Kayla | 3 comments Hello, I'm Kayla from Puerto Rico. I enjoy reading and I'm excited for the challenge. I haven't participated in challenges in a long time, but I feel motivated to read more next year. Good luck to everyone.. :)

Madeleine Mascarenas (jiggsjiggsjiggs) | 2 comments Mabuhay!
I am Jiggs, from the Philippines!
A friend of mine shared an article about 2017 Reading Challenge on Facebook, and now I'm here! This is my second time having a challenge on books, but this is definitely more interesting than last year's (not saying that 2016 was not cool, it's just traditional). I like the concept of having themes for each book in the list. For a writer wannabe, it will be a great help to engage in this year's cool checklist, because usually, I just read books of my favorite genre and neglecting those that are not. Looking forward for another year spent in different worlds and times in between the pages!

Hi, Vera! Your child is so lucky to have a mom who loves reading books. I think you can have bonding time by reading short stories with your child. Just remembered the scene Grew reading bedtime stories to his daughter in Despicable Me movie.

message 404: by Nicki (new)

Nicki | 1 comments Hi, I'm Nicki from England. I'm a self-employed sales rep, and a single mum to my almost 16 year old daughter. We're both avid readers when we have the time.

I've decided to join in this challenge to see if I can actually clear my TBR pile. I mainly read chic lit/romance. Tonight while going through my books trying to match them to prompts I've discovered I tend to prefer British authors so I plan on using the prompts I've been unable to do to guide me into widening my reading choices.

message 405: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellecarl) | 14 comments Hello there! I'm Michelle from Florida and I'm incredibly excited about doing my first reading challenge! Working for my county's supervisor of elections office meant that last year was a ridiculously busy year for me and I didn't have much free time for reading, so I pretty much just stuck to authors/genres I knew I'd enjoy and wouldn't find too daunting to finish. But I wanted to branch out a bit this year and (hopefully...) tackle the stacks and stacks of unread books on my bookshelves and thought this challenge was perfect for that!

message 406: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 2 comments Hi! I'm Sheena. I'm from Ohio. I'm a former librarian who now works from home. I read a bit of everything. My favorite authors are Susanna Kearsely, Charles Todd, Charles Finch, Diana Galbraith just to name a few. I am a huge history nerd, so historical fiction and nonfiction is what I like best. Looking forward to getting started on this years reading challenge!

message 407: by Marianne (new)

Marianne | 64 comments Hi, I am Marianne and live across the lake from New Orleans. I am a big reader and can't seem to stop buying tons of books at used book sales. So discovering this challenge is great as most of the books I will read are already on my shelves, just waiting to be read!

message 408: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Morrow (jen327) Hi, all! I'm new to this group and excited to be here!
My name is Jenny and I live in snowy Bismarck, ND. We've gotten 43.5 inches of snow since the end of November and are expecting another major weather event tomorrow.
I work in our neighboring city (Mandan, ND) as a kindergarten classroom aide at an elementary school. I'm also currently working on my Masters in Library Science online thru the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I'm excited to meet everyone and read some books that I may not usually pick up!
I picked up the January book (The Winter People) at my local public library the other day and I'm excited to get started!

message 409: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 73 comments Hi! I'm Ashley, from DC. I just stumbled onto the pop sugar reading challenge, and am excited to hopefully get back into avid reading. I don't get to read as much, as I have a spunky 19month old daughter, and work full time as a lawyer. I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature, so I really miss the days of curling up with a good book or three. This challenge really spoke to me, and I enjoy chatting with like minded people.

Happy New Year All!

message 410: by Sasha (new)

Sasha Matthews | 9 comments Hi I'm Sasha from Virginia Beach Virginia. This is my first reading challenge for 2017 actually for any year. I am a librarian so I read a lot but I don't typically get involved in challenges but I thought I would this year.

message 411: by Emma (new)

Emma | 33 comments Hello! I'm Emma, from Buffalo, NY. I did the PopSugar Challenge in 2016 (as well as several other reading challenges), and I'm excited about the 2017 challenge - there are some really fascinating tasks this year that will push me past my normal reading zone. I am an avid reader. Even working full-time with 3 kids, I still spend way too much time reading. Audiobooks are wonderful for commuting! I also don't get a lot of sleep.

I'm two classes away from my Masters in Library Science, and I'm hoping I will be able to return to school this summer to complete it. Life got in the way, and I had to take a break.

On a final note, my 10 year old has been asking me to find her a reading challenge to participate in, so I'll probably pick 12 prompts from PopSugar for her to try out. She's not a fast reader, but she can do one book per month along with any other reading she does for school.

message 412: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sel123) | 21 comments Hi, I'm Sel. I decided to join the Pop-Sugar challenge for the second time. I am loving the current challenge list and hope to improve my count while enjoying some good books.

message 413: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (lulubuck3) | 4 comments Hi! I'm Lindsey from Buffalo, NY. I'm a middle school English/Reading teacher. I have been a vivacious reader all my life. I have participated in the 2015 and 2016 challenges, but on my own. I wasn't even aware that there was a Goodreads group for the reading challenges, so I'm really excited to be apart of a larger group discussion this year. My goal will to be finish all 52 challenges

message 414: by Navya (new)

Navya Iyengar | 1 comments Hi I am Navya from India. I'm a working professional with no time for passion/hobby. This year I resolved to make some time for my favorite hobby - reading. Joined the pop sugar for the first time.
Any recommendations are welcome !

Happy reading folks :)

message 415: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Chan (beckschan) | 2 comments Hi I'm Becks from Singapore. I am hoping to get motivated with my readings this year and hope to catch up with all the many happenings of this club!

Great to be here!

message 416: by Letizia (new)

Letizia Loi | 42 comments Hi, I'm Letizia from Italy. I actually tried to do this challenge in the past two years without knowing there was a group here on Goodreads. I guess this will be the first year I'll do it properly XD

message 417: by Mickey (new)

Mickey (liongoddess) | 29 comments Hi, I'm Mickey & I live in KY. I read a lot, and am incorporating this challenge into my Goodreads Challenge for the year. My tastes are all over the map, but lately I seem to be reading British chick lit, thrillers, & cozy mysteries. If you look at my challenge, don't be put off by the amount of books I pledged to read this year- I'm a chronic insomniac & I read during downtime at work whenever I can, so it's a doable goal for me!

message 418: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Garrity Kalafut | 2 comments Hello! I'm Jenn from New Jersey. I haven't been reading much the past few years

message 419: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Garrity Kalafut | 2 comments Agh! Hit post to soon! I haven't been reading much and hoped a challenge would get me out of the rut! I've recruited a coworker and my 9 year old daughter to join me.

message 420: by Selma (new)

Selma Hi! I'm Selma, 31 from Paris, France. I've always been an avid reader, but I seem to go to the same types of book all the time... So I'm taking part to this challenge, as a way to bring some diversity into my reading!

message 421: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Koch-Krol Good morning, I'm Cindy K-K. I live in Traverse City Michigan, and I'm an author. This is the first time for me on any sort of book list challenge. I've done extensive reading in the the genre's of classics, Sci-fi, Fantasy, and horror. I tend to write horror or mainstream with a flavor of spiritual supernatural things. I love reading those same things. It's unusual for me to stray from those genres in my reading which is why I want to broaden my spectrum a bit. It's funny though, as I was looking through the genre list trying to find a book that fit into the "genre I've never heard of" catagory, I found several, but when I looked at books in those genre's I had read some of them already. Meh, go figure! I look forward to getting to know some of you in the year to come.

message 422: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Sorentino (jessicasorentino) Hi! I'm Jessica, and I'm in NYC. I'm a big reader and work for Simon & Schuster. I've done this challenge the past three years with my cousin, but only now realized there's a Goodreads group. Thanks for having me!

message 423: by Rona (new)

Rona (ronadareader) Hi,
I am Rona from Wexford in Ireland.
I have taken part in a previous Popsugar Challenge but sadly I wasn't able to complete it. Hopefully I will manage to complete this challenge, this year. Look forward to getting to know you all and chatting about books x

message 424: by Hailey (new)

Hailey Bunton (haileybunton) | 20 comments Hi, I'm Hailey! I am a 24 year old stay at home wife from the midwest! I came across many different reading challenges via Pinterest and I decided this one seemed the most fun and challenging. I usually read murder mysteries so this is a fun way to broaden my horizons. I can't wait to chat with you guys about our progress this year. Good luck everyone!!!!

message 425: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 129 comments Kathy from Iowa! Recently unemployed, so I have some time to devote to my reading, I look forward to reading stuff outside my usual choices, so I'm excited to participate this year!

message 426: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments I'm not actually new, I started in 2015. But this past year I got pregnant in February and was extremely ill until around mid August... then I had a baby in September, so I pretty much dropped out. I created my own challenge and group with fewer prompts and finished that instead. I've been following along and commenting on crossover prompts occasionally and even did the monthly a couple times. But this year I'm back all in so thought I'd reintroduce myself. I'm Tara, I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada and I have 2 boys 2.5 and 4 months. I love to read and have always been a voracious reader but I have trouble reading when I'm pregnant so after having my older son I found this challenge and group and it's all downhill from there!

message 427: by Emanuel (new)

Emanuel | 253 comments hello,I'm Emanuel from Portugal live to read books, normally read per year the same ammount of my number of years old. excuse me for my basic english, I'll try to give frequent oppinions. i´t's my first time with this challenge, but I did others years ago.

message 428: by Rashiqa (last edited Jan 02, 2017 09:11AM) (new)

Rashiqa | 2 comments Hello All,
My name is Rashiqa. I live in Madison, WI. With a busy life, work, and family, I try to read as much as possible, catching a few minutes here and there in my day. I haven't caught up on the idea of audiobooks or e-books because I still love the feel of a real book in my hands (If you are wondering.......I am not old! I am in my late thirties :)). Maybe it is time to do that if I want to read more! For 2016, I set a reading challenge of 20 books but could go through only 18 :(
I came across the Popsugar challenge on the goodreads app and I am excited to try out the 40 book challenge (haha!). Especially, looking forward to the variety of books that it introduces me to!

message 429: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Evans Hey everyone. I'm Pamela. I live in Arizona. I discovered this challenge online, I think through facebook? I work at Barnes and Noble and my paycheck stays with them. I have never been a part of a reading group of any kind. I tend to read teen books but only because the price tends to be smaller. I am looking forward to this and hope to be involved in discussions as well.

message 430: by Nikaiba (new)

Nikaiba | 4 comments Hi, I'm Nicola from Ynys Mon - the Isle of Anglesey, off the coast of North Wales.
I'm hoping to read through the list using a mixture of my TBR pile (which is roughly the height of Snowdon!) and some new books.
I'll happily read either e-books or paper books. I love a 'proper' book, but I do a lot of travelling, so e-books are much more convenient!

message 431: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments Hi all,
I'm Emma from England. Formerly a voracious reader, these days not so much, so hoping this challenge will get me reading more.

I'm matching as many of the prompts as possible to books I already have either on my kindle or on my shelf/bedside pile - I know it's supposed to be about discovering new things but I really need the push to read what I already have (I still buy books as if I'm reading 1 a week, but it's been more like 1 every 2 months lately!)

I'm trying to save money and not buy any new for at least 6 months, but I can raid the library, DP's shelves and borrow from family or friends to supplement my own tbr pile and break me out of my comfort zone.

message 432: by Lakendra (new)

Lakendra (anime1luv) Hello everyone,

I'm Lakendra from Louisiana. I work at the public library in Calcasieu Parish and I read all the time.

I usually don't keep up with adding all of my books to Goodreads but I'll try to this time lol.

I have Ideas for my book list of the prompts on the Reading Challenge but I was wondering if reading stuff like Manga, Graphic Novels and Comics count for the prompts? Or is that more of a personal choice? Thanks for all your help :)

message 433: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments Lakendra it's a personal choice. Everyone kind of decides for themselves. 2 years ago someone tried to do all of them with graphic novels, some people count rereads and audiobooks, some people don't. Some people allow doubling up some don't. Some will include kids books and others have a minimum page count etc you just have to decide what rules if any you want to impose on yourself then go for it. It's a fun personal challenge, do what will make you happy :)

message 434: by Kariane (new)

Kariane Hello everyone. My name is Kariane from NV. really excited for this reading challenge. I love to read but find that I read the same type of book over and over again. Looking over the categories for this challenge I think it will really help me open up to other books.

message 435: by Clio (new)

Clio | 1 comments Hi. I'm Clio, from UK. Cannot attend my book club at the moment because of other commitments and looking for that push into unfamiliar reading matter that the Book Club usually provides. Looking forward to seeing other people's choices.

message 436: by Debi Dreese-Hoch (new)

Debi Dreese-Hoch | 15 comments Hello, there! I am Debi, a retired Nurse (if that is possible) from Pennsylvania, USA. I heard about this challenge when a friend mentioned she finished the 2016 challenge a few days ago. I’ve never done a challenge before, but it sounds like fun. I’ve had the most wonderful time choosing books to fulfill all the prompts!!! And it looks like over half of them will be from my TBR shelf. I’ve been a life-long reader - when I was young and my Mom couldn’t find me, she’d call the town library and tell the Librarian to send me home for supper. ;) It’s great finding out that my book stash isn’t as anomalous as I had thought!! I’m looking forward to reading genre’s I don’t normally read, and stepping out of my comfort zone a bit! Here’s to the adventure!!

message 437: by Becki (new)

Becki Kuik | 4 comments Hi everyone! My name is Becki and I live in Madison, WI. I just finished graduate school last month and decided to celebrate my reading independence with a reading challenge. I'm really excited to give this a try and hopefully make it through at least the main list.

message 438: by Andrene (new)

Andrene Hi all!
I'm from New York and I use to read all the time when I was younger. I don'tknow why I stopped but now I want to read again. I did not know where to start until I came across this challenge from a booktuber. I look forward to an exciting new year with falling in love with reading again.

message 439: by Colette (new)

Colette Taylor | 1 comments Hi my name is Colette. I am from Johannesburg South Africa. I am very excited about this reading challenge and really looking forward to it. I have never taken part in a book challenge although have always enjoyed reading. I work as an accountant and I am a single parent to an 18 year old. My daughter is off to University this year.

message 440: by Cintia (new)

Cintia (cinjm) Hi! My name is Cintia, I'm from Mexico and I've been trying to achieve the Popsugar challenge since 2015, but I tend to read everything but what is on the list. I'm willing to try again this year.

message 441: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Hi! I am Nicole. I love reading, but often only have times to read on the weekends which causes me to binge most of my reading challenge books.

message 442: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (book_lover2000) Hi everyone! My name is Nicole. I'm 17 and from Brazil and I am super excited for this challenge!!

message 444: by Heather (new)

Heather (heather_merrick) I'm Heather and I live in Jersey City, NJ, just outside New York City. I loved reading as a teen, but not so much nowadays. I'd like to change that.

message 445: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (danihanna) My name is Danielle and I live is Asheville, North Carolina. I am 14 and hope by joining this reading challenge it will push me to read some books I wouldn't normally read. I am very excited to try this! Good luck everyone!!

message 446: by Gaelle (new)

Gaelle Zwaenepoel | 1 comments Hey everyone! I'm Gaelle and I live in Belgium. I attempted to complete the challenge in 2015 and 2016 but life (read: writing a thesis and studying abroad in Japan) got in the way and I barely made it halfway, so I hope 2017 is the year I'll finally make it work. I love the idea of a challenge because it forces me to read books outside of what I usually read. Good luck everyone! :)

message 447: by Christine (new)

Christine H | 496 comments Hi everyone! I'm Christine - I live in North Carolina, USA, with my husband and two daughters. I love to read, but with a busy life (and OK, video games) distracting me, it's nice to have the challenge to spur me a bit.

I discovered the challenge mid-year of 2016 and I found it encouraged me to try some things I might not otherwise read, and definitely inspired me to read some things I've had sitting in TBR. Hopefully this year I'll get through even more prompts!

message 448: by Eugene (new)

Eugene (eugenezho) | 1 comments Hello fellow readers. My name is Eugene from Sydney Australia. I stumbled across the challenge on a friend's Twitter feed and thought it would be s great way to expand my reading horizons.

I only recently got back into reading 2 years ago when I bought a Kindle. Last year my reading challenge was to read 24 books (2 a month) of any kind and I'm proud to say I hit 30 on NYE.

message 449: by Samantha (WLABB) (new)

Samantha (WLABB) (samanthawlabb) Hello! My name is Sam, and I live in Iselin, NJ. I have a long daily commute (3 hours), which gives me a lot of time to read. I read a lot as a kid, but then all my reading became school or work related. When I left teaching, I found I have "me" time and was inspired by my book blogging daughter to start pleasure reading again. My daughter recently asked me to contribute to her blog, so I am very excited about being a WLABBer.

I decided to do something besides the Goodreads challenge in order to guide my reading a little more, and I am excited about this challenge.

message 450: by Sprout117 (new)

Sprout117 | 1 comments Hi Everyone,

I'm Jennifer from Long Beach, NY - I recently came across the popsugar challenge as well as the book riot challenge and the books and ladders challenge. I couldn't choose between the three so I decided to kind of put them together. Is that allowed in this group? I wasn't sure if this was just focused on popsugar....
