daniela (daniela_nieblina) | 23 comments Hello!!

I'm a 30 yr old from Arizona, US. I'm a city girl with four dogs, loves feeling slightly chilly but lives in the desert because life is unfair.

My favorite genre is Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and even though I like my books to have a dash of romance, I'm not a huge fan of actual romance books.

I didn't finish this year's challenge, I'm nine books short. So I'm hoping joining this group helps me achieve the goal for 2020!

Sharlene (sharlenehuriwai) | 2 comments Kia ora everyone, I'm Sharlene from Gisborne, New Zealand. I've tried to read a few books using the PopSugar prompts in previous years, and just recently discovered the GR group. So I'm thinking about giving the challenge a go for 2020. Hopefully this will open up my world of reading as I'm mostly YA/NA fantasy, romance type reader. Cue the harp strings, I like fairytale endings. I'm not looking forward to the medical thriller (scary books), lol. So if you can recommend a graphic novel or a short story for this prompt, please lemme know!

Pam (psteinke) Hi All! I am Pam! 52yo Mom and Wife living in a tiny (pop of 742) town in SW North Dakota. Was born and raised in Los Angeles and spent 20 years in Las Vegas before moving here 10 years ago.

Have always been an avid reader but that picked up after moving to ND. I usually read around 300 books a year, this year was slow with a little over 200. Never heard of the PopSugar reading challenge prior to a couple of days ago, but have earmarked about 15 books to get me started. Can't wait. Good luck all and happy reading.

message 1805: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenninohio) | 2 comments Hello everyone, I'm Jenn. Originally from Ohio, USA and currently in Toronto, Canada area. Over the last few years, I've fallen out of the habit of reading, and every year I think - this will be the year! I manage to read a few books, but not as much as I hope.
This will be my first ever challenge. I'm looking forward to it and hope to get through 50 books in 2020!

message 1806: by L. (new)

L. | 1 comments Hello everyone, I'm Lucia from Italy. I'm 21 and I'm a med student. I've been reading less and less, but I hope that this challenge will push me to take to time to read, instead of looking at my phone as an entertainment.

message 1807: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (elliejacobson) Hi everyone! I'm excited to join this challenge for 2020, as a way to read outside my comfort zone. My name is Ellie and I live in Minnesota with my husband and our 2 sons. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!

message 1808: by Sam (new)

Sam (sneakysnam) | 5 comments I’m Sam and I’m hoping to step out of my usual genres by doing this challenge. I’ve been doing some of the prompts from the 2019 challenge but I haven’t been updating anywhere so I’m hoping this will encourage me to read more next year!

message 1809: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, I'm Hannah. I'm actually 13, but I've been dedicated to reading since I was in third grade. I am so excited to join the Popsugar Reading Challenge for 2020. This will be my first time trying it, so I am ecstatic to try this!

message 1810: by kerri (new)

kerri (ankerrigan) Howdy! I'm Kay and I live in Northeast Ohio. This will be my first year doing the POPSUGAR Challenge, but I've been reading for as long as I can remember. :3c I plan to (not quite) double my reading goal for 2020 from 52 books to 100 and I think the POPSUGAR Challenge will be a great help for deciding on books to read! My biggest reading obstacle is being overwhelmed by choice; the prompts will be great for narrowing my choices down. I'm looking forward to giving it the ole college try! (ง'̀-'́)ง

message 1811: by Katelyn (new)

Katelyn Greetings! My name is Katelyn and I live in Seattle, WA. I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember, but my TBR pile is getting out of control - there are so many good books out there. I would like to be able to read all 50, though I know that goal will be difficult but I am going to aim for as many as I can. I am looking forward to the book discussions and seeing what people choose to read for the prompts.

message 1812: by SR (last edited Dec 16, 2019 09:22PM) (new)

SR Hello All - I'm from Nebraska, and have been an avid reader all of my life. My mother said that when I was 2-3, I would come downstairs first thing in the morning, with an armful of books, and say, "Read to me." I retired a year ago, and am excited about participating in this challenge next year. Happy reading!

message 1813: by Luanna (new)

Luanna Lemon | 1 comments Hi I’m LuAnna from NYC but residing in New Jersey. So happy to have reclaimed my passion for reading. Time and exhaustion have always been a challenge but hoping this challenge will be the spark!

Robin H-R Holmes Richardson (acetax) | 147 comments Hello, all...

Robin here, from Central Oregon. This will be my first PopSugar challenge and it looks like fun! I read mostly historical fiction/mystery and history non-fiction, so most of my reads will come from those genres. Shootin' for 50!

Teresa Wilson (readinginthepnw) | 2 comments :)
Hello from the Pacific North West! This is my first popsugar challenge as well as my first year of book challenges! (not counting pizza hut as a kid) I am doing 3! Looking forward to a great year of reading!!

message 1816: by liza! (new)

liza! (lizabrown) | 2 comments Hi, I'm Liza! I live in the Northeast US and read too much for my own good, I love ghost stories, and I play the cello.

I want to do all 50 prompts in 2020, we'll see how that goes! :)

message 1817: by Danielle (new)

Danielle | 8 comments Hi everybody,

I'm Danielle! I live in Chicago, but I'm originally from Kansas City, Missouri.

I've always enjoyed reading but never felt like I had the time. One goal of mine, after I graduated from college, was to start reading regularly!

I have definitely taken up the habit and read a lot more now than I have in the past - I love it!

I'm super excited to do this challenge as it will challenge (ha) me to read a lot more and push me out of my comfort zone, as far as genre/subject!

Look forward to meeting fellow book lovers :)

message 1818: by inkyun (new)

inkyun | 6 comments Hola, todos. I'm Aslin, a 23 year old shorty with a love for books, art, video games, etc. I usually look for fantasy (YA fantasy as well) books to put on my TBR, so I thought I'd challenge myself again to reach for other things.

message 1819: by Barb (new)

Barb Dudziec | 24 comments Hi, I am Barbara and I live in Maryland, although I am originally from New York. I did the POP Sugar Challenge last year for the first time to force myself to read books in a wider variety of genres and it worked. I also really enjoyed the search for books to fit the categories so I am all in this year!

message 1820: by Cindy (new)

Cindy | 1 comments Hi everyone, my name is Cindy, I’m 28 and I live in Colorado. This is my first ever challenge and I’m excited to see how it goes. I read anything and everything and I love it. I usually use my book jar to find my next read so I am curious to see how this all turns out. I usually average about 100 books if not more a year so hopefully I can complete them all, we shall see 😁.

message 1821: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam_ornig) Hi, everyone! I'm Sam, I'm 28 years old, and I live in Wisconsin. I just signed up for GoodReads because I want to get back in the habit of reading regularly, so I set myself a new year's resolution and thought this site would help me stick with it. I especially love that I can do this challenge to help me stay accountable even more. I used to read several books at a time but stopped when school, work, and life got in the way. Now, I'm determined to prioritize reading again and am excited to kick it off with a fun challenge.

I enjoy reading autobiographies, biographies, and fiction the most, especially classic novels. Horror is one of my favorite genres, as is coming-of-age and bildungsroman.

I'm looking forward to keeping in touch and conversing with all of you throughout this next year!

tegan ✩ cozywtea (tegansarahmullen) | 1 comments Hello all! I’m Tegan from Perth, Australia. I stumbled across this group when browsing through groups on Goodreads. I’m a big book worm but had a baby six months ago so I haven’t had the chance to read as much as I like but I’m going to try get back into reading in 2020. My fave genres are Christian fiction and contemporary fiction.

message 1823: by Anshita (new)

Anshita (_book_freak) | 268 comments Hi everyone! I've done popsugar reading challenge in 2017 and 2018, but because of academic restraints, I couldn't participate in this year's challenge. I'm ready for 2020 reading challenge. I've chosen books from my syllabus and more author from my own country, this time. I'll try to finish reading books on time and not speed read them in December like the last time.
Happy reading, guys!

message 1824: by Julie (new)

Julie Carvella (julie_c_loves_books) | 7 comments I'm Julie and I'm a senior in college (woo!) This is my second year doing the challenge.
In 2019 I ended up not reading all 50 books for the challenge, but I read over 60 books in total, so I more than accomplished my ultimate goal of broadening my horizons and reading more.
This year, I'm viewing my list as a starting point - I'll try to read as many as possible that I've picked out, but if I find other books more interesting as the year goes on, I won't feel obligated to stick strictly to the list - especially if I find other books that also work for the categories.
Looking forward to another year of great reads!

message 1825: by Dee (last edited Dec 28, 2019 12:27AM) (new)

Dee | 5 comments Dee here - a US American who has lived in Bangalore, India since 2008. I have always loved reading, and a few years back, I started doing the Goodreads challenges because I realized I had slowed down in my reading habits. This is my first Popsugar challenge, and so far I love the list! I'm ready to dive in and see what worlds I visit and what friends I make here!

My preferred genre is almost everything under the umbrella of speculative fiction except horror. I love dystopia, science fiction, fantasy, steampunk, biopunk, cyberpunk, apocalyptic & post-apocalyptic fiction. But also will read well-written LGBTQIA fiction, thoughtful fiction, inspired & well-researched non-fiction, mystery, etc.

message 1826: by Becca (new)

Becca (grammaticallyso) | 4 comments Hi, all!

I’m Bec, and I’m 31, and have lived my entire life in the US. As a child and even until college, I read more than I did anything else in life. I graduated college with a BA in English in 2011, and during those 4 years, I did so much reading for classes it didn’t leave time for leisure reading.

Fast forward several years and I’m dealing with many chronic illnesses, leaving me housebound, and with ample time for more books. I can’t always read physical copies (can’t track the words), but I’ve gained a major appreciation for audiobooks over the past several years, and I’m so thrilled to be back in the habit of reading because I want to read, and not just for assignments.

So, that said, I’m excited to take the PopSugar 2020 Reading challenge with y’all! I’m trying to be more active at logging my books on goodreads, as well, so I think with the challenge and the motivation to keep up with it, it’s going to be such a great year! Can’t wait to connect with others and learn about what all you’re reading, too. :-)

message 1827: by Elke (new)

Elke Sisco | 33 comments Hello fellow readers,

My name is Elke, I am German and a long-time US resident.
Reading is my first love, but I have neglected this relationship because I spend my work day in front of a computer screen.

But I know that I feel better, and that my brain works better, when I read more, so thank you, Popsugar, and thank you Goodreads.

message 1836: by Harmke (new)

Harmke | 435 comments Hi all, I'm Harmke, from the Netherlands. 2020 will be the first year for me to do a challenge like Popsugar. I hope it will help me read different types of books from my TBR-list. Last year I just randomly picked a book from my TBR (if available in my local library).
My favorite genres are history, historical fiction and biography.
Happy reading in 2020 everyone!

message 1837: by Becca (new)

Becca (grammaticallyso) | 4 comments Hey all, my name’s Becca, and I’m so excited to meet y’all and enjoy this challenge together! I’m 31, wife to a perfect-for-me man, and mom to a copper-nose beagle and orange tabby cat. Many, if not most, of my earliest memories revolve around, books, so it was only fitting I got my degree in English and creative writing in college (graduated 2011).

From ages 3-18, it was rare to see me without my nose buried in a book, regardless of the situation. In college, I obviously read a lot, since I was working towards an English degree, but it left me little to no time for leisure reading, and I hate that it’s been going on to an extent for the past 7 years, as well, as I’ve been fighting multiple chronic illnesses that make it difficult to track words and make sense of a page of text. Audiobooks have been a Godsend, but I’m hoping to at least read some of the books for this challenge as ebooks or as hard copies.

Happy early new year to all! Cant wait to see how everyone does in 2020!

message 1838: by Cheryl A. (new)

Cheryl A. (teddi1961) Hello, y'all! I am Cheryl residing with my Cajun hubby and our three rescued furbabies in San Angelo, Texas. I was born in Ohio and was raised by my paternal grandparents from age 2 in the St. Louis, Missouri, area. I am "retired" (mostly health issues are involved with that decision) as is my spouse. We are trying to remodel our home but have run into serious funds issues due to unforeseen problems in the original building of said home.
I mainly read cozy mysteries but am open to other books of interesting genres like Literary Fiction, Christian Fiction, Historical Fiction, and Sweet & Clean Romance. Other genres like Chit-Lit, Romantic Comedy, and Romantic Suspense are subjectively chosen if violence, language, and sex are very limited. Non-fiction are usually not in my TBR list unless there are healthcare, wellness, or personal victories are part of the subject.
Thank you for allowing me to join this group. I will try to get back to my usual reading average of 200+ annual as long as health (particularly eyes) do not cause another 6 month delay like last year! I feel confident in being able to complete the 2020 Reading Challenge.

message 1839: by Evelina (new)

Evelina | 21 comments Hi, I'm Evelina from Sweden, 23 years old. Currently studying Health Care Administration and I'll hopefully have my bachelor's degree by summer 2021.

I have always loved to read, but these past years I haven't been able to read as much as before. Even though I'm studying I try to continue reading for fun. I'm a diverse reader and can read almost every genre of books but i particularly enjoy crime, historial fiction, YA and fantasy.

My main goal isn't to be able to check off every single prompt, just try and read as before and see how many prompts I can complete.

message 1840: by Megan (new)

I just recently found out about the challenge and since I've been on a reading binge lately after not reading much for the last few years I decided to give it a go. I want to get back to reading like I used to as I enjoy it and have missed it. I have been a genre rut lately and the challenge will hopefully get me to read some other genres. :)

Kayla Wietrzykowski | 4 comments Hello, my name’s Kayla and I’m a 20-year-old college student from Ohio. I decided to do the Popsugar reading challenge because one of my New Year’s resolutions is to do more of the things that bring me joy, which naturally includes reading as much as I possibly can. This past semester was my first semester of nursing school, and I realized that I stopped doing the things I love. We all know that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so here’s to a More joy-filled, balances new year!
