Hi everyone! I'm Katie. I'm from Upstate New York as well so it's exciting to see quite a few new members who are from my area. I just finished grad school for a masters in public administration and haven't found a job yet, so I have nothing but time to read while I job hunt. It's been a long time since I've managed to read more than a few books for leisure in a year, so I'm shooting for 20 books this year but hope to go beyond my goal!

Hi everyone! My name is Claire and I'm from Toronto, Canada. I love reading, but kinda stopped reading for pleasure during university, where I was mostly devouring textbook after textbook. I've since graduated and I'm reading to get back into it! I just finished The Bees by Laline Paull and really enjoyed it!
Hi, I'm Kacey. I'm from Puyallup, Washington and work at the library. This will be my first year doing this challenge even though i found it last year and meant to do it.While I love to read most of my reading in the last couple of years has been fanfiction. And when i do read a book it is usually by an author I already know and love. I'm hoping by doing this challenge I can branch out and find new authors and genres I don't normally go to.
Hello! Mary Jo here. I may be slightly insane, but I'm actually doing two reading challenges simultaneously. Granted, there will be LOTS of crossover from this one to the other but still. I was originally planning to read five books each from 12 different genres (60 total books) and that list of "possibles" is already set up. Then my daughter reminded me of the Popsugar challenge we did a couple of years ago so I decided "Why not?!" Thankfully, most of the ones on this challenge list will also fill spots on my self-generated challenge. But I have lots of reading to do so if you'll excuse me . . .
Hello! I am Lyza from the Philippines :)After completing my reading goals for 3 years, I decided to look for reading challenges to make me explore different genres and I found the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge at pinterest and here I am!
I am planning to read 70+ books from this year, I like contemporary romance so this is quite exciting.
I hope to get a recommendation and help from all of you!
Let’s start reading!
Hi there! My name is Alex and I have done some reading challenges off and on for a few years now. This one seems MUCH more conducive to my workload, as it lasts the whole year.
I'm a math teacher in Gainesville, Georgia, and am currently working on a PhD in mathematics education. This is a good chance for me to try to find some extra purpose to get through education and philosophy books, while sprinkling in some fun reading along the way.
Looking forward to participating!
Hi All!My name is Deane and I'm excited to be doing my first reading challenge! I just moved to North Carolina and have not yet found a book group to join here, so the reading challenge and this group will have to do for now. I mostly read fiction but occasionally throw in some weightier non-fiction. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading to fit this year's different categories. Happy reading!
Hi, my name is Jessica and I live in San Antonio, Texas. I’m the mom to one Shitzu and I teach 21 fourth graders?
Hi. My name's Trish, and I'm from London, England. I found out about this challenge as it was referred to in a different group I'm a member of (Cozy Mysteries). I also participate in a couple of other challenges, as it breaks me out of my go-to genres of mystery/crime, fantasy/urban fantasy, spec fiction and history.Even though I work with words for a living (I'm a financial editor by trade), I still spend quite a lot of my spare time reading. I also enjoy photography and cooking.
Hi!! I live in Northern Virginia. There are so many post i couldn’t possibly read them all. But i am enjoying reading the random discussions about the various books. Thanks to the challenge i have tons of books i want to read. Before this year i read occasionally but it will take a back burner to my busy mom life. I’m finding i need this to get away from the real world. I also would only really urban fiction because that’s all i knew. This challenge is opening to more interesting and fun books to read. Super excited to at least more than 2 books this year. I’m finding it relaxing.
Hi Everyone! Peggy checking in... I love to read! It is my escape and the place I go to relax. I am from Eastern NC and excited to try this challenge. I get bogged down as to what to read next and love to have a direction. Also, it will be interesting to try a few new genres. My favorite books have been new fiction, historical fiction, and classics.
Jessica wrote: "Hi, my name is Jessica and I live in San Antonio, Texas. I’m the mom to one Shitzu and I teach 21 fourth graders?"Hey Jessica! I am from San Antonio as well! :)
Hello! My name is Keri and I live in San Antonio Texas! I did the Popsugar Challenge in 2015 and for the last two years I have been doing a different challenge here on Goodreads. I usually don't complete every prompt but it sure is fun finding books for each one and seeing how far I get! My main challenge is to read at least 52 books this year. I am married and have a 2 year old daughter, three dogs and two cats! The thing I love most about these challenges is that it helps me discover and read books that I probably wouldn't normally pick up. I mostly enjoy historical fiction, chick lit, mystery and lately YA fantasy. Happy to be here!
Hello! I'm Miranda, and I'm a librarian from Illinois. I've never done the Popsugar Reading Challenge or any reading challenge before, but it's been fun to look at the prompts and trying to decide what to read. I've been reading a lot of non-fiction lately so I'm glad I have this challenge to encourage me to change up my reading habits! I'm trying wherever possible to use books that I already own to fill the prompts, since I have a bad habit of buying books and then not reading them for years!
Hey y'all! I'm Will, I'm 27, I'm a school counselor, and I live in Nashville, TN. I found out about this group/reading challenge through a friend, who, at the end of 2017, learned about the challenge, and she wanted me to join her in reading more books in 2018. I typically have been a voracious reader but, with being a college then grad student and with the rise of Netflix, Hulu, etc., I've been abysmal at being committed to reading. But I'm making an attempt.Generally speaking, I love YA; general fiction; celebrity advice offering/inspirational/memoirs (a la, Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person); and the occasional nonfiction. I especially appreciate when books contain LGBTQ+ themes, characters, etc. I have a hard time with dense historical texts. I'm very excited to expand my reading selections (by choice) outside of these genres and participate in this challenge.
Hello all, Cheryl here. First year doing this. I did a similar challenge last year in an effort to actually make myself sit still and read. I love this idea as I'm goal oriented and ticking off a book makes me feel accomplished. Plus it will expand my reading horizons so I don't get stuck in a rut. ;)
Hello! :) My name is Ami. I'm a 38 year old freelance artist who gets to enjoy working at home with the help of Velcro Italian greyhound Ginger Cake and a big bun boy named Lucky. My all time favorite things to read are horror novels. I love B-movie vibes, giant killer animals / insects, sea creatures, and anything paranormal (super sucker for ghost stories!). I also am big in to pulps specifically from the 30's and 40's. I love the hard-boiled noir detective. <3 Aside from those two genres, I read a lot of nonfiction: anthropology (focus on early human origins), archeology, paleontology, astronomy (as well as space travel in general), and sciency things like neurosciences, DNA, evolution and genes. I also enjoy reading "pseudoscience" and "pseudohistory" topics. I think it is fun to see people thinking outside of the box with their theories.I love reading, but I have a really hard time reading things that aren't in those categories. D: It's not that I think other topics are bad, I just have a really hard time feeling interested by them. This is my first time doing this challenge. I don't know if I can pull off the whole list in one year, but I'm going to try. I am hoping that this list will help me feel more adventurous with what I read! *crosses fingers*
Hi everyone! My name is Shamber. I live in Austin, TX. This is my first go at the challenge. I love to read, so this should be fun. Suggestions are welcome! :) Happy reading!
Hi, Y'all my name is Marcie. This is my first year participating in a book challenge and joining a group here as well. I found this challenge while looking for my words of the year. My sister and I are taking on the challenge together, which I think will be great fun. I've started two books and are just looking for ideas of each individual challenge. I have found many and added them to my TBR list. I'm taking the Spring semester off before transferring college, plus we are in the middle on a cross-country move. Looking forward to sharing books and discussions.
Hi all! :)I'm Carolina, 27, from Portugal and excited to be a part of this challenge. I'm hoping that this year I finally complete my Goodreads Reading Challenge of 30 books. Maybe I can check more than one item in this list, just with one book (or do you think it's "cheating"? :p)
Good readings to all of you! Suggestions are welcomed!
Hi all! Sorry I'm a bit late to the party. I'm Fay. I'm 18 and living in England.
Hopefully I can get my hands on lots of new books this year :)
Hi! I'm Traci from Wisconsin in the US. This challenge was recommended to me by a friend after I gave up on Book Riot's. Looking forward to exchanging ideas about books to read.
Wooowowow, this thread goes all the way back to 2014! A little late to the party... as is true for me in real life too ;)But hi, I'm Lauren and I'm from Vancouver, Canada. I've been active on Goodreads for a couple of years, was really active in 2016 but last year really wasn't my year for reading, and hence, I wasn't reviewing or interacting on Goodreads. Now that I'm active again, my friends on GR are like, who dis?
SO, if anyway wants to be Friends, please, please feel free to add me. It would be nice to get to know some of you, all that much better.
Super pumped to do this challenge! Happy reading :)
Hi everyone, I'm Dottie from Florida. I'm a retired/disabled RN so I have plenty of time to read, and I do a lot of it! I always have and hopefully always will! I am also doing a monthly challenge with another group, but I just finished all those. I'm hoping to be able to do both this one and any other ones that group does without overlapping. I'm enjoying the diversity of books, it nice to step outside of our normal choices and explore all these other great books. I have already read some great ones this month. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and seeing some interesting book suggestions! These groups and discussion boards are where I hear about authors and books I never heard of.

Hi Carolina! My parents are from Portugal, I am first generation born in US. I would love to go back and visit, it has been so long..... I even went to boarding school in Faro for a short time. Now I can barely speak the language as we never used it at home, and both my parents have passed. One of my goals is to brush up on it and get my language skills back! Where are you in Portugal?
Hi. My name is Nikki. I'm a stay at home mom, currently, to two girls. I recently moved to VA from CA and having a difficult time adapting to my new environment. I used to be a constant reader, but having children put that on the back-burner (not the least of which because pregnancy and motherhood seems to have broken my brain and given me the attention span of, well, a two year old). After moving and being stuck in the home for 4+ years, I was looking to do something that would allow me to feel more like myself and I stumbled across this challenge. Generally I read books relating to genetics, evolution, psychology, but last year I started reading more fiction books (mostly in the thriller category) and I'm hoping that this challenge helps me find new authors and genres. I have to admit, though, both books I've finished so far for this challenge had to do with science topics (oops!). I do want to go back to school when my kids hit school age to get a teaching credential to teach high school science, so those science books won't hurt in the long run, I suppose. I'm very excited to get to know new characters, those doing the challenge alongside me and those in the books I'll be introduced to! :)
Hi, everyone! I'm Misty, a nomad living in Georgia. I'm committing myself to the challenge and hoping that by introducing myself, I'll feel obliged to stick to it :). My current reading list doesn't hit every book, but I think I'll be able to tick most of the titles off (and I know other books will creep their way onto my list).
Hi! My name is Jitka and I'm from Czech Republic. It's my first time doing this challenge so I'm very curious how it'll go. :)
Hey all. This is one of my first groupgroups to join and I am so looking forward to completing the reading challenge. I love most personal memoir type of stuff and true crime. I am 33 and soon to be an English teacher overseas.
Hello, We are Maria and Luna, a mother/dog-daughter reading team from the Chicago area. I'm 50, with 2 teens in high school and a 7 year old golden doodle who is my constant companion. Yes, I actually do read out loud to her at times (she is a most sophisticated audience). I am a former city planner and professor who exited the working world to take care of my kids, and am contemplating a re-entry. I've volunteered at libraries and schools and have thought about becoming a librarian or a book store employee (used to work for Borders--anyone remember it?). Or might look into reading to children in hospitals or to rescued dogs, who knows? In the meantime, I am hoping to expand my range outside of YA and children's fiction although I adore these genres. This challenge seems like a good way to start. And Luna's on board as long as her walks & naps aren't interrupted.
Hi guys, I'm Iulia, I'm from Romania and currently live in Bulgaria. I love the prompts from this challenge, really looking forward to sharing the fun with everyone in the group. Happy reading!
Hi! I’m Aimee... have been a member of this group for awhile. I am from Oklahoma but now live in the Finger Lakes region of New York and am a proud “dog mom” of four rescue pugs. I only found the 2017 Popsugar Challenge in November, so I couldn’t finish but I had fun fulfilling a few of the prompts. I’m excited to start the 2018 challenge at the beginning of the year. Definitely planning to read some books I wouldn’t have otherwise selected.
Hi, I'm Sarah from New Hampshire. I've never done a challenge but I love reading. I'm excited to join this challenge and chat with new people. I would love some great recommendations!
Hello, I'm Shannon from Alabama. This is my fourth year to do the challenge and I get better every year. Last year, I was short one category so I plan to better myself this year. My favorite part of the challenge is how it makes me read things I would not have chosen on my own. I have made my list so I'm ready to go!
Hello all, I'm Cyndy, currently in the Charleston, SC area. I'm turning 60 this year and hopefully I'll still be nice as it gets closer! I generally read spy / thrillers, mystery, and memoirs. I work full time and watch way too much TV, or I would read way more than 60 or so books a year! I started the PS reading challenge in 2015 in another GR group and continued in that group the last two years(non-PS challenge). I also belong to a book club with several neighbors. Looking forward to reading some of the group monthly selections. PS - mostly a lurker :-)

Hi All fellow reading buddies. I live in Brooklyn NY. I decided to push myself to read books I might otherwise skip over. What is everyone's first book on the challenge?
Amy wrote: "Hi All fellow reading buddies. I live in Brooklyn NY. I decided to push myself to read books I might otherwise skip over. What is everyone's first book on the challenge?"My first book of the year was Matilda by Roald Dahl for the prompt “childhood classic you’ve never read.”
Hello Everyone! My name is Kim and I'm from Springfield, Missouri. I'm an avid reader and my favorite genre, judging by my Nook library, is Fantasy. I actually have a goal of attempting to complete not just the 2018 Popsugar Reading Challenge, but the challenges from 2015, 2016, and 2017 too. That's a total of 192 prompts! I want to attempt this because I want to work on expanding my horizons and flexing my bibliophile muscles; I'm looking forward to enlarging my literary comfort zone. While I might not complete all of the challenges from the previous years this year, I'm looking forward to the experience.
Hi everyone! I'm Javi and I'm from Chile (which is in South America).I'm a girl that adores reading all kinds of books and this year I decided to challenge myself and actually commit to a reading challenge. I hope we all have fun doing this and I'm sorry if I make any mistakes with the grammar or somthing like that. I like to believe I manage pretty well in English but is still a second language for me so bear with me.
Hello everyone! My name is Dana and I'm from Czech Republic. In the past years, I participated in a few Czech book challenges, which involved 20 books a year, but I decided to "step it up" this year. I know I joined a bit late, so I'm not sure if I can complete all 50 prompts, but I'm definitely excited to try and maybe broaden my reading horizons a bit in the process. :)
I want to say that for all the people who do not use English as their first language, they do a wonderful job of posting. Leona
Hello, I’m Lisa, retired and living full time as a wandering RVer. I’ve joined this group as I am stuck in a rut of reading the same types of books. Hopefullly this will broaden my horizons.

that sounds like the kind of thing I'd enjoy. I read to a young family member who was hospitalized/gravely ill last year. It was, I think, a good thing for her and for me. I'd like to do that again.

Javi you do great!! Your grammar is better than a lot of people who only know English as their language their whole life. Just read facebook posts and it is appalling! Keep up the great work, and good luck on your challenge!

Hello, all! My name is Serena and I'm from the Southern Tier in Upstate NY. I work as management at a movie theater and as a community college writing tutor. I stumbled upon the popsugar challenge by chance just recently - and noticed that many of the prompts already align with my personal reading goals for 2018. Hopefully it'll give me further motivation to complete my Goodreads goal (left unfinished last year) and also keep my reading fresh. I have a tendency to get bogged down in the dense, academic texts I love - but then never finish.
Hi everyone! I’m Sheila and I’m 33 years old. I’m originally from Philippines and I currently live and work in Luang Prabang. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage city in the northern part of Laos. I work here in the tourism industry.I stumbled upon this challenge while browsing Facebook. I loved reading since I was kid. I started with Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys and Sweet Valley High books and progressed on to YA, historical fiction and fantasy books. I usually read 4-5 books at a time to keep me going if I get bored with one book.
I’m excited to join and share my thoughts about books we’ll be reading.
Hi I'm Madison from Michigan! I just found the 2018 reading challenge. I didn't know this was a thing. I'm trying to hit my goal of 18 books this year, so this will give me a good push to broaden my horizons! I've never done anything like this and I'm not sure how active I'll be in the group. But definitely excited to use it for ideas from the list of challenges!
