Lilith (lilithp) | 1073 comments Hi everyone, I'm Lilith from MA. I discovered the Popsugar Challenge in April last year, and I had a lot of fun! Found lots of great new-to-me authors and genres. I've always been an avid reader, and I especially love psychological suspense, mystery, and horror - the grittier, the better. I love this group and all the great book recommendations from members. Happy reading!

Cindi (cindilm) | 20 comments Hi, I'm Cindi and currently in Tacoma, Washington (USA). I haven't really done a reading challenge before, but am looking to break out of my usual reading nook, and am excited to try this out! I really love to hear from people who really love a particular book and why they wish to share it with others.

Hinda | 1 comments Hi! I’m hinda from Johannesburg South Africa and I’ve just discovered this challenge and have sent it to my bookclub and am very excited to tackle it. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to read 50 books this year- is one book allowed to tick more than one box! Wishing everyone a wonderful year of reading :)

Julia Farthing Kitay | 1 comments Hi! I'm Julia Kitay from Concord, California. I was looking for reading challenge for 2020 that would inspire me to read all the unread books I have accumulated. Yes, I'm a bibliomaniac of sorts. I'm a retired ESL teacher and love to travel also. Reading empowers me to travel with my imagination without leaving the comfort of my home.

Thali Ferreira (thalifm) | 7 comments Hello everyone! I'm Thalita, I am a brazilian living in London at the moment. I recently got a Kindle as a gift so I am really pumped to start reading all sort of things! I work from home as a designer so hopefully I can read between calls and assigments hahahaha
I like fantasy a lot but this year I am trying to diversify a bit.
Nice to meet you all!

message 1910: by Nupur Khare (new)

Nupur Khare | 2 comments Hallo, I am Nupur, Indian living in Germany. I love books, but lately I have a feeling that I am picking easy feel good books and all my reads are becoming quite single toned. So I looked at the reading Challenge and thought of it as a good way to diversify my bookshelf. Hoping to get a good mixture of comforting reads and uncomfortable reads through the Challenge.

message 1911: by Harley (new)

Harley (bookbandit86) | 1 comments Terra, 33, from utah.. S.A.H.M , 3 kids (12,5,3) book and video games are what I enjoy in my freetime. happy reading!

message 1912: by Katie (new)

Katie Sarah (katiesarah) Hi hi hi!
I set my goal at 40, and I really hope I can hit it!!
My name is Katie, I live in Minnesota. I used to be SUCH a big reader, and then with college and grad school, reading became much more of a luxury than anything! But i still love doing it! SO I'm making the intentional choices to read more!

message 1913: by Gwen (new)

Gwen Hi! I'm Gwen from Vermont. This is my first time participating in this challenge but I do love to read and I'm thinking I can maybe set a goal of 30. I've read 4 so far. I read all kinds of books: fantasy, YA, travel, memoirs, historical fiction, horror, suspense, biographies, etc. I don't read much romance but would entertain some good recommendations!

message 1914: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Piper (hope5980) | 4 comments I'm Sarah from Nebraska ... I've been a member for a while but never really participated. Looking forward to jumping in this year to add a little something extra to my reading for 2020.

message 1915: by Manoj (new)

Manoj Paprikar Hi I am doctor and an author. Just stumbled upon this challenge somehow. Hope that it helps to diversify my reads and gives me new ideas.
This is the first time I am picking up a challenge like this. Let's see where it goes....

message 1916: by Zoey (new)

Zoey P | 1 comments Hi, I'm Zoey! I'm a first year teacher librarian at a High School in Iowa. This is my first year doing a reading challenge, but I want to be better at finding books for my students that aren't always in my usual reads. I'm hoping this gives me more of a boost in my reading.

message 1917: by Allie (new)

Allie | 6 comments Hi, my name is Allie Rosen. I am a teacher and librarian in Lafayette, La. I'm aiming to read 30 books for the challenge, but I will likely commit to more throughout the year.

message 1918: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Koestner | 1 comments Hi all! I’m Cindy from Missouri. Reading is my serious addiction and I try to fit some reading in every time I have a free minute. I just discovered the popsugar reading challenge this year and I’m loving it because I’m getting to some books that have been on my shelf for awhile.

message 1919: by Donna (new)

Donna (pigsandbooks) | 5 comments Hello! I'm Donna from Texas. I was looking for some suggestions for some of the prompts and came upon this group. I'm so happy to have found it, this is my first Popsugar challenge!

message 1920: by Tonya (new)

Tonya McLaughlin (teemac1975) | 1 comments Hi I'm Tonya from Maine. This is my first reading challenge and am so excited to be a part of this community. I decided to join to diversify my reading genres as well as challenge myself to read more. I typically like to read murder/suspense/thriller but have recently been expanding into contemporary romance and historical fiction which I have surprisingly enjoyed. I have learned by expanding my genres, I have gotten more excited about reading and am always on a quest for that page-turning, can't-put-down book. I have to say, I have not been disappointed. I have found a few that have left me pondering, a little sad, happy, and disappointed the story was over. I am a work-at-home wife & mom of one adult daughter and one teenage daughter. I have lived in Maine my whole life and love all aspects of this beautiful state. Looking forward to what this group/challenge has to offer. Like many that have recently posted, this is my first ever reading challenge so bare with me through this learning phase. Happy reading!

message 1921: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 144 comments Hello! I'm Ashleigh, 27 in Australia. In 2019 I had a baby and for some reason, it has spurred me to read more books than I used to (making most of the little time I have haha). I've been pretty OCD for years about what books I read, what order I read them, etc, so I'm trying to use this challenge to help me branch out a little. I can't (as much as I try) just pick up a book and read it. I have a method, but I'm attempting to break it.

But baby steps haha. This year I plan to just fit the books I read to prompts. Maybe next year I'll actually be brave enough to CHOOSE a book that fits a prompt.

Last year I branched out into Audiobooks as well as paper back. Trying to still get into ebooks, which I just can't seem to enjoy as much, sadly.

message 1922: by Viktoria (new)

Viktoria Valkova | 33 comments Hi everyone! I'm Viktoria and this is the first time I'm doing a reading challenge. I'm very surprised I haven't heard of them before. I was an avid reader years ago, then had almost no time for reading and now I'm back again hahaha

Due to unforeseen circumstances I'll have a lot of free time this year, so I will be doing the PS Challenge and ATY.

I love planning, making spreadsheets and lists so this was a lot of fun! I have mapped out almost every prompt for PS, using when possible books form my to-read-list on GR. I want to read some classics, books from genres I hardly ever read and some nonfiction.

message 1923: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisaluna) | 5 comments Hello everyone! I'm Lisa and I'm from California! I tried doing a Popsugar reading challenge many, many years ago but sadly ended up finishing only a few prompts. I'm determined this year to make more progress than my last attempt.

My hope is that I can use this reading challenge to expand my reading horizons. I spent the last few years reading books for my classes and then being particularly picky about the books that I read in my free time so I stuck to my familiar genres (YA and romance). This year I want to try reading genres I don't normally read like mystery, horror, historical fiction, ect. I also want to read some literary classics that I've always wanted to read, but never got around to.

I've planned out most of the books for the PS prompts already, but I've still got a few prompts that I haven't found the right book for. I usually don't participate much in these types of groups, but I hope to be a little more active and talk with other books lovers!

message 1924: by Tejaswini (new)

Tejaswini K | 1 comments Hi!! I am Teja from India. This is my first ever reading challenge ever. I love to read all sorts of books. But sometimes am just lazy. So this year I plan to push myself to read more and learn more..and i hope this challenge helps me in achieving that goal.

message 1925: by Lee (new)

Lee Simpson (tazladyok) | 8 comments Hello everyone! I am Lee Ann and I live in Oklahoma. I found this challenge a couple of weeks ago and thought I would give it a try. I enjoy reading all kinds of books but recently I have been reading a lot of young adult and mystery books. I have read 6 books so far for this challenge so I guess I am off to a good start.

message 1926: by Celine (new)

Celine (cljt) | 15 comments Hello everyone, I'm Céline and I'm from France. I joined Goodreads last year but I always read a lot. I'm a big fan of thrillers and mystery books but I also read some YA, fantasy and SF.
This will be my first challenge ever and I look forward to discovering new books, authors and genres thanks to this.
As this is my 1st challenge, I've decided that some books will do for more than 1 prompt. I want to keep my reading time open to not-prompted books later this year.

message 1927: by Lorna (new)

Lorna (rogue_librarian) Hi everyone! I'm Lorna. I'm a school librarian from Oregon but I've lived overseas for ten years, currently in Cairo, Egypt. I had already committed to a couple of other 2020 reading challenges when a friend reminded me about Popsugar. I didn't think I'd have time, but then I got the idea of doing the challenge using only children's books, and picture books whenever possible. I'm excited to see if I can do it!

message 1928: by Darla (new)

Darla (darla65) | 1 comments Hi all! I'm Darla, a technical writer from Huntsville, AL. My husband and I are empty nesters and I have been spending much of my extra time catching up on the reading I didn't have time for during the last twenty-something years. I have been participating in Goodreads annual reading challenges for a while now, but have been having difficulty getting out of my usual Romance and Mystery/Suspense Genres. I love the specificity of these prompts because I will be pushed to try reads from genres I would never have normally tried on my own. Looking forward to getting ideas from everyone!

message 1929: by Kyle (new)

Kyle E. (kyle010620) Hi everyone! There are some major changes in my life this year, and I'm hoping that one of them is a return to more frequent reading. I'd love to jump right in and say I'm going to finish 50 books in the next 12 months (11, I guess...since I'm getting a late start), but I'm going to set a more manageable goal of 25, and maybe I'll surprise myself. I'm about to move to a brand new city (Washington D.C.) and really start a brand new life, so I figure now is the perfect time to pick up (or pick up again) a few hobbies. I look forward to joining you over the course of the year and getting to know some of you along the way. I can't wait to see what 2020 has waiting for me!

message 1930: by Kira (new)

Kira | 2 comments Hi! I'm Kira. I'm from Derbyshire, England and I'm hoping to use this challenge to read a more diverse range of books! Feel free to add me as a friend and we can keep in touch! I don't bite, I promise :)

message 1931: by Malorie (new)

Malorie (Firereader) (firereader2316) | 5 comments I'm Malorie from Pell City, Alabama. I'm a firefighter, mom, and wife. Reading is my escape and I love it so much I review a lot of books for authors, publishers, and Netgalley. I share my reviews here on GR, on my blog, and other sites. My favorite genres are historical mystery, mystery, medical mystery, historical, thrillers, biographies and some fantasy and paranormal. Feel free to add me as a friend here!

That's a great idea! I'm nuts because I'm doing 3 different prompted challenges in different groups and 2 regular just number of books finished. I just had major surgery and having a second one in July so I have a year of plenty of time to get it all done.

message 1933: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 1 comments Hello, I am a high school English teacher in Houston. I am currently striving to read 104 but hoping to do more than that. I am a Mimi to a five and three year old who live with me. It is a full house and super chaotic. Reading is my down time. Our favorite activity is to lay on the bed and "read" together in the evening. I am looking forward to finishing this challenge along with another one. I like just about any type of fiction but love mysteries and ya fantasy. I am not a fan of non-fiction but will read if necessary. Here's to a great year of reading!!

Judy Johnson Hinda wrote: "Hi! I’m hinda from Johannesburg South Africa and I’ve just discovered this challenge and have sent it to my bookclub and am very excited to tackle it. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to read 50 books ..."

The challenge is for you to interpret. Many of us tick off more than one prompt if a book fits more than one, especially early in the year. I've read 6 books and ticked off 11 prompts so far. Later in the year, if I'm sure I'll actually read 40 or 50 books I will read a second book that fits a prompt and maybe reach one prompt for each book. I should meet the challenge either way! In any case I will read some books I wouldn't have found otherwise. Judy Johnson, Nambe, New Mexico

message 1935: by Siddharth (new)

Siddharth Gupta (sidgsiddharth) Hey,

I am Siddharth. I am an avid reader, and have recently started a bookstagram account named Kitabi Karwan (@kitabikarwan) (https://www.instagram.com/kitabikarwan/)

The idea is not to review books or analyse them, but simply post thought about the book or what chain of thought the book took me on. I try to pair it up with aesthetically pleasing photographs of the book.

I also post these updates on Goodreads and on my blog at www.thestandingcoin.com

message 1936: by hunzberger (new)

hunzberger (hunzberger) | 3 comments Hello friends, I'm Anastasia and I'm happy to do the challenge this year in the hope to broaden my genre horizon. I live in Germany/Serbia/Slovenia depends on which week you ask me. Nice to meet ya'll and I hope we finish this challenge successfully

message 1937: by Kerry (last edited Feb 07, 2020 07:30PM) (new)

Kerry (rokrchik) | 8 comments Hello all! My name is Kerry and I'm in WA state. Been a member since the start of the year but lurking. Finally decided to do a intro. Really enjoying this Reading Challenge, first time since childhood I've done one. Discovered this at the right time! I've been reading this 30-something-odd book series which has helped tick several boxes and I have LOVED these books*. I do not want to get caught up to the most recent, but at the same time it will be nice to read some other stuff. I took a break in January to read "The Starless Sea" as Januarys book for Read It Forward book club and "The Tourist" for the Criminal Element book of the month.

I typically like mystery/thrillers/crime books - my favorite author is Karin Slaughter and I also really like Mark Edwards, Stuart MacBride, Michael Robotham, Mark Billingham. I love British authors. I also like Fantasy series, like the series I am reading and authors like Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, Jim Butcher, RA Salvatore.

I wanted to start the year reading one "classic" and one autobiography/biography per month, but so far I am 0 for 12. Happy to be here and meet everyone! :)

*Currently on book #26, Rise of the King in the Drizzt Do'Urden series by RA Salvatore.

message 1940: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 4 comments Hi all!
I'm Jodi from NJ - I am a single mom of two daughters and I have recently gotten back into reading for pleasure after an extended break (small kids really take up a lot of your time!) I have discovered audiobooks and it's been a game changer - I now listen to 2-3 books per week. I'm a little late starting this but I'm going to go look to see if any of the books I've already read will can fit into any of these prompts!

message 1941: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 4 comments Hello everyone!! I'm going to give the challenge a try this year! I am hoping to complete all the prompts, but I just had a baby in December so I may not be able to finish! Right now though I've been enjoying reading while I feed him so hopefully I can keep that up! I'm currently in a local book club as well so hopefully the books from there cross over to some of the prompts for this challenge!

message 1942: by Sallie (new)

Sallie Dunn | 26 comments Amanda. It seems I cam fit my book club reads early in the year, but it gets harder as the year wears on and more of the prompts are filled. Good luck and welcome!

message 1943: by Lari (new)

Lari (lari_) | 2 comments Hi! I'm Lari from the US. I've never done a reading challenge before, but I have so many books on my shelves that have gone unread for too long, so I'm hoping this challenge will help motivate me to read more of them! I mostly read fantasy, but I'm planning to try reading some more nonfiction this year to fill some of the prompts.

message 1944: by Dania (new)

Dania (frenchiestfry) | 4 comments Hi, I'm Dania from Brisbane. This will be my first year joining the Popsugar Reading Challenge and I just started with my first prompt today at the library! Pretty excited to tick off more books this year with all of you guys :)

Reese Sunshine (recoveryreese) | 0 comments Hello, I'm Teresa. This is my first time joining the Popsugar challenge and I'm really excited to branch out with my reading.

Kelly_Hunsaker_reads ... I don't think I introduced myself yet. I am Kelly. I live in CO. I am disabled and unable to drive so I am home all the time. I read a LOT. This is my first time doing the challenge, and I will try to read a different book for every prompt.

message 1947: by Katie_Potatie (new)

Katie_Potatie | 2 comments Hello Hello fellow book lovers. This group is such a good idea, I absolutely love prompts to help pick my next book! I am a 28 year old Slytherin from Canberra, Australia. I work too many hours, and read or practice my drawing skills in between. I am happily married with a step daughter, I own too many pets and love them all as if they were my own children. This includes three dogs and two cats. This is my first time doing the PopSugar Challenge and I am hoping to get all the prompts.
I love meeting new people, so please feel free to message, reply, chat, or add me as a friend anytime
Happy reading everyone!

message 1948: by Cr (last edited Feb 21, 2020 05:36AM) (new)

Cr | 11 comments Hello, I'm Crystal.
I am looking to get back into reading and to better my Japanese reading skills by reading as much as I can in Japanese. As a result, my reading is probably going to consist mostly of Japanese books I check out from the library.
I'm keeping my reading goal at 12 books for the year...for now. I didn't want to pressure myself too much so I kept my numerical goal low.
I wanted to take part in a reading challenge since they seem fun, and I figured that filling out as many of the prompts as I can will be a fun goal. I happened to find this reading challenge when I was searching, and decided to give it a shot!

message 1949: by Marilyn (new)

Marilyn | 1 comments Hi: I’m Marilyn, a retired school social worker from New Jersey, who followed the stereotype and retired in Florida. They’re right, the weather is better here but I miss everybody and everything.

I had breast cancer 25 years ago and it came back again a few months ago. Popsugar is a real blessing. I’m spending so much time either reading or planning my reading, I have no time left to worry about my health. It’s only Feb. 21, ‘20 and I’m on book #10 already for the challenge.

Good luck to all of you on this fun endeavor.

message 1950: by Sallie (new)

Sallie Dunn | 26 comments Glad to meet you Marilyn. I have a sister in Florida but I’m still in Pennsylvania. Take care of your self! Wishing you a return to good health and happy reading!
