Therese Thompson (theresethompson) | 8 comments Hi! I'm Therese and I'm a readaholic. I did this challenge with some members of my book club, on the side, two years ago and enjoyed the diversity. A fb friend suggested joining this site, as I am on goodreads, and I am happy to join you all. I hail from the Land 'o Lincoln.

message 1602: by Aimee (new)

Aimee | 6 comments Hi, I'm Aimee from the state of Washington. I stumbled across this challenge on facebook, and it seemed like a good way to shake up my reading habits. I doubt I'll complete the challenge, but if I finish 20 books, I'll consider that a win!

message 1603: by Amy (new)

Amy | 19 comments Hi everybody! I'm Amy from Perth in Western Australia. This challenge was recommended by a friend a couple of years ago, but I didn't end up getting around to it. Last year I read 52 books and I would like to broaden my reading a bit so I thought this challenge would be a great place to start.

message 1604: by Vikkie (new)

Vikkie | 2 comments Hi, I'm vikkie and this will be my second attempt at the popsugar challenge. I tried to do it last year but didn't plan books and didn't end up completing it. So this year i thought I'd try and plan my books as much as possible and happened to find this group which has been a great help with some of the prompts. I am looking forward to reading books i probably wouldn't have chosen normal.

message 1605: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (meldoc) | 40 comments Hi there. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Although I added myself to this group when I first joined Goodreads I haven’t really checked in too often. Goodreads is such a great little invention and I have been using something called “Pick it for Me” in another group to help me choose books as well as get me used to how this great big GR community works.

Now I’m ready to dip my toe in the PopSugar community.

I completed 2017 PopSugar. and skipped 2018. I’m really looking forward to those weekly posts helping to keep me on track.

All that said...I still always feel like a big Newbie and am afraid of doing something wrong...if I do please gently assist me.

Looking forward to reading with all of you.

message 1606: by Laure (new)

Laure (goodreadscomlaure) | 4 comments Hi! I have done a few reading challenges on GR, but never attempted the Popsugar one. So, looking foward to fill in my spreadsheet and talking to people in threads. :)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1301 comments Welcome everyone! I have been here and I really enjoy it. People are very helpful, Melanie, so I think you are going to do fine.

Hi Laure! It's my first attempt as well. Hope to see your list soon.

message 1610: by Elleny (new)

Elleny Ramirez Happy New Year guys my name is Elleny I live in New York the reason why I’ve joined this challenge is to share different perspectives on different types of novels, and because I’ve been stuck in a rut reading the same types of genres and would like to expand my horizons. As well as challenge myself to read more in which I have not I had the tendency to just pick up a book these days start but never finish and then months later go back and finish it, now that my schedule been cleared up I want to actually motivate myself and take my time reading what better way then to start a challenge

message 1611: by Ilda (new)

Ilda | 1 comments Hi everyone. My name is Ilda and I live in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I did not read every introduction here, but I skimmed several pages and I appear to be the only one from Europe here ;-) This is exciting :-) I've never participated in a reading challenge, so this is a first for me. I often read several books of different genres at the same time, so I think this is THE challenge for me. I also don't have experience in tracking progress in a spreadsheet, but I'm looking forward to trying and learning about it.

message 1612: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 4 comments Hi, I'm Fiona, I live in London. This is my first attempt at reading challenge. Going to start by reading books I already have then try to fill the remaining gaps on the list with new books. Already finished one (I did start it last year though!)

message 1613: by Amber (new)

Amber | 9 comments Hello everybody. My name is Amber, I live in Virginia USA, I'm a newly minted 38 year old and mother to 4 kids.

This is my first year doing a reading challenge and I'm pretty excited about it. I like the idea of trying to find new and different things to read while also keeping track of what I've actually read in a year. Between working full time and having a family, I'm not sure I'll make it through the 40 books, but I'm gonna give it a good try.

It's good to meet you all!

message 1614: by Holly Van Reenen (new)

Holly Van Reenen (hollyvanreenen) | 2 comments Hi everyone! Holly here from Canada. Looking forward to expanding my horizons with this challenge, and finding some books I would have never considered before!

message 1615: by Karlita (new)

Karlita (karlita009) | 2 comments Hi everyone! I'm Karla from California. This is my first Popsugar challenge and I'm excited. I love reading but struggle to find time to fit it in. I did a classic reads challenge with a friend last year and that helped so I'm continuing that and adding this challenge to my list for this year. I'm hoping this helps me branch out to different genres.

message 1616: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 2377 comments Welcome all! I love the global reach this group is achieving, and I think it can lead to a real expansion of our reading choices! I for one am really looking forward to what books everyone chooses and introduces to all of us.

message 1617: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Stie (michellestie-buckles) | 12 comments Hi everyone! Michelle from Texas. Excited to learn of this challenge from another reader-friend. The categories look fun, and I think it will help jump start my reading for 2019! I am really looking forward to all the great recommendations from others participating in the challenge.

message 1618: by Susan (new)

Susan Keappock (skeappock) | 1 comments Hi, everyone! I'm Susan from NYC, and this is the first reading challenge I've ever tried. The categories look fun and interesting, and I hope that they will motivate me to stop spending hours and hours of scrolling through social media and start expanding my literary horizons!

message 1619: by Errlee (new)

Errlee | 132 comments Hi. I'm Errlee from Ontario, Canada. This will be my third year doing the Pop Sugar challenge - didn't make it the first year, but managed to finish 2018 by the skin of my teeth! Looking forward to another year and decided this year I would try to participate in the community more rather than lurking :)

I find that doing these challenges has really helped me read more and differently, and resist the constant lure of Netflix! Doing a few other challenges along with this one and hoping to get even more reading done this year.

message 1620: by Heather (new)

Heather | 5 comments Hey all! I'm Heather and from Oklahoma. I'm looking forward to being exposed to more authors and trying out types of literature that I don't usually.

I love fantasy, young adult, dystopian, historical fiction, and feminist theory.

message 1621: by Colette (new)

Colette | 4 comments I’m Colette from Pennsylvania. I love to read but do not get a lot of time to do so! I’m gonna give it another go this year. I didn’t complete the challenge last year. I did read a ton more than usual and from different genres/authors.

message 1622: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin Fleming (cakeupset) | 1 comments Hey, I'm Caitlin from Texas. I have 3 kids and work full time in insurance. I used to read all the time, so I'm hoping this helps me get back to it! I haven't done a book challenge before, so I'm looking forward to it. I like most genres, but stick with YA, Sci-Fi, and fiction, so I'm using this to expand my horizons!

message 1623: by Katie (new)

Katie Hi everyone! My name is Katie and I'm so excited to have found this group! I'm a middle school English teacher and a complete book addict. I live in Pittsburgh and am a Steelers fan, though currently, I'm in mourning because we are not in the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
I'm really excited about this challenge because it will definitely stretch me to read books that I otherwise wouldn't have. I'm planning on starting my first book for the challenge tonight!

message 1624: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Lopez Hi!
My name is Sandy and I am from Chicago. I wanted to challenge myself this year, I have been stuck in a reading rut.

My name is Christine, I live in the sunshine state with my husband, five kids (ages 8-16), and a constantly evolving menagerie of fur babies, which currently includes one dog, one rabbit, and five cats. message 1626: by Becky (new)

Becky Martin (beckymartin22) | 1 comments Hello everyone! I’m Becky from Alabama❤️. I love to read & am so excited about participating in the 2019 PopSugar Reading Challenge!! Besides the PopSugar Challenge, I plan on making time for at least 1 self help/character building/spiritual book a month. I’m looking forward to reading books that I that I would not ordinarily read & getting to see others progress throughout the year.

message 1627: by Udita (new)

Udita | 1 comments Hi everyone! My is Udita and I’m from India. I’m a doctor by profession and a bookaholic by choice, I love to reading but over last few years I haven’t had much time to read for pleasure and that is something I wish to change this year. I may not be able to finish all the prompts for this challenge but I will be more than happy with whatever I can finish.
And going through the discussion post And reading all the encouraging comments by others is really helpful.

This is going to be fun. Happy reading people !

message 1628: by Rukky (last edited Jan 06, 2019 09:39AM) (new)

message 1629: by Lori (new)

Lori | 5 comments Hi Everyone, I’m Lori, a creative art facilitator at a children’s museum near Seattle Wa. I’m excited to start this challenge. I have never done a reading challenge before, but I think it sounds super fun! I use to be an avid reader, but a busy, hectic life and three kids prevented that from happening much. I think this challenge is just what I need to get back to it!

message 1630: by Amanda (AJ) (new)

Amanda (AJ) Johnson (ajladybug) | 2 comments Hey ya’ll! I’m AJ and I live in western North Carolina. This is my reading challenge. I’m pretty excited about it and looking forward to branching out into other genres. I used to read incessantly, but find that I’m not reading much at all in the last few years. I’ve set a high goal for myself this year so it really feels like a challenge. I’m trying to move away from constant social media and being on my phone and getting my nose back in a book (or 50)!

message 1631: by [deleted user] (new)

My name is Michaele; I live in Northern California. I've been participating in the PopSugar challenge since 2016, though for the past two years I've been chopping and channeling it enough to call it the Anne Elk reading challenge. (Because it is "mine and belongs to me").

I'm with you, Amanda -- enough heedless scrolling through social media. Back to whole stories again!

As to being on my phone -- that's where I do a lot of my book-reading. Old-lady eyes, you know. Even when I read paper books i have to photograph the pages so I can zoom the text.

message 1632: by Casey (new)

Casey maddock (theshelvesofc) Hello everyone, My name is Casey. I am from Australia and I am so excited to start the Popsugar reading challenge. I look forward to start finding books and looking at all of your suggestions.

message 1635: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (stensten) | 14 comments Hi, my name is Kristen, I'm a stay at home mom living in Central NY. I've never done a reading challenge before; I read a lot but I tend to stick to the same few genres so I'd like to try and stretch myself a little. I found this challenge after it was posted on another social media site (Ravelry, hey to all my fellow knitters and crocheters!).

message 1636: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello! I'm Kristina and I live in British Columbia, Canada. I was an avid reader in my pre-university days, but it's been a few years since I've graduated and I still haven't gotten fully back into it. I've never done a reading challenge before and am stoked to start this one...I just finished my first book actually! :)

message 1637: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (shalynrut) | 8 comments Hi! I'm Sharon and I'm from Pennsylvania. I heard of the reading challenge last year, but didn't attempt it. I moved recently, and I'm finally realizing how many books I actually own (they are HEAVY!) I'm hoping to see how many of the prompts I can complete from my collection.

message 1639: by Lorela (new)

Lorela Korriku | 1 comments Hello, I'm Lorela and I'm from Albania. This is the first reading challenge I am partecipating. I haven't found much time in the 2018 to read as much as I wished so I'm hoping to improve it this year.

Jennifer (jenibookworm) (jenibookworm) My name is Jen and I'm doing this challenge this year...only just found your group but I already did three of the prompts. I'm excited to find you all. I could use the help with finding books for some of the prompts.

message 1645: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 56 comments Hi, my name is Lisa. I’m from northern Kentucky and work full time at a university not far from my home as well as being a mother of 3. This is my first year doing the Popsugar Reading Challenge. My hobbies, aside from reading are anything crafty like sewing, needlework etc. My favorite genre is historical fiction, but I read at least a little in everything.

message 1646: by Donna (new)

Donna (whatdonnareads) Hi, I'm Donna from Northern VA. I am a life-long reader, who is diving back into serious reading after getting away from it the last few years due to the busy-ness of life. I just discovered the Pop Sugar Challenge (and this group) near the end of December. So this is my first year doing the challenge and I'm loving the diverse titles the prompts are forcing me to choose. Can't wait to see what amazing stories and characters I find between the pages this year!

message 1647: by Jasmine (last edited Jan 08, 2019 08:51AM) (new)

Jasmine Banks (jasxnicole) | 5 comments Hi, I'm Jasmine. I stumbled upon this challenge around the middle last year trying to get back into old reading habits. I wasn't able to do as much as I wanted on my first attempt with everything else going on around me, so hopefully this year will be better.

Excited to see how much I actually get done and how far my reading taste expands!

message 1648: by Panda (new)

Panda McAllister (silvereyedpanda) | 10 comments Hi, I'm Janda. I have always loved reading and have tracked what I've read previous to actually joining Goodreads. I will read just about anything. I just love the adventure in my own comfort.

I found this list because I wanted to spice up my Goodreads reading challenge for this year. I have only set myself a goal to read 35 books, but I would love to be able to get through the full 40 on this list. I don't think I'm going to tackle the advanced list this year.

I joined this group because there are so many great recommendations for categories on the list that I was having trouble thinking of books for. I look forward to discussion and Happy Reading, everybody!!

message 1649: by Darlene (new)
