Hey fellow Scot! I'll be interested to see who you pick for the local author prompt.

message 852: by Juliann (new)

Juliann Whicker | 1 comments So excited to read more this year. Can't wait to get started! So far, I'm going to read Neill Gaiman's STardust for the book made into a movie. I haven't actually read anything by him, so that's #1 that needs to be remedied!

message 853: by Lulu (new)

Lulu | 2 comments Hi everyone! I'm Lulu, a 20 year old girl living in Barcelona. I've never done this reading challenge, very thrilled to start.

message 854: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 12 comments Hi, I'm Nancy. I live in Westchester County, NY and work as a pharmacy tech. I love to read and took the popsugar challenge in 2017 but I need a better way to keep track of which books I've read and which ones I need to read. I also take the Goodreads reading challenge. I exceeded my total this year so I am increasing the number for 2018.

Nicki (italyano2) | 1 comments Hi! I’m from Illinois and found the group via FB. Someone mentioned it and I checked it out! I’ve never heard of the challenge until recently and am super excited to start the challenge in January. Thanks for letting me join and I can’t wait to see what you all have to recommend for books to help me where I’m stuck!

Hi Lulu, I've never done this challenge either - what do you plan on reading for the local author prompt? :)

message 857: by Rebecka (new)

Rebecka | 24 comments Hi everyone! My name is Rebecka and I'm from Sweden. I'm a broad reader, there are only a few genres I try to avoid ;) I tend to borrow most of the books I read from the library, and I work hard not to go bonkers inside bookshops. Occasionally I do go absolutely bonkers and end up buying more books than I can carry.

I'm new to Popsugar, and curious to see if I manage to finish this challenge. This will be my third book challenge ever. My very first challenge was to read only women for an entire year, which made me aware of the disproportionate amount of male authors for certain non-fiction categories. I joined my second book challenge this year here on Goodreads, it had 20 categories and I enjoyed it.

I'm excited to see what you all will be reading and I have a feeling that my to read list will grow tremendously :)

message 858: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Shannon (rachshan) Hi everyone! I'm Rachel from North Carolina! I'm not an avid reader, but I have picked up more books in 2017 than ever before so I wanted to challenge myself this year as I have enjoyed reading so much. I generally enjoy True Crime and Thrillers, with the occasional book of motivation thrown in there. Can't wait to see what everyone reads and accomplished this year!

message 859: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen | 1 comments Hello! My name is Kathleen and I’m from Brooklyn, NY. In 2016 I did the popsugar challenge and missed it by 2 books! And in 2017 I was planning my wedding most the year so I didn’t do much reading unfortunately. So I’m very excited for this challenge in 2018 and I’m determined to check them all off!!

message 860: by Susan (new)

Susan A. (suzsoccer) Hi ya'll from Bedford, Texas. (In between Dallas and Ft. Worth) I teach high school IB/GT/AP English III and love reading. 3 years ago I made the decision to read more non-fiction and definitely love that genre now. The 2018 challange will be a great guide to broaden my reading horizons as well as serve as a model for my students to follow. Looking forward to it!

message 861: by Dana (new)

Dana Tyrrell | 2 comments Hello all! My name is Dana and I am from Buffalo, NY. This is my first time hearing about/ doing the PopSugar Challenge and I'm very excited about it. I usually read art books (monographs, historical, theoretical, biographies) and thrillers, so this will be a good challenge.

Samantha Trillium (Just Reading in the Rain)☂ (trillium25) | 4 comments Hi, my name is Samantha. I am from a small town north of Toronto, Ontario. I have browsed the Pop Sugar challenges each year but this is the first year I read the challenges and thought I had a fighting chance. I am definitely one of those people who buy more books than she is able to read, so I am really hoping to be able to use most of the books I already own for most of these challenges!

message 882: by Laura (new)

Laura (laera_v) | 9 comments Hi! I'm Laura from North Carolina. I've been a "lurker" in the group for a while and have made a new year's resolution to be more active in my reading! I participated in the 2017 challenge and am just three books away from completing the advanced challenge. I currently work in circulation at a public library and will be applying to library science school in the fall. I love young adult fantasy and books with LGBT characters! Reach out to me if you have library-related questions or would just like to say hello - I know a lot about digital resources such as Overdrive and RB Digital :)

message 884: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 5 comments Hi all! I'm Adriana, from Colombia. I'm currently living in Hungary and i'm eager to shake off the reading slump I've been on for a couple of years now, and start reading and reviewing again! I'm not just using the 2018 Popsugar prompts, but also some of the ones from past years as extra credit... although that might be overly optimistic of me at this point. Anyway. I'm glad to be here and I'm looking forward to discussing books with all of you!

message 888: by Mary (new)

Mary | 4 comments Hi, looks like my post didn't make it. Don't know why. Perhaps for the same reason that I can't find the challenge list. I'm tech challenged. ANywho, I in Towson, MD, and am up for the challenge. I'm going to cheat and check off some of the reads on this challenge AND the 2018 Libby read harder challenge. Happy new year, everyone. Let's read!

I'm definitely going to be using books for this and the 2018 Beat the Backlist Challenge. I'm curious to know what the 2018 Libby Challenge is (Not that I "need" to add more books to my reading list for 2018.)

Wendy Aughe Hello - I am Wendy, a mother of three girls and a grandmother of one beautiful granddaughter - yes my husband is outnumbered by the girls in our family. I am blessed to work from home right now and am working to turn my part time business into a full time one.

I used to be an avid reader and hope this challenge gets me back to reading more this year. My favorite genre is historical fiction and my favorite book is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. Although A Man Called Ove is a close second.

I belong to a book club that has expanded my readings the past two years and I look forward to this challenge - I hope to complete the 40 list.

I have always been an avid reader, though recently have tended to stick to the same authors, so looking to use this to broaden my reading selection a bit :-)
