Glad you made it Lis! :D Just a heads up, most of the discussion happens in weekly check-ins or monthly reads sections of the forums! :)

Kirsten Bett (kirstenbett) Hi, I just saw a post in the readers coffeehouse group on Facebook mentioning they got their ideas for new books from here. As I am in a reading frenzy I thought I'd join. I am Kirsten and live in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands but also a kiwi having lived in NZ from 1962-1971, 1986 and 2007 - 2017. My current fav book is Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine!

Hi Kirsten,
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is my 2018 favorite! Such a great one, and I loved the vocabulary in it.

Olivia (oliviah_) | 12 comments Hi everyone! I've been on GR a while now and a member of other groups but I found this one while looking for tips on the 2018 challenge. So I'm happy to join and participate.

I've read a lot of great books this year but my favorites so far are
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine
and
Almost Famous Women: Stories
and
Zeroville

Jamnetty (jamnydiazpineda) | 1 comments Hi 👋🏼I can’t believe it took me so long to discover this challenge. I was going to wait for the 2019 challenge, but I figured I would just join in now. My name is Jamnetty and I am a first time mom. I love reading and writing, of course. I am an INFJ 🙌🏻 and I love the goodreads community. I enjoy way too many genres and can’t really point one out. Lol. Can’t wait to join in the fun!

message 1308: by Sasha (new)

Sasha (sashapc) | 4 comments Hi all, I'm Sasha. I am originally from NY, but currently residing in IN for graduate studies. I am new to the Popsugar Reading Challenge (found out/started this summer) so I still have a long ways to go. I found this group while looking for some suggestions/ideas for some of this years prompts. I have never really followed along a challenge like this so I am looking forward to it.

message 1309: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Hager (cheryl_is_reading) | 24 comments Hello, I'm Cheryl. I may have done this several years ago the first time I did the Popsugar Reading Challenge. I was really overwhelmed toward the end of the year and almost gave up. I've been doing the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge since. I read over 100 books a year, but I think I wanted fewer assigned tasks. I am signing up now to give next year's list a try.

message 1310: by Melody (new)

Melody (melodywicket) | 25 comments Hi all, my name is Melody. I've set out to complete several challenges this year and only recently stumbled upon the Popsugar one. Even though I still have a handful of prompts to get through for other challenges, I Very Ambitiously decided to add the Popsugar one to my 2018 reading goals! Thankfully many of the books I've already read fit the PS prompts, but wish me luck nonetheless!

message 1312: by Michelle (new)

Michelle H | 48 comments Hi everyone! My name is Michelle. I'm a full-time student, part-time waitress, mom of 4, and I live in New England. I've never finished a reading challenge, but fingers crossed for this year! I might not complete the challenge, but if it inspires me to read even just one book I otherwise wouldn't have read, I'll consider it a win :) However, I'm going crazy planning and getting ambitious, like always!

message 1313: by Liz (new)

Liz | 32 comments Hi, I'm Liz and I live in the UK. I'm planning to have a go at the challenge next year as it looks like good fun from reading through previous years' prompts. I have a huge bookshelf (*cough* bookcase *cough*) of books to be read so I'm hoping many of them will fit into the 2019 prompts and give me some added motivation to get through them :-D

message 1314: by Claire (new)

Claire | 45 comments Hi everyone, I am Claire and I am from California. Yay for joining late to the party! I have been doing the challenge all year, but figured it would be way more fun to have people to talk to while I finish. 14 more books, I think I can do it! I have been reading a lot more shorter books to try to get this in. It will be the first challenge I can say I have completed!

message 1315: by Allison (new)

Allison (allycat89) | 4 comments Hi all! I'm Allison and I'm from Ohio. I'm super excited for next year's challenge to start! I discovered Popsugar last January. A couple friends and I decided to work through the 2017 challenge, but not with a time limit. I tend to read faster than the others, so I'm looking forward to having another challenge going too. I want to read through PBS's Great American Read list, so I'm going to fit as many of those into the Popsugar list as I can.

message 1316: by Ewa (new)

Ewa Langer | 2 comments Hello Everyone !
I’m a self proclaimed book nerd - my husband has said he’s said things to me and I haven’t even registered when I’m buried in a book :D I love reading and a friend introduced me to the PopSugar Reading Challenge in 2018. Two weeks ago I finished my challenge and am on my 58th book of the year !

I live in British Columbia, Canada, and recently stepped away from my career as a pharmacist to be a stay at home and look after my two boys - aged 5 and 9.
I have one more year before my youngest is in school full time and I want to enjoy them while they are cute and young :) In addition to being , quitting work has allowed me to pick up one of my favourite hobbies that sadly took a backseat in my working mommy years .

I love reading and am always looking for a new place to travel to, new characters to become friends with or cheer for a hero .

In addition , I love hiking , biking, skiing , exploring the great outdoors , baking, and spending time with my 3 dogs, 2 degus, hamster and fish . It’s a full house in our house- but I wouldn’t trade the crazy, chaotic, fun and happy atmosphere for anything :D

message 1317: by Kylie (new)

Kylie (webgecko) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Kylie from Pennsylvania. This is something I've been meaning to do but never got around to, mostly because I wasn't logging my reading at the beginning of 2018, but now that I'm doing logs for several Facebook competitive-reading groups, it shouldn't be too much trouble to work on this one at the same time, so I'm ready to get started in 2019!

message 1318: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey | 94 comments Hi! I'm Kelsey from Lacey, WA. Someone posted about this challenge in a Facebook book club I'm in and it sounds like so much fun. I'm a giant book nerd. I specifically enjoy fantasy, YA, and romance but I'll give just about anything a try.

Other than reading I like hiking and photography and spending time with my boyfriend and our two dogs.

Looking forward to getting started in 2019!

message 1319: by Felicity (new)

Felicity | 1 comments Hi I'm Felicity,
I also stumbled across this in a Facebook book group and am super excited to join in. I live in Outback Australia and work at a dinosaur museum. I can't wait to start ticking books off the list and talking to everyone here.

message 1320: by Michele (new)

Michele Avenoso | 13 comments Hi! I'm Michele from NYC. I'm a mom/hairstylist. Just discovered this group from popsugars Facebook page. I'm excited to read different books then I normally would, I feel like I've been stuck in a rut. If I love a book I will sacrifice sleep to finish it! Lol

message 1321: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 2 comments Hello everyone. I am Kimberly and I live in SW Missouri. I love to read, of course. I work from home for the University of Missouri and thought I would have more time to read since I don't have to wake up and go to school every morning. I am a teacher of English Language, Literature and ESL. Many of the people I work with and am friends with are from other countries and this gives me a different perspective on many things I read. I love reading books by international authors and learning about other cultures. As a linguist, I love learning new words. I am excited to try this challenge and am trying to enlist friends. Happy Reading!

message 1322: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 190 comments Hi everyone! I'm Jenny from Iowa. I'm a married mother of four. (Alison-21, Noah & Logan--20, Tessa--15) I work full time as a dietary aide at a senior living facility, a job I absolutely love! Reading is my number one hobby, followed by arts & crafts, movies, hiking, and travel. I am a cat lover, my baby is Ashley and she's 3 years old.

Reading is my passion! I have seen this challenge around a few times, but I've always got so many of my own challenges going on, I haven't participated. But this is the year to try it I think! So excited!

message 1323: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (bia_cratos) | 2 comments Hi all! I'm completely new to the pop sugar challenge. I'm a little overwhelmed by some of the categories, but excited to tackle them as well. I'm a 41 yr old working mother of 3 and I live in southeast Michigan. I love reading just about all genres! I'm excited to be a part of this group and look forward to participating in discussion and getting recommendations on all things book related!

message 1324: by Vivian (new)

Vivian Fonger (vivian_fonger) | 32 comments Hi, my name is Vivian and I live in Atlanta, GA. I love reading any books that are under 500 pages long. I want to join this group so I can participate in 2019's challenge :)

message 1325: by Linda (new)

Linda Varick-cooper | 20 comments Linda from Milwaukee. I like traveling, hiking, camping, and of course reading! I did the challenge last year and completed it in May. I think I'll slow down a bit this year and try to make it last longer!

message 1326: by Karen (new)

Karen | 2 comments Hi, I am Karen from Minneapolis, Minnesota and I have read 28 books so far this year. I ran across the Pop Sugar challenge and it sounds perfect for me because I like to read about a wide range of topics and I can amp up the number of books I read next year. I’m stuck at about half-way through Hamilton. Has anyone read the whole book? I wonder if I should pick it up again and finish it.

message 1327: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Bek Olesen | 7 comments Hi all!
I'm Sarah from Copenhagen, Denmark. I've been in a reading slump for a very long time, not being able to fokus on reading. This year I've read more books than I have In years and I love it. I first stumbled upon the popsugar reading challenge earlier this year and was intrigued by it. Therfore, I've decided to join in on the 2019 challenge and I can't wait.

Caroline Petkus (cazzzpet) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Caroline and I live in the UK. I'm currently training to become a teaching assistant. Joining this group now ready for next year's challenge. Looking forward to challenging myself with books I wouldn't normally pick... Especially as I seem to be struggling this year with my goodreads challenge.

message 1330: by Mauri (new)

Mauri Fernandes | 1 comments Hi I’m Mauri and I live in Oklahoma, I’m 20 years old and I’m currently going to school to become a elementary school teacher. I’m really excited to join this group, I have a lot of books of mine that I haven’t read yet that have just been sitting on my shelf so I feel like this group with interesting challenges like this will help me read through them. Thank you for letting me join and I look forward to all our discussions in the future!

message 1331: by Yuval (new)

Yuval (yuvalmonster) | 22 comments Hey I'm pretty new here, I'm Yuval, 20yo. I want to take the 2019 challenge and it will be my first time doing the POPSUGAR challenge so I really hope to check as many boxes as I can, I want to read so much more this upcoming year and this challenge seems like a great way to do it.

message 1332: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Wick (imapiecemaker) | 27 comments Hello! I am Nancy from St Paul, Minnesota. I love the idea of this reading challenge and am looking forward to it. I spent hours yesterday researching and mapping out my list. What fun!

message 1333: by Sara (new)

Sara Welcome to all the new members! There are lots of discussion threads in the group where you can join in!

If you really want to engage with your fellow readers I suggest you start posting in the individual discussion threads for the 2019 prompts. Also, we have a weekly check-in thread every Thursday where you can post what you've been reading over the last week!

Again, welcome to the group!

message 1334: by Nathalia K. (new)

Nathalia K. | 9 comments Hi I am from Rio de Janeiro currently living in Pennsylvania. I discovered the reading challenge and this group today! I am so happy, I have been trying to read more books because when I was 12/13 I used to read a book in one day and now with 22 (almost 23)it takes me forever because I get distracted with social media . English is not my first language too so reading helps me to learn the language. I’ll just finish two books I’m reading now and then start the challenge of 2019. I hope being part of this group helps me to read all the books in the challenge.

message 1335: by Maja (new)

Maja - BibliophiliaDK ✨ (bibliophiliadk) | 35 comments Hi everyone, my name is Maja and I a from Denmark. This will be my 3rd time doing the Popsugar Reading Challenge, so I am not new to this, but you can always use great suggestions and recommendations for this thing! :D

message 1336: by Savannah (new)

Savannah | 4 comments Howdy all! My name is Savannah and I am from Texas. I mostly read psychological thrillers/mystery books so I'm trying to expand my horizons by participating in this year's challenge. I followed the 2018 challenge very loosely - I found the goodreads group about halfway through the year and read maybe 5 books from last year's prompts but am planning on sticking to this year's!!

message 1337: by Rachael (new)

Rachael | 136 comments Hey guys, I'm Rachael from Scotland, and I'm currently studying psychology at university.

I'm not going to be doing the challenge in the traditional way, I've found the lists for all the years recently, and what I've done is used the prompts from all the years to create one long list for three reasons: to get myself back into reading (I don't read anywhere near as much since I've started uni), to make myself read the new books I own rather than just rereading my favourites, and to expand my horizons from what I usually read! I know that's not exactly the focus of this group, but I was thinking it would be good to share inspiration for some of the prompts!

message 1338: by Molly (new)

Molly (prestidigitation) | 6 comments Hi everyone! I'm Molly, a library assistant from New Jersey. I've always been an avid reader, but I feel like my enthusiasm for reading challenges has really ramped up in the last few years. I can't wait for the 2019 challenge to start.

message 1339: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacy78) | 6 comments Hello everyone! I'm Stacy from Cooperstown, NY. I found this group through the Facebook group. 2019 will be my first time doing the POPsugar challenge and I am so excited. I have been compiling a list of possible books to complete each prompt and I cant wait to see what everyone else is choosing to read, and get suggestions for the difficult prompts.

message 1340: by Tina (new)

Tina (trwriteratwork) | 42 comments Hi! I'm Tanvi, from India. This is my first time participating in the Popsugar Reading Challenge though I have participated in Reading Challenges before. I just went through all the prompts and jotted down the possible options from my very large TBR pile - hope this will help me get my TBR down! :)

Mel Murray (mel_murray) | 5 comments Hello! I'm Melanie, living in Australia. I've just found the POPsugar challenge and have found that I can tick off quite a few categories off the 2018 list (with a month and a half to spare). I am looking forward to the 2019 one as well. I'm thrilled to bits to find this group for the book club/discussion aspect too :)

message 1342: by Angela (new)

Angela | 13 comments Hi all! I'm Angela and I am from South Carolina. I joined this group last year before the 2018 challenge, but didn't participate and didn't do the greatest job with the challenge either! I plan to participate more in 2019 and hopefully that will help complete the challenge. I have always been a reader, but only over the last few years have I branched out and started reading new things. Hoping the challenge will help this year. Looking forward to it!

message 1343: by Josie (new)

Josie Lacey | 82 comments Hi everyone! I'm Josie and I'm a primary teacher from the UK. I took part in this challenge this year, but didn't discover the Goodreads group until recently and haven't gotten around to introducing myself yet. I'm excited to broaden my reading horizons in 2019!

message 1344: by Melanie (new)

Melanie | 2 comments Hi,
I'm Melanie. I'm a single mom (by choice) of a wonderful 8 year old boy. I'm on track to read about 100 books in 2018 and always looking for a new challenge. I'm hoping 2019 will be another great year of reading.

Hello to all the new members! I wanted to second Sara's suggestions here. I particularly enjoy the weekly check-in thread and would love to see you all there! You don't need to only check in with Challenge books but any book that you read in the past week. Those of us who already finished last years challenge are still checking in there. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

And since I have never formally commented in this thread, I suppose I should also say hello! I'm Brittany and this will be my second year doing the challenge. This year I think I'm going to tackle popsugar and the ATY challenge. Really looking forward to starting again!

message 1346: by May (new)

May Mcvicker (maymcvicker) hi, I've been on goodreads for many years. after my daughter was born 4 years ago I suffered from post partum depression and severe anxiety, I stopped reading. 4 months I deactivated my Facebook and picked up a book and joined goodreads reading challenge. at the end of July I set a challenge for 30 books by end of the year, I'm 2 from it and fell in love with reading again so I decided in 2019 I'd try my first real reading challenge. I've found out I love mystery psychological thrillers and some horrors so im.hoping maybe a challenge like this will show what other books I'm missing out on. I'm excited and can't wait to contribute to all the conversations going on here

Welcome May! I stopped reading and then started Goodreads and Book challenges under very similar circumstances. I'm glad you're feeling better because that is so hard. Reading has been a great distraction for me and I've found so many great people and genres and books here. Enjoy your challenge and the group 😊

message 1348: by Stéphanie (new)

Stéphanie (stephaniesbooks) | 16 comments Hi everyone, my name is Stephanie and I am from Montreal, Canada. I have always loved reading, my favorite genres being fantasy, historical fiction, and romance. I am looking to broaden my horizons when it comes to genres and I thought the upcoming 2019 challenge would be perfect for me. I can't wait to start!

message 1349: by SadieReadsAgain (new)

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments Hi to all the new faces! You've come into such a positive and active group, and I second the recommendations to post on the threads created for the individual prompts and the weekly check-ins. There's a different question to answer each week, and it's nice to see who is reading what, and what they thought of it. Plus, there's always a random tangent that springs up (like whether insects are animals...?)

I don't think I ever actually introduced myself here, actually. I'm from Scotland, work for the health service and have three sons. I discovered PS in the 2017 challenge (which I didn't complete), but only found this group when the 2018 list was released. I just finished the challenge yesterday. My passion for reading has been reignited by it, and by joining in with this group. This year I'm doing the challenge again, but also trying to do a couple of other ones too...be warned, this stuff is addictive!

I had a goal to complete 30 books this year before my 30th birthday in 2 weeks and I just completed it! *Pats own back* I'm excited to start this challenge, I love challenges and making goals. Wish me luck on my journey, see you along the way :D
