Jennifer | 1 comments Hello 👋,
I'm Jennifer. I live in Vermont. I haven't prioritized reading in several years and want to jump back in📚.
I have modified the challenge for 2019 by choosing only women and/or marginalized or minority authors. There are a few books selections that stretch the prompt a bit to accomplish this specific goal. We'll see how it goes!

El | 196 comments I've never introduced myself here though I've posted in the weekly check-ins and individual threads. I'm El and I joined goodreads in March after finding the 2018 Popsugar Challenge in February. I've always loved reading and this challenge and this group helped me find some good books I might not have read otherwise.

Though I have participated in many reading challenges, never this one! But for 2019 I am taking the plunge! This will encourage me to post more reviews on a more timely basis...I hope! :) I just need more hours in the day! Every day! I am over 60 years of age and just had bilateral knee joint replacement over a year ago so much of my "spare time" outside of work is spent exercising, but I still work hard to fit in as much reading as possible. I also LOVE book clubs/book groups/book discussions! Hearing others' reactions to what they've read, especially if I have also read that same book, is a beautiful part of the reading experience for me! :)

Shaye Klotz (shayemanning) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Shaye - live in Massachusetts. I'm a working mom to an 18 month old boy. For the last several years, I'd tried to get in to reading and I just...couldn't. Something clicked within the last year and I was able to nearly (still hoping to!) double my 2018 reading goal of 12 books. Because of my success with last year's goal, I'm going to give the Popsugar challenge a shot! I'm hoping to be active in this group...it's a little overwhelming right now, but hopefully I get the idea of it :)

message 1355: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lange | 2 comments Hello! I am Amanda and I live in eastern NC. I have always been an avid reader of many genres, but since developing a chronic illness I am finding myself unable to dabble in my usual hobbies other than reading. SO, I am very excited about this challenge since it will help me stay focused and busy while also trying new books I might not normally consider. Heading over to the print-outs and spreadsheets now!!!

Sarah Smith | 3 comments Hi there! My name is Sarah and I am from Seattle, Washington! I just found out about the PopSugar reading challenge and created this account to partake in it! My favorite genres are fiction and non-fiction, teen romance, poetry, romance (by Nicholas Sparks), fantasy (major LOTR fan!!), and classics. My goal this year is to increase my vocabulary by reading!

message 1359: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (recipebookworm) | 2 comments Hi I’m Kirsten from Australia. This is my first challenge. I’m looking forward to trying some new genres and reading some different books to what I’d normally read. I’m also trying to use the list to get through my TBR list. I’ve been enjoying reading all your posts and getting new ideas!

message 1360: by Pam (new)

Pam | 39 comments Hi! I am Pam from Minnesota! I love to read books from all genres. I use to read more than I do now. I want to use this challenge to get back into reading more. This is the first time doing this challenge. I look forward to being exposed to books that I normally would not and having fun reading!

Cherie Jones | 8 comments Hi, I’m Cherie. I am new to this challenge, 2019 being my first year. This sounds like it will be really fun. I love to read and I am looking to expand my reading list and try some new genres.

Emily Hello everyone, I'm Emily. I am joining to gear up for the 2019 challenge! I focused on reading in 2018 with a different challenge. I started looking for my next one for 2019 and discovered this group.

I look forward to reading with all of you!

message 1364: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (tattooed_bookworm) | 23 comments Hi everyone! I’m Amanda and I’m originally from Northern Kentucky, but moved to Sarasota, FL about 4 years ago. I used to read around 35-40 books a year but over the past 3-4 years, I’ve struggled to even get 8-10 read in a year. I’m currently the General Manager for 2 Club Pilates studios and it keeps me pretty busy, so much so that I’m exhausted by the time I get home (and the recent time change doesn’t help either!)

Recently, for some reason, I’ve been on a dystopian, post-apocalyptic genre kick (reading 3 in a row). I’m a huge fan of Harlan Coben books. I will read most any genre or author at least once. If I start a book, I have to finish it. And I can’t get rid of a book before reading it... which means I have multiple books from high school that I haven’t read yet and will continue to hold on to until I have.

My collection of books is slowing diminishing because it’s probably been 3 years since I’ve bought a new book (sad, I know).

I found out about this group about an hour ago so I’m thrilled to join in on the fun! I’m always looking to get recommendations and hear reviews of books to read!

message 1365: by Maran (last edited Nov 20, 2018 03:23PM) (new)

Maran | 6 comments Hey everyone, I'm Maran. I'm from Nijmegen (Netherlands), where I'm a Cognitive Neuroscience masterstudent. I'm new to this challenge, but I'm gonna try my best! I've only started to read again recently, which I couldn't do (or at least didn't enjoy) due to my depression for a couple of years (and all my energy was spend on reading pretty dense scientific articles). I'm open to just about every genre of books, although I do really like fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and young-adult books.

What else is there to say? Nothing, except that I'm excited to do this and that I look forward to reading with you all!

message 1366: by Meg (new)

Meg (makeli2) | 34 comments Hello! I'm Meg from California. I love book challenges and have finally decided that it was time to give this one a go! I'll work on my list over the next weeks. Will see if I can cover all 40...or 50.

P.S. Love that other members have posted suggestions! I have a few titles already picked out for my list but can use the help with others.

message 1367: by Katie (new)

Katie | 2 comments Hello everyone, my name is katie and I currently live in Wesr Yorkshire in England. I have many books which I keep meaning to read but haven’t got round to yet. Hoping to take part in the 2019 challenge to inspire me to read all my books and find some new ones.
Excited to share my reading and share in others

message 1368: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolestout) | 4 comments Hello everyone! My name is Nicole from Utah and I’m excited to join in the Popsugar reading challenge. I’ve read 117 books so far this 2018 year, and am always looking for great suggestions for books to read. Looking forward to this challenge.

message 1369: by Angela (new)

Angela (angie_pants) Hi everyone! I'm Angela from Austin, Texas. I did the Popsugar Reading Challenge in 2015 and I decided to give it a try again in 2019. I average about 40 books a year, but I've been in a bit of a slump this year and I'm hoping this challenge is the kick-in-the-butt I need!
I'm excited to go through this challenge with ya'll!

message 1370: by tea_for_two (new)

tea_for_two | 21 comments Hi! I'm Cait, 33 and from Houston, TX. Like a lot of y'all, I'm hoping this challenge will help me diversify my reading. I felt like I was in a reading rut even before I went to grad school and stopped reading for fun almost completely.

I've been making lists of books for each prompt and I'm excited to start. A little too excited, actually. I'm going on vacation for the last two weeks of December (including two 12+ hour plane flights), and I've spent the last week creating a list of great books I'm not allowed to read until the day *after* I get back.

message 1371: by Beth (new)

Beth Hi! 2019 will be my first challenge. I’m excited for it and appreciate any tips I can get to succeed! Thanks! 🤗

message 1372: by Shanna (new)

Shanna May | 3 comments Hi everyone, my name is Shanna. I am a teacher from Houston, Texas. This is actually my second year completing the challenge (I did 2017), but my forst year joining the group.

I hope to do the 50 books starting in 2019 but want to warm -up by working on the challenge books early (obviously not to count towards my totals but just because of circumstances I hardly read anything this year).

Anyway I'm already working on list and will try to post soon :)

message 1373: by Lina Sjöblom (new)

Lina Sjöblom | 1 comments Hi!

I'm Lina, a librarian from Sweden. I like having some kind of structure to what im reading, so a reading challenge sounded great! This is my first time joining. I have to read a lot for work (children's lit and YA), so i might not be able to finish, but it'll be a goal, at least!

Kay*FindMeInThePages* (kayfindmeinthepages) | 9 comments Hello, I’m Kay. Excited to join the 2019 challenge. This is my first big challenge, so I’m anxious to see how it goes!

message 1375: by Abigail (new)

Abigail the Wookiee (thecuberican) Hi friends! I'm Abigail. I'm a medical assistant born & raised in Charlotte, NC. This is my first multi-genre reading challenge. I'm an enneagram type-1, so here I am a month and a half in advance, planning which books I'll read for each prompt. Haha!

message 1376: by Melanie (new)

Melanie | 2 comments Hi everyone!

I saw a post on PopSugar for a reading challenge and thought this was the perfect way to keep me accountable to myself! Since starting to work full time in a busy career a few years back, I’ve fallen out of the habit of reading but I love getting lost in new stories.

Melanie

message 1377: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelly72401) | 8 comments Hi everyone! My name is Kelly, I'm 30 years and I am tackling the 2019 list this year! I have been in this group for a few years but I have recently gotten very much back into reading so I think this will be super fun! I very much appreciate the suggestions for some of these prompts and will hope to add a few as well.

message 1378: by Farica (new)

Farica Hi everyone! My name is Farica. For years, I say that I'm going to do the reading challenge and every year, I forget about it after January comes and goes. But this year will be different! I had no idea there was an entire group reading together! This is the perfect way to keep me on track. I'm excited about the year ahead, and I'm already jotting down lots of good book ideas.

message 1379: by Felicia (new)

Felicia (fishielpk) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Felicia from Idaho. I just joined, but I'm really excited for this reading challenge. I used to read a lot as a kid but then I found it harder and harder to focus from 16 onward. Turns out I have ADHD, but now at 28 I finally have the ability to focus again and I've really gotten back into reading. I've missed it so much, and while I certainly haven't gotten back to finishing two or three books a week, I'm still technically devouring books as I'm able! So I don't know if I can finish every single prompt, but I'll definitely do my best.

message 1380: by Carlee (new)

Carlee Wormington | 2 comments HELLO! My name is Carlee, I am from Oregon. I've been reading for as long as I can remember and I'm so excited about this reading challenge. I've only done a couple smaller reading challenges before so I hope it goes well!

message 1381: by Alyson (new)

Alyson | 1 comments Hi, I am Aly and from California. I have never done a book challenge list or group, so this is all new to me. Hopefully I will be able to keep up on the reading, haha.

message 1383: by Soph ♡ (new)

Soph ♡ | 130 comments Not sure if I have ever introduced myself in this group!

I'm Soph, I live in Staffordshire in the UK. I have been a bookworm from the moment I could read, and a member of Goodreads since around 2012. I only discovered the Popsugar Challenge this year, and it's only made me fall in love with reading even more. I work full time as a nurse, so reading is my way of winding down and relaxing. I am so glad that a website like this exists, as I love to share my love for books and see what everyone else is reading. I am close to finishing the 2018 reading challenge, and so looking forward to 2019!

message 1384: by Sarah. B (new)

message 1385: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nbaker) | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm Nancy and I am here to prep for the Popsugar 2019 challenge. Did a few challenges the past couple years and thought I would try a different one this year. Judging from the list it will be an interesting year.

message 1386: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 74 comments Hi!!! I'm Charlotte from Monroe, WA (about an hour outside of Seattle). I work in tech and my New Year's Resolution last year was to find work life balance and I found it by renewing my love of books. I already hit my goal for this year of reading 100 books and I found a couple of other groups that helped me hit some other challenges. In one of my groups I heard them talk about the Popsugar challenged, I looked it up, it looked like fun and now here I am!!! Looking forward to planning and getting started!!

message 1387: by Anita (new)

Anita (adavelos) | 4 comments Hi all! I'm Anita from La Crosse, WI. As the mother of 3 teenagers, I am trying to carve out time for me. I have always loved to read but have neglected it for too many years now. So, joining this group is my motivation to do something for myself that I really love. Looking forward to selecting books and exploring some new genres and authors.

message 1388: by Caitlyn (last edited Nov 28, 2018 08:55PM) (new)

Caitlyn Girvin | 2 comments Hello! My name is Caitlyn! I'm from Phoenix and I found out about this challenge this year but I was already in the midst of another challenge of sorts so I decided to wait until 2019 to give it a try! I have well over 100 books in a ton of different genres in a chest waiting to be read and this challenge seemed like a good way to read through some of the ones I like wouldn't have read otherwise. My goal is to use as many books that I already own as possible (35/50 isn't bad!) and see if the others come in the BotM boxes. I've already started researching the ones I can't fit to prompts though so I'm not sure I'll be waiting for BotM... I'm honestly so excited to get started and 2019 is still a month away!

I'm mainly into fantasy, suspense/thrillers, sci-fi, and historical fiction but I will honestly read anything.

message 1389: by Diana (new)

Diana | 1 comments Hello all! My name is Diana and I'm South African.
I decided to do this challenge because I haven't done much reading the last 2 years or so and I have a "To Read" list that may just outlive me : )

message 1390: by NicoleB (new)

NicoleB | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm Nicole and I live in Northern Ontario. I have begun to develop a love for books in the past year or so and thought this challenge would be a great way to broaden my horizons and step out of my genera comfort zone. I typically read mystery, thrillers and legal dramas. I am super excited to start this challenge and am having a hard time waiting until January!

message 1391: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Kraus (sarahk2013) Hi! I'm Sarah from Northern Alberta, Canada. I used to read books all the time but it has been pushed to the side for a bit now. I'm starting to get back into it and I think this challenge is what I need to get motivated! :)
I have my list of books all drawn up and I'm ready for January!

message 1392: by Summer (new)

message 1394: by Selena (new)

Selena Fowler (anelesrelwof) | 3 comments Hello! I'm Selena, from Florida. I had tried the PopSugar Reading Challenge last year (2018) but didn't complete it. I made a spread in my Bullet Journal and everything for it! Haha. It did encourage me to read more than I have been lately (as a college student and stay at home Mom, I'm always busy in some way), as well as challenging me to step outside of my usual genres (horror...always horror, lol).

I'm looking forward to the new year's challenge, and am already starting to get ideas for books for each prompt. :D
