least in the beginning, where the boy trapped in the mirror is in a dream with the main character. I think they're on a boat. As the girls wakes up, she thinks she feels the boy in the mirror touch her face.
