SOLVED. YA? Fiction involving a cloned boy [s]

I can only remember a tiny section of the book, but there was a girl talking to a man and she finds out that his son (I think) drowned in a lake (which I think was at the house where he lives) and that they cloned him (I think when they're having the conversation the boy cloned boy is still a child). It's a really hazy memory but I remember it being a really good book.

I'd probably have read it about 10 years ago. It's not much to go on I know but if anyone has any clue I'd be so grateful.

I looked at this but I don't think it is, the person they boy is cloned from died in a lake but House of Scorpion he's cloned to keep him alive.

I think that some kind of group may have been trying to find or hunt the boy but I'm not sure.

Sounds exactly like Margaret Peterson Haddix's "Double Identity" to me, except for the fact that the main character in that novel (who is a clone of someone who liked to swim) is female... Sorry.
