A girls family run a type of motel and one day some guy ask if he can leave this little girl there for sometime and says he'll pay them and give them money so they can provide for the little girl. The parents agree but treat the little girl badly after the guy leaves. They make her work and spend the money on their own daughter. They have a younger son but don't take care of him so the daughter does. The owners daughter is around the same age as the other girl (I think). The owners daughter tries to befriend the little girl but her parents get mad at her for even talking to the little girl so she also starts being mean to her even when she feels bad. The guy eventually comes back for the little girl after a couple of months. A couple of years later the whole family ends up having to run away for some reason and they were pretty well off but now they were broke and homeless. The girl is still young around 15-19 years old. The family moved to Paris I think. There while walking she sees I guy and end up watching him for hours(?). This goes on for days/weeks/months maybe, she won't approach him because of how dirty she is and doesn't want him to see her like that. One day she notices that while she was watching him read at a park, he was only there because he was watching another girl read at the park. The other girl was obviously rich. While looking at the girl she then noticed how familiar she looked and realized that the girl the guy she was in love with, was the little girl from years ago who she and her whole family treated badly.

I am so sorry about how long this is I just remember the story line pretty well and want to help as much as I can on finding this book. Sorry if my writing is terrible, im not good at explaining stuff.
A lot of things happen afterwards but I don't trust my memory to be sure about the events after that.
