Catie (gollywollypogs) | 13 comments Hello, I'm Catie from Guildford in England. I'm in my late fifties, married with two grown up children, two grandchildren and of course two gorgeous cats.
I love to read but have been finding in recent years that other things like work, crafts, and computer games have been luring me away.
This challenge should be the perfect thing to get me reading more - I like the way it has plenty of wriggle room and I will be skipping about. Currently deciding where to place the books I have already read this year.

Kali | 18 comments Hi! I'm Kali from Michigan. I found this group through my friend Juanita (who also introduced me to the PopSugar challenge). I'm a mom of two who works full-time and loves everything about books! I'm a realist with a crazy life, so I'm not expecting to get through 52 books this year, but I'm going to try my best! Already have gotten great ideas from this group!

Amy (amy_cnc) | 7 comments Hi. I'm Amy from Mississippi. Just saw this challenge on Pinterest and it sounded like just the thing to restart my reading "mojo". I love to read but recently life has gotten in the way. I've been a GoodReads member for a while but not very active. I have enjoyed reading the comments so far and have already gotten several good ideas for books.

Ann Welcome Catie, Kali, Amy and Miki. So glad you have found our group. Happy reading to all of you!

Mary Ellen | 3 comments Hi everyone, I'm from California, and have been living in France for nearly 20 (!) years now. I have belonged to the same book group for 10 years now. There are 10 of us, we meet 10 months of the year, each of us choosing one book. That diversifies my reading some, but found some of the prompts for this group enchanting! A book a week is a bit ambitious for me, but I have set a goal of 2 books per month, which is more realistic for me. Looking forward to it!

Thank you for joining! 2 books a month sounds like a great goal. I hope you have fun being a part of our group and letting us know which books you are reading.

Happy Reading and Welcome!

I live currently in Ireland as an au pair.
My written english is still not incredibly good so pls go easy on my spelling mistakes :)

I thougth that this challenge would be a good idea, because at the mom I'm only reading books with the same theme.
Looking forward to this and I hope I can find some good suggestions here.

Elizabeth | 1 comments Hi all! My name is Liz. I'm an attorney born and raised in NYC. I love to read! My job can be quite demanding at times which limits my free time, but I am committed to meeting this challenge! My sister, who is also doing the challenge, told me about it. I am not only excited about stretching the genre of books I generally read but also to be able to meet this challenge with my baby sister - who lives in Georgia so I don't get to chat with her often enough about fun things!

Hello sisters! My sister is also doing this challenge with me. I think we have quite a few familial pairs doing the challenge with each other. I love it. It gives you a whole other perspective on books you're reading. Welcome!!

Ann, the group is *All About Books* and it's the 2015 Bingo Challenge. They say that they got the idea from Sugarpop.

Maggie | 0 comments Hi everyone, I'm Maggie from Portland, Oregon. This book challenge has been so interesting to me and I was so thrilled to find this group. I think I would have gotten farther along by now if I had had the accountability/company to stay updated, but I think I'm getting caught up. I'm reading book 8 so I'm only 4 or 5 behind. The only thing is that I have chosen quite a few LONG books! Hopefully this group will keep me motivated because I really want to complete this challenge! I have definitely planned out some books to read that I never would have chosen otherwise.

message 169: by Amy (new)

Amy Brack (amysue713) Hi I'm Amy from Austin Texas. I wish I'd seen this group months ago, but I'm happy to be here now! I love reading, and really look forward to expanding my views and reading things I typically wouldn't.

Michelle {Book Hangovers} (bookhangoverz) Hooray!! I am so glad I found a group on goodreads, that's doing this challenge, as well as me!! (I googled the group, lol)
So.... My name is Michelle and I've been doing this challenge since January. I was delighted to do this challenge bc I wanted to challenge myself to start this year more open to reading books outside of my usual genre (sci-fi/Fantasy)
I can't believe the stuff I've been missing out on by limiting myself. I love this challenge and I'm thrilled about this group!! Now I have people to discuss all the rad new books I've been reading :)
Good luck to all with the challenge! Looking forward to chatting up more "books" with y'all!
Happy Reading xoxo

message 175: by AlegnaB † (last edited Apr 20, 2015 05:33AM) (new)

AlegnaB † (alegnab) I'm a 50yo mother of four children. My two older children are in college, and my two younger children are being homeschooled. I officially started homeschooling in 1996, so I've been at it a long time.

I started this challenge on Jan 2 but just recently discovered this group. Since I like to use challenge trackers, I started a group so I could make my own for this challenge: https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/... .

I read a lot of Christian fiction. I also enjoy clean Regency romance, especially Georgette Heyer's books. I read quite a bit of non-fiction, also.

CherD (cheryde) Hello Everyone, I am Cheryl from Cody WY. I am 61, work as a medical transcriptionist (have for years) and am a word nerd as well as a book lover since I first learned to read. I have a 22 year old son (who I wish would read more, but ....) I have been participating in this challenge through another group in Goodreads but decided to join here as well. So far I have read 13 books for the challenge,as well as the books for my other groups. and love doing this as it has taken me to books I probably would have not picked up on my own initiative.

message 182: by Melody (new)

Melody | 208 comments Hello!

My name is Melody! I'm 25 and I live in Los Angeles. I graduated college last year, and am using the challenge to add some structure to my reading list, as I've never not had required reading before. Also, I've been accumulating books to read after I finally finishing schooling for years now and have been completely overwhelmed by choices.
I'm a slower reader and a contemplative one, so I plan on double and triple counting books to get them all in, as even reading 25 books in a year would be a lot for me (I tend to average between 12 and 20 books a year). Furthermore, reading is a very emotional space for me and a book has to match my mood for me to really get into it, so reading lists rarely go as planned.
I joined this group because I am very curious as to see what books other people choose for specific challenges, and possibly get suggestions for more difficult challenges.

Elizabeth Hi everyone I'm Elizabeth,I'm 37 but will be turning 38 this August 15.I'm from Charleston WV ,just found out about this group but I have done reading challenges in the past, actually I just started doing them this year. When I'm not reading I'm watching really old black and white movies from the 20s,30s,40s,50s, and 60s,playing with my 3 dogs Mia,Freddie, and our newest puppy Spooky, talking to my lovebird Alchemy, and taken photos, and spending time with my mom and sister.

Jazel Elaine (herinfiniteeyes) | 7 comments Hi! I think I'm kinda late here, but better late than never, right?LOL I'm Jazel. I'm from the Philippines. 24 years old, pharmacist.

I'm currently at 27/52, which means I'm a bit behind schedule, but I'm really enjoying this challenge. I love reading through other challengers' lists because I end up discovering real gems. I look forward to see what you all are reading. :)

message 185: by Sparrow (new)

Sparrow Hello! Another sorta new North Carolinian here. I am 22, a tutor, and an artist. I love teaching, photography, (and I will be teaching photography in autumn!), literature, visual art, cinema, and generally speaking, I simply love all art. My favorite genre is horror, but I'm extremely picky about the horror I read. It used to be that if I didn't like it, I would put it down, because why waste time? But I've realized there is always something to gain from a book, whether it is distasteful, badly written, downright atrocious, or tremendously beautiful. I like lyrical styles of writing, (think: Victorian Era, particularly), so this challenge is truly a challenge, since I feel the age of poetic prose has gone down the drain. I've found quite a few though so far so I might be wrong in that. ;) But it certainly is hard to find that kind of writing in horror.

Anyway, I am eager to gain a broadened view. I have my preplanned reading list on Goodreads, which has changed a little and a little more, due mainly to the fact that I've read books that deviated from the original. It still has to be updated. I found an awesome printable where you can write the titles next to the categories, and that's how I was able to craft the list.

Anyway, my favorite color is red, I have two cats, I like German electronica (among most other genres of music, but I especially gravitate towards German electronica), and I write a lot of bad poetry.

I think that's a sufficient intro, yes? ;)

Hoping to win this challenge with all of you! Happy reading.

Oh, also, as of right now I have 32 books left. Time is flying, pages are not. ;-;

message 186: by Heloisa (new)

Heloisa Angeli (heloisa_angeli) Hello everyone! I found out about this challenge a few days ago. As it is august already I will do the challenge by puting in the categories only books that I'm absolutely sure that I have read in the present year. I'm not very sure how to use goodreads yet.

message 187: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lrclark83) Hi! I'm Lisa. I'm originally from Maine but now I live in suburban New York. I teach fourth grade in the Bronx. I heard about this group from a member of my Facebook challenge group and decided to join. Even though I didn't join this group until August I've been participating in the challenge since January. I'm excited about the challenge because it helps me branch out and read new authors and genres and helps me connect to avI'd readers all over the world. Although my family is full of readers, most of my friends in real life aren't so it's great to connect with a group of people who are excited and enthusiastic about reading and who can share ideas for books!

message 188: by Emanuele (new)

Emanuele (emabedo) Hey! I'm Emanuele, I'm a 27 year old Italian violin maker doing an internship in Milan, but I come from northern Tuscany.
I too joined this group (and goodreads in general) only a few days ago but I've been challenging my reading habits since January. I began with a 30ish book list but since I discovered goodreads I decided to expand to the complete 52 books challenge. Speaking of which I'd like to thank you all for every prompt, I used them as a priceless aid in my book choice.
Happy reading everyone!

message 189: by Sierra (new)

Sierra (sjones166) | 13 comments hello everyone! my name is Sierra I reside in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. I'm 26 years old and I am a manager of a public library outside the city. I'm a little late in contributing to this thread, been part of this group for several months now but joined late. I started this challenge because a bunch of coworkers were doing it, which we have actually decided to turn into a staff bookclub! we are starting late but basically we will choose prompts to complete for the rest of the year, one prompt per month for the club. (we are all at different stages and have completed different prompts not to say that we can't complete other prompts throughout the month) basically we will all read different books based on how we interpret the prompt that was chosen for the month and discuss at a monthly meeting. really looking forward to it! I am really enjoying the weekly threads and book suggestions thanks! :)

message 190: by Sarah (last edited Oct 26, 2015 08:44AM) (new)

Sarah Hello! I'm Sarah, I live in London. I've been doing this challenge since the start of the year (found it on Tumblr) but didn't know this group existed until just now. I was googling books based on a true story and it came up. I've only done 25 of the prompts so possibly the most behind of everybody here? Haha. I've read quite a few books that were off-prompt either because they were given to me as presents or just because I fancied reading them, plus I probably read slower than a lot of you (takes me two or three weeks to read an average-sized paperback). I guess most of what I read counts as chic lit but I do read other genres when I want something a bit deeper. I love books about friendship the most, I find it such a heartwarming theme. Wish I'd discovered this group earlier, might have encouraged me to get more prompts done but hey ho. See you around :)

message 191: by Ashly (new)

Ashly (ashlyh) Hi!, I'm Ashly. I live in New York. And I found this group because I decided to do the Popsugar 2016 challenge. I knew their had to be a group for this challenge, so I searched. And I found it. YAY!!! I'm a slow reader but I love to do challenges even if I don't finish them. For this challenge I'm going to write down the categories and put them in a TBR Jar. Some books on my TBR Shelf will also count for some categories, so I don't have to ignore those books.

Fannie D'Ascola | 438 comments Hello! I'm Fannie and I live near Montreal. I am a french speaker so I may do some mistakes when writing.

I love the idea of TBR Jar Ashly.

I did the 2015 challenge (still doing it), but I will not finish it since I'm on book 47. I hope I'll be better next year.

message 193: by Karin (new)

Karin | 9 comments Hello everyone!
I'm Karin from The Netherlands. I've participated in the 2015 challenge (not completely finished, but close enough) and thought it was a terrific way to broaden my reading horizon, so I was thrilled to find a new challenge for 2016.

I'm looking forward to finding out what everyone is reading.

message 194: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (earoberts5484) | 14 comments Hey y'all! My New Years Resolution is to read more, so I thought this challenge would be a perfect way to do that - it's my first reading challenge ever. I came across this group as I was looking for ideas for the 2016 challenge - I'm trying to have a list for each prompt, although I'm allowing myself to change my mind if something better comes around. I'm from Northern Kentucky, basically right across the river from Cincinnati, OH. I have 2 dogs, and in my free time (when it exists), I enjoy doing some volunteer work and checking out all the new restaurants/bars/breweries that keep popping up around here. I'm going to Hawaii in February, and I don't sleep on planes, so I'm hoping to knock out some of this list then!

I went to Hawaii for the first time in May. Loved it. I'm from Pittsburgh and that flight was a long one! Which island are you going to?

message 196: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Groves | 57 comments I've been doing this challenge all year but didn't know where it was from. I picked up a flier about it at the library, but there was nothing on it about the source. By posting a query in the discussions forum of another reading challenge group a few days ago, I discovered it was the PopSugar challenge.
As of now, mid-December, I have 14 items left to go. That includes a trilogy (I've read one in a series and hope to get to the others shortly), so actually it's 16. I won't finish by the end of the year but will keep working on it until everything is checked off while simultaneously starting on the 2016 challenge.
I look forward to participating in the group and being able to exchange ideas for books that fit some of the items that have me puzzled.

I'm Jessa and I'm a 25 year old college student in the southwest! :) I am always reading and I've found that having a challenge helps me narrow down my TBR list into a more approachable object! :D I have way too many books on there. Wait, who am I kidding? There is no such thing as too many!

I'm also starting a book blog, so I thought this was a perfect way to start! I will be reading more than 52 books this year, but I am excited to see where this sends me in finding new books I wouldn't have chosen otherwise!

Happy New Year!
