Hi. I am Katja, 43-year-old second year English Major from Turku, Finland. Yes, I decided to go back to university at a mature age, but I know that I am just where I'm supposed to be. If all goes as planned I will get my MA when I'm almost 47.

I love to read, but I am quite a slow reader and there were many many years in between when I really didn't read almost at all, but now for the past few years I have picked up my pace and this year I have almost achieved my goal to read 30 books (and I will achieve it, as I am half way through my 30th book). I decided to do this challenge for next year (but will be checking off more tasks than one per book, if they fit) to expand my reading experience.

Krissa33 | 6 comments Hello, I'm Krissa, I'm German but I live in France since 1990. I do a challenge like this since two or three years, with my Bookcrossing friends. You can find me on www.bookcrossing.com with my screenname Krissa33

I love reading since I'm a little girl, I read quickly and a lot...

My MTBR is very high, so I'll read my books first and than I'll see wich of them fits in the challenge, like I do every year.

Nice to meet you here!

Happy reading - and mery Christmas and a happy new year!

Ariel | 126 comments Hello! I'm Ariel. Originally from North Carolina, currently from Indiana, but working as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Indonesia right now. I love to read but my reading severely dropped off in college. I graduated in 2014 and I'm slowly working to get my numbers back up. I started the challenge in 2015 (did not get very far) but doing much better this year. I figured I needed a group to motivate me to make it all the way in 2017. I like to try to find books already on my (ridiculously out-of-control) To Read lists that fit the prompts but I also hope to get lots of new ideas from here.

Emily Chan | 4 comments Hi everyone! I'm Emily, 44, stay at home mom. I love to run, read and garden. Question: can I use one book for multiple prompts?

If you like. Some of us do, some don't.

message 356: by Ann (new)

Ann | 83 comments Hi all, This is Ann. I missed the challenge last year, so here I go for 2017. Just planning things out. I'm a librarian and have been doing it for about 15 years (time flies!) I used to work in public libraries and now I work in a special library. I live in the Vancouver area. I also love book recommendations too.

message 357: by Corrin (new)

Corrin Noggle | 6 comments Hello, my name is Corrin. I am a 37 year old teacher at a boot camp. Reading is my life. This is my third pop sugar challenge but the first time I have been in a group for it. Good luck to all!

message 358: by Katy (new)

Katy | 18 comments Hello, I am Katy, a flight attendant / writer from Surrey, British Columbia. Last month, I suffered what could be a life-altering injury to my lower back, which means that I can no longer work at a job that I have loved for almost 20 years. While I wait for spinal surgery, which could take months, I have all the time in the world to read. My friend Kylie, who is a beloved member of my women's writing group, suggested this challenge, and I believe it's the best thing I have heard in months. So, here I am. Looking forward to your lists and comments.

message 359: by DGoetsch (new)

DGoetsch Hello, I am Dorgene from Wisconsin. This is my first attempt at a reading challenge, hoping to get back to more reading since becoming an empty nester :)

message 360: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie | 23 comments Hi I'm Chrissie, from Australia. I did 2016's challenge, through a smaller goodreads group and was hooked. I'm always on the lookout for interesting books to read. :)

message 361: by Maisys (new)

Maisys Hi everyone !
I'm Manon and I'm from France !
I like to read young adult fiction and dystopian novels. I like also childrens books because I study publishing especially for children and teenagers and i loooove this.

I started reading books in english this year for pleasure (and not for my studies !) but i would like to read more in english this year. I hope this challenge would help me ! :)

message 362: by Bridgette (new)

Bridgette (bridgettem) Hello, everyone! I'm Bridgette from Florida. I tried the 2015 Pop Sugar reading challenge this year (a year late, oops!) on my own and had a blast with it. I read about 100 books a year and tend to stick with the same authors/genres, so the challenge has helped me branch out. 2017's challenge looks amazing, I can't wait rock get started! I love meeting new people, so please feel free to friend me! :)

Happy Reading!!'

Sofie (sostorm) | 56 comments Hi! I'm Sofie from Sweden, 30ish and reads in English, Swedish, French and during 2017 hopefully German as well. I've seen these kinds of challenges before but this is the first time I'm participating. I saw someone post it on facebook and decided to join them for this challenge. I usually read around 30 books a year but thought I'd give this a go, not going to stress over it if I don't succeed though.

message 364: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (smurfatik) | 29 comments Hi, I am Fiona originally from the UK but currently living in Sweden. I found out about the challenge via Pinterest. I have been doing my own reading challenges during 2016 and have read some amazing books I would never have thought of reading as a result. I read a lot and there is nothing I like more than browsing a bookshop. But my choices for English language books is a bit limited so I was hoping getting involved with this group would help with ideas. I have a blog about my challenges from 2016.

message 366: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Moore | 64 comments Hey!

I'm Jess. I'm 29, living in Iowa, married with three daughters. Reading keeps me sane and I really wanted a challenge and potential "book club" in 2017 to keep me reading fresh material. I'm so glad I found this!

message 367: by Saskia (new)

Saskia (saskiad) I am Saskia and I am from The Netherlands. I love a good Fantasy novel, historical fiction, some Sci-fi, a bit of romance and this year I have been reading a lot of BDSM related books.

I did the challange this year but didn't get all. I read plenty of books, just not a lot that fitted into the challenge.

message 368: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (belalusia) Hi, I'm Jamie. I did the 2016 challenge, but am just now joining the group. I'm excited to start this challenge in 2017! Not sure what else to say here, so...hello and happy reading everyone. :)

message 369: by Nerdy Panda (last edited Dec 27, 2016 03:00PM) (new)

Nerdy Panda (twobrokegirlswithbooks) (_readingpanda_) | 52 comments I'm Rebekah, a 24-year-old reader living in Michigan. I heared about the challenge in 2015 from a post on tumblr and I thought it would be a fun thing to do. :)

message 370: by Betty (new)

Betty Q I'm Betty. I'm 49 years old and from Mississippi. I taught special education for 18 years and just burned myself out. I'm now working at two small libraries and loving it. I need to diversify my reading so I can be more effective, and I need something to push me to read more books than I do currently. I think this challenge will be just what I need, and this group will help me stay motivated!

message 371: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Sterling | 153 comments Hi, everyone! I'm Nicole. I'm 39 years old and live in Oklahoma with my husband of 17 years and our 9-year-old son. Between my full-time job, volunteering for the children's program at my church on Sundays & Wednesdays, shuttling my son back & forth for activities, and working around my husband's non-traditional schedule, I have not had much time to read over the past few years. Ever since I was a child, I have just devoured books, but in the last few years, especially the last couple, I am lucky to read 5 books a year. That's not counting the books I read with my son, which are many, but he's not quite up to middle school/young adult books yet, so I don't really count those, because most of them are not something I would read on my own.

Anyway, I have decided that since I love reading so much, and I really miss it, doing a challenge would be a great way to get back in the routine. I may have to schedule time to read in my planner like an appointment, which seems sad, but as long as I get to read, I'm okay with that. I have my list all written out, and as soon as I get it transferred to the thread, I'll be ready to go. I got some books I wanted for Christmas, and it's all I can do to wait until January 1st to start reading them! :)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Welcome, all!!

message 373: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello I'm Vera I'm 26. You could say I am almost obsessed with books. I constantly search for new books and add them on here 'to read'. I don't exactly have a favorite genre but I do like to read a little bit of everything just to give me variety of what's out there.

message 374: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathy_unapologetically) Hi everyone! I'm Cathy and I live in Missouri. I am married, have 4 children (1 boy, 3 girls) and 1 granddaughter. I work for a non-profit organization as an early education/quality childcare coordinator. I get to read a lot at work, mostly research, policies/procedures so when I stumbled upon the reading challenge I got very excited! I really do enjoy reading and have missed the land of fiction for quite sometime now.

I read kindle books as well as actual books, in fact the formal dining room in my house is my library room (who needs a formal dining room when you are a collector of books?!?).

Anyway, I have selected all 52 books for the both the regular challenge and the advanced and I even got myself a library card! I am optimistic that I will finish all 52 so here's to a great reading year!

Sundhus (pinkbarbarian) | 12 comments Hello! My name is Sundhus. I'm 26. From Maldives. A mom to a beautiful baby girl.

Mostly stuck with authors I'm familiar with. But I'm trying to be open about it. Try new genres.

My best friend convinced me to join this group to do the 2017 challenge with her. Ever since the baby was born, i don't get much time or any time to read but, I'm up for the challenge! So excited!! :D

message 378: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Welcome! The Maldives? I keep on hearing how the ocean is swallowing you up.

message 379: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Miller | 9 comments Hi! I'm Tracey, I live in Indiana near Chicago. I am married and we have three children. We have been blessed to be able to do foster care, too!
I teach from home online asynchronous, so I love to listen to books while I work. I did the challenge for 2016 but got a late start. I'm excited to read through the 2017 challenge with others!
I found this group on the pop sugars posting of the new challenge.

message 380: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (suzanneperezict) Hi there. My name is Suzanne, and work as an education reporter for The Wichita Eagle, a daily newspaper in Wichita, Kan. I grew up in North Carolina (N.C. State class of '90! Woot!) but moved to Kansas since graduating from college and have lived here ever since. I am 48, married, and have two (nearly grown) kids -- Hannah, 19, and Jack, 16.

I belong to a couple book clubs here in Wichita but am always on the lookout for new challenges and ways to expand my reading. This will be my first year for this challenge, and I look forward to seeing how everyone interprets the categories. Nice to meet y'all. :)

message 381: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 5 comments Hi, everyone! Im Nicole from Connecticut. I'm currently in a Master's program for English/Creative Writing, so hopefully some of the books I read for school will work for the challenge as well. I'm looking forward to completing the challenge with everyone!

message 382: by Terry (new)

Terry Hall | 8 comments Hello. :) My name is Terry, and I'm from Virginia. I read a diverse selection of books, but I tend towards fantasy and science fiction. I started the challenge this year to break out of a reading rut where I just keep reading similar books: that won't be an option this year.

message 383: by Janet (new)

Janet | 49 comments I am Janet, I joined last year but really did not keep up, looking to start fresh this year. I love to read different genres so this fits perfectly. I live in Norwalk, CT - Is there anyway of meeting up with any other Pop Sugar people in CT who might want to meet for coffee and share what they are reading?

message 384: by Kelly (new)

Kelly McInnes | 6 comments Hello! I'm Kel, from Australia. Loving the prompts his year, have done a number of challenges over the years, but first time joining a good reads group (so bear with me while I inevitably make a few mistakes)! Have a few books on my need to read list already so will start with those!

message 385: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Tupaea | 41 comments Hi, I'm Jen! I'm from Scotland but living in Australia.
I tried to follow this challenge last year on my own but tried to stick to books I own ( or the tons of impulse buys I regularly make) rather than having a predefined list. Hoping the group suggestions will help me have a bit more focus next year! :)

Rhanda (galsgotmoxie) | 7 comments Hi! I'm Rhanda. I *almost* completed the 2016 challenge and am hoping to actually finish the challenge this year. I've found it to be a great way to expand my reading horizons :)

I usually allow one book to count for two prompts (but no more than two!), and I try to complete the "advanced" section as well. 26 books seems a respectable number for a year.

Anyway -- excited to greet the new year with new books and take on the challenge with you lovely, like-minded folks. :)

My name is Ebony and I'm new to the group as of this morning. lol My friend and I tried starting our own book club this year, but noone but us really wanted to join. : ( Her name is Sharon and she introduced me to the group, so i'm happy to be starting the new year off in the hopes of gaining new friends and new reads. Christina Mintz-Fernandez | 1 comments Hello! I'm Christina, a 27 year-old technical writer in Salt Lake City, UT.
I created a book club with some friends last year, and the other women in it convinced me to join this challenge with them for 2017.
While I love reading, I often find it hard to make time to read for fun. I am hoping that this challenge will help me to read more than I have since high school and in a much larger variety of topics and genres.

message 395: by Ninna (new)

Ninna | 20 comments Hello! My name is Ninna and I am a 47 year old mom who lives in Maryland. I belong to a book club which I love but I was very excited to find this reading challenge to add to my book list. I have already enjoyed reading through the prompts, reading advice and great discussions which helped me build my challenge list. I think I am just about ready to post my completed list. Looking forward to a fun year of reading!

Alison (a1ison74) | 27 comments Hi all, I'm Alison and I'm from Scotland.

I did this challenge a couple of years ago but didn't take part last year and really missed it. I love reading and this challenge is always a great way to read outwith your comfort zone and find some new books and authors.

I'm very excited to find this group as there are definitely a few tasks this year where I'm in need of some inspiration.

message 397: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm Vera 27. I'm obsessed with books but have a hard time finding the time to read any of the books because I have a 2 year old who constantly wants my attention. I practically only read when she's sleeping. so I'm hoping that for 2017 one of my New Year's resolution will be to read a whole lot more and hopefully this challenge will give me that push :).

message 398: by Laura (new)

Laura | 4 comments Hi! I'm Laura from Scotland.

I show this challenge on Pinterest and thought it would be a great way to expand my reading as I tend to read the same things all the time. I haven't read in a while as I never seem to have the time but hopefully joining this challenge will make me set some time aside each day to read.

Good luck everyone :)
