I am currently living in France and I just discovered this challenge so I thought I'll give it a try.
Can't wait to share it with you all. :)

Do check it out, and I hope you enjoy my content. If you do, I would be grateful if you could spread the word among other fellow bibliophiles

If you have any good Rom-com books you recommend I'm in the mood to laugh and read something light!

I'm Odette, 30yo, Dutch. I was a bookseller until the covid crisis hit, now I'm looking for a new job. I married last year, on ur 10th anniversary, and we moved into our house half a year ago. Currently we're looking to get a pup in the house :)
I read a lot. I read a lot when I was a kid, and then college hit.. Thankfully, one of my friends from college got me into reading and onto goodreads again and now, for me, reading is a way of life.
I was always a bit hassitant for this challenge because I'm quite notorious of not finishing TBR's for challenges.. But I decided to see how far I've got already because I've read so much already this year (yay for quarantaine..)! I've got 21 of the first 40 already, and 3 of the last 10, the advanced. All 4 of my currently reads can be placed as well, 2 at the advanced! I got many books still unplaced, but some are hard to match. I really love puzzling further and reading more for certain challenges!

I've always been an avid reader, but never had a community around it. I only just found the groups on Goodreads this year, even though I've been using it for a while. Some of my college friends formed a book club a few years back that I've been in, but I'm one of the more active readers in the group.
My genre of choice these days seems to be urban fantasy and science fiction, but more on the magic side of things than the vampire/werewolf. I also read a lot of non-fiction, mostly history. I usually focus on World War 2 or the American Revolution, but I'm reading a lot of Asian and Middle Eastern history right now. I still love reading romantic suspense, but I don't read it as often.
When the pandemic hit and I realized I couldn't have the wedding I'd been planning, I took refuge in my books. I found the Read Harder challenge, then the Reading Women challenge, which led me to this challenge . Between the three, I've branched out to a lot of books I never would have considered before. I'm also reading all those books I bought during a Kindle sale but then forgot about. I'm also taking advantage of my local library way more than I ever have in the past, which my finance appreciates since I'm buying fewer books.
Glad to be here, can't wait to start connecting with everyone!

I read. A lot. For as long as I can remember. Well, unless my medical crap gets in the way. (One of my flare medications makes it difficult to read, and my auditory processing is bad enough that audiobooks don't work unless it's something I've already read.)
About a year or so ago I discovered a whole lot of nifty reading challenges, and now I'm kinda addicted to them. This year I'm doing PopSugar, Reading Women, Read Harder, the Unread Shelf Project, #20ReadsIn2020, and the Modern Mrs. Darcy. With everything that's going on at the University to help keep our dancers safe I'm not reading as much as I planned by this point, but I still think I can finish (at least most of) the challenges before the end of the year.
Happy reading!

My name is Wanda and I currently live in Jacksonville, FL. I joined this challenge because I hoped it would push me to reading more hard copy books. I was an avid reader growing up, but slacked off a lot in my 20’s and 30’s. I’ve been reading a lot more since I discovered audiobooks. I love the convenience of them, as I can read while doing other things, like cleaning and cooking, but I miss good old fashioned paperbacks. Anyway, I join this group to push myself to read more, in terms of quantity, variety and quality! See you in the threads!

My name is Meredith and I live in Florida. I read a lot, and even more during the pandemic. I found this link when looking for online book clubs and have been slotting my reading into the categories for this year and enjoying the suggestions in this group site so far.

and I would love it if everyone who can joins. Every new member is completely appreciated! Thank you for your time!

Thanks !

Since your survey doesn't ask about non literary fiction reading, you can't really assume that the lit fiction is what's making people have greater empathy. I just put a few hours down for lit fic, thinking you'd ask about other reading later, but you don't. I read a LOT more genre fiction so I feel my answers are misleading, but no way to remove them now. Would love a study that showed that reading well written fiction from any genre improves empathy!

I am Linda, a retired nurse living in Southern Arizona. I am here because I love to set reading challenges for myself. I have won quite a few books from Goodreads Giveaways. I have quite a stash from book sales and volunteering in our friend’s bookshop. I am just finishing a book alphabet goal with 3 more to read before the end of the year. Next year I plan to do the author alphabet. I’ve looked at the PopSugar reading challenges and they are intriguing. I want to give it a shot for 2021. I hope books from my stash will fit the challenge. Thanks for letting me join!

The Dutch library system isn’t compatible with kindle so I have bought a different ereader. Yes, just ordered it. Until now I read paper books. But with libraries closing due to Covid I needed a back up plan. Win win my library also let me borrow ebooks and audiobooks.
I read everything and nothing from ‘high end’ literature to trashy chick to original classics and cook books and always several books at the same time which can lead to procrastination.

I ` m new in Goodreads and found this group browsing around the website.
I love to read and with Covid-19 I got to read a lot since we are mostly in our homes. Looking forward to give the popsugar 2021 a go. I mostly read crime stories and fantasy so this challenge will give me a extended variety.
Take care everyone🌸🌸

There is an "edit membership link" at the bottom of the group description, if you click that it will give you an option to leave.

Is it the whole group you want to leave or maybe you're getting waaay too many email notifications from new members on this thread...?
Ellie has explained how to leave the challenge group but if it's the emails thing - at the bottom of this page just above the comment box it might say "You are following this discussion"
If you hit the 'Edit' button there, you can change this to 'None' and the emails will stop!!

I've only found out about groups and challenges on goodreads XD.
Being a really active group, it seems like a fun way to discover new books, authors, share our thoughts with various people.
Can't wait to scroll through your own lists for 2021!

So I look forward to a reading year full of fun and companionship (and expansion of my knowledge of the English language ;) )

I read a lot of non-fiction, especially books about sports, food, history, and human behavior. I'm going to make more of an effort to review books on GR this year. Feel free to connect with me.

So for next year I hope being part of this group will keep my spirits high and my enthusiasm in full speed.
I read a lot SFF, but want to expand to at least 1 classic and 1 non-fiction/ month.
