Rachel Whalen | 13 comments Hi everyone!
My name is Rachel and I'm a student in Newfoundland, Canada studying sociology and political science. I've always loved to read but find I always get sucked into TV or something instead of reading. These past few months I've been trying to be conscious of that and set aside time to read every day, even if it's just a chapter.
I don't really stick to one genre; I just read whatever sounds interesting really!
My favourite books are Harry Potter and A Thousand Splendid Suns.
Happy reading!!

message 702: by Iryna (new)

Iryna Hi guys!
I'm Iryna, I am Ukrainian though I've been living in Spain for 14 years. I´ll be trying the PopSugar challenge for the first time and definitely will try to complete it, just to try different genres. My favourite authors (at least at the moment) are Mark Lawrence and John Gwynne.
Happy winter and good luck with your challenges!

message 703: by Angela (new)

Angela Moser | 0 comments Hi all!
I am Angela from New Bern, NC! 2018 will be my third year doing this challenge, but my first year as a member of this group. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading and getting some great ideas! :o)

message 704: by Tara (new)

Tara (tjgpages) | 3 comments Hi everyone! I'm new to this challenge but think it sounds like a lot of fun. I'm Tara, and although I was raised in the Midwest I'm pretty much a New Yorker - I moved here 16 years ago and now live in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx. I'm 39, and am a wife, a mom to a rad 3.5-year old, a runner, and I work in Manhattan in contracts management (I'm a lawyer, but shhhh, don't tell anyone). I love dystopian fiction, novels set in NYC, and am working through the Pulitzer Prize winners for fiction.

message 705: by Julia (new)

Julia Keizer | 6 comments Hello everyone.
I'm a stay at home mom and heard about this challenge from Kristina on my blog, so I figured I would give it a try. I have never done a reading challenge before, but it seemed interesting, and I review books so I figured it would be easy to pick books for the challenge while reviewing them as well.
I'm From Nova Scotia, Canada. And love to read.
Can't wait to get started on the 2018 challenge.

ishaan (ishaan119) | 1 comments Hi I am Ishaan,
I have created a website that analyze your Goodreads books and give you insights into how many books you have read from each country, how many male and female authors you have read. Also it will recommend you books from countries from which you have never read a book before.
I would love if you check it out and give me some feedback.

message 707: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Hello to everyone! I am Cindy from South Dakota. This is my first time doing the PopSugar challenge. I am looking forward to 2018 reading list. It can be too easy to read the same type of books and get stuck in a rut. I could not find this group in the Goodreads community. I found it through a Google search.

message 708: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (coloradocheryl) | 0 comments Hi to all! I am Cheryl from Colorado. I'm a recently retired grandmother to 2 (soon to be 3). I used to read all the time before career, children, and graduate school got in the way. I'm hoping this challenge will rekindle my love of reading and give me ideas for books I wouldn't normally read.

message 709: by Chris (last edited Nov 29, 2017 06:19PM) (new)

Chris Agne | 7 comments Hi Everyone! I'm Chris from St. Louis, MO (USA). I turned 40 this year, and am working on a crafting a great "2nd Act". I've started the reading challenge for the past 2 years, and didn't get very far. But, completing the challenge is one of my New Year's resolutions. Also, due to my schedule and my current job (lots of driving), most of my reads will be audiobooks.

message 710: by Jocelyn (new)

Jocelyn | 2 comments Hello
I'm a happily married 40 year Homeschool mom of 4. We own a couple acres in the middle of nowhere KS we have a pack of dogs and a flock of chickens. I've been so busy teaching my kids and tending to my animals that I've gotten away from reading. Now that my kids are older and can work more independently and help with chores I'm trying to get back to taking care of me. I'm hoping this challenge will help me get back into reading and expand my horizons.

message 711: by Sofia (new)

Sofia Hello!
My name is Sofia, a 27 year old woman living in Sweden. I found this challenge when I googled reading challenges after hearing people talk about it on youtube/booktube. I wanted to challenge my reading and this sounded fun. I will try to complete as many challenges as possible. :)

message 712: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessicawilson0916) | 3 comments Hi! I'm Jessica from Houston, Tx. I've done the popsugar challenges in the past, but I'm really looking forward to the accountability and inspiration of this group! My favorite genres are historical fiction and mystery/thriller. Can't wait to get started!

Edie | 60 comments Greetings from Nashville, TN. My name is Edie. This is my 2nd year for this challenge. I should finish up the 2017 challenge by the end of year (it is one for several I worked on). I am avid reader and have enjoyed how the challenges push me to explore authors and genres that I wouldn't normally read.

message 715: by Lena (new)

Lena | 1 comments Hi everyone :) I’m Lena and I’m from Melbourne Australia. This is my first reading challenge and I’m very excited for the upcoming challenge. Looking forward to discussing everyone’s book choices

message 716: by Joel (new)

Joel Hi, all.

Joel from Texas, USA here. Constant reader making a first attempt at an "official" reading challenge (challenged self in 2017 to only read books by female authors). Looking forward to getting into some of the 2018 prompts, and eager to see what others are reading for some of the ones where I don't have a clue what to choose.

message 717: by Aly (new)

Aly (executivespooky) | 45 comments Ayyy. My name is Aly and I'm from Denver, CO. I never seem to be able to get on board with challenges, but having this community has me excited to try!

message 718: by Brooke (new)

Brooke | 5 comments Hi!
I am Brooke,
18 years old and from Australia.
I read mostly YA novels fantasy/romance mainly and I want to read more because I have been in a long reading slump and hoping to catch up with this challenge.

message 719: by Franzi (new)

Franzi | 7 comments Hello all, my name is Franzi, I am 32 and a married mum of 2 kids (3 and 4). We live in Germany, about an hour south of Berlin. I have loved reading for as long as I can remember and am beyond excited to start my first reading challenge next year.
I read wherever and whenever I can spare more than 2 minutes - in the car after dropping the kids at nursery and before entering the office for work, in the bath, even whilst cooking!
What excites me the most is the fact I will diversify the genres I am reading next year as I usually grab historic fiction or a thriller.
Happy Reading :)

message 720: by Dora (new)

Dora (missdora) | 2 comments Hi Everyone! I'm Melissa though lots of my friends call me by my nickname Dora. I'm 42 and live in rural North Western, Pennsylvania. As a stay at home mom that works from home, my life/work balance is all off kilter and I realized that this year I've rarely opened a book- So remedying this is my goal for 2018. The PopSugar list sounded like a great place to start. Looking forward to getting to know you all in the year ahead!

message 721: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey (abibliophagist) Hello! I'm Kelsey, I'm from Cleveland Ohio. I'm a freelance illustrator and avid reader! I did the Popsugar in 2016, but not last year ( I think it was posted later and I fell off the bandwagon!). I absolutely loved doing it and enjoy challenging myself to read different books than I normally do! I normally read SciFi. I've also for the last few years been reading the Hugo Award Winning novels in chronological order. I'm through the 70s!

message 722: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Elliott Hi everyone! I'm Nicole, 28 from Weymouth, Massachusetts. I have loved to read for as long as I can remember. These challenges make me read books I would normally overlook and I've found many that I loved!

I have been doing the reading challenges on my own for the last couple of years and I am excited to join this group and do the challenge with all of you!

Looking forward to all your thoughts and recommendations!

message 723: by Colette (new)

Colette | 4 comments Hi everyone! I am Colette from Pennsylvania. I am a married mother of 4 -and I work part-time in the library at my kid's school.
I grew up HATING to read! lol, Still is funny to me. I've been in a book club for years now and I love it because I read books I would never gravitate to naturally. I am not a fast reader because I am so busy but acknowledge I spend way too much time on my phone with FB & games that could be better spent in a book! I look forward to the 2018 Challenge. I 'v never done anything like this before.

message 724: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (cesteach) This sounds like so much fun! I'm excited to start the list! I've never done anything like this but I read all the time. I'm pretty busy but it will be a challenge to find ways to meet all the prompts!

I'm probably one of the oldest people here from reading the thread, but I love hearing perspectives from others at all stages of life. I'm a retired teacher and still work part time with people learning to be teachers. I have 3 grandkids who are becoming good readers so I'm excited to see this love of reading carried on in our family.

message 725: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 8 comments Hi! I'm Katherine from New York City. I'm excited for the reading challenge! I'm using it as a way to keep myself reading. I used to love reading but then I just stopped for a very long time. I'm trying to get back into the hobby :-)

message 726: by Verlkungen (new)

Verlkungen Hi everyone! I'm Victoria, from the UK. I kind of half did the 2017 challenge, not following it exactly or seriously but using it sometimes for ideas and diversity!
In 2018 I really want to try having a more diverse year, and I'm upping my goal a bit! I'm really excited to get some great recommendations for these prompts!

message 727: by Hillary (new)

Hillary Boyd | 1 comments Hi everyone! I’m Hillary from Tulsa. I used to love reading when I was younger, but in college I basically stopped. I think this would be a fun way to get back into it. I’m really excited! :)

message 728: by Jolena (new)

Jolena | 4 comments I'm Jolena, I am a huge reader of almost every genre, it depends on my mood what you'll find me reading. I am currently reading After You by JoJo Moyes, before that it was Atlas Shrugged (I love this book). I live in Ky, where I am a nurse in clinic setting where we provide healthcare for the homeless and underinsured, I also work weekends in a long term care facility, I really enjoy the work that I do. I use to read non stop but life, kids, nursing school and then work happened so I haven't been reading anywhere near as much as I did before, I am hoping that this challenge will change that and introduce me to some good books that I may have missed otherwise. Thank You

message 729: by Jonna (new)

Jonna (thejandjadventure) Hi All! I am Jonna, 34 years old (35 tomorrow!) and currently living in Connecticut. I am a food scientist and I have 2 children. I don't typically have an issue reading 30+ books in a year, but I rarely venture outside of the SF/F or Historical Fiction genres. I am excited to read "outside of the box" this year!

message 730: by Darlene (new)

Darlene (darlenetremblay) | 1 comments Hi Everyone, I am Darlene and I am from New Brunswick, Canada. I seen this challenge posted on Facebook and thought I'd give it a try. I never did a reading challenge before so fingers crossed that I can do it!! Good Luck Everyone!!

message 731: by Seneca (new)

Seneca | 3 comments Hi! I'm Seneca. I'm American but I live in Kuwait. I work for a very large retail company. I love reading and cooking. I previously lived in London where I was able to read two to three books per week but now that I'm in Kuwait, I can't manage to read one book per month. I'm hoping that having this group and this list will push me to read more. I love to read everything so I'm also looking forward to your suggestions.

Happy Birday @Jonna

Crystal (Goddess in the Stacks) (crystallinegirl) Hi everyone, I'm Crystal, I'm 35, I live in Maryland currently but I've also lived in Oregon, California, and North Carolina. Like a lot of people, I'm doing this challenge to help diversify my reading. I run a little book blog so I try to read a variety of things to review there, but I definitely focus on my old stand-bys of sci/fi fantasy with a dash of romance!
I'm also currently doing the Read Canadian Challenge, which runs from Canada Day to Canada Day, and I'm planning to do the Booked in 2018 Litsy Challenge. But this is definitely the biggest challenge I'm doing!

Susan Ballard (subakkabookstuff) (subakkastuff) | 1 comments Hi I'm Susan. I was born and raised in Wisconsin, but my husband's job moved our family to Texas. I homeschooled my kids, but they are on to college now. I am trying my hand at writing now. I have always LOVED reading- mainly fiction, but I just love to read. This is my first time trying the challenge, and I look forward to having others to converse with about books!!

message 735: by Nichelle (last edited Dec 07, 2017 09:08AM) (new)

Nichelle | 58 comments Welcome to all the new members. My name is Nichelle, currently residing in Virginia. Doing this challenge will definitely help you to diversify your reading. 2018 will be my third year. I have never finished it but I do enjoy reading different books and it helps having input from the group for the prompts. I'm determined to finish 2018, actually planned my reading this time. Hopefully, my different approach will help me finish. HAPPY READING!!

Jayanthi Mk | 1 comments Hi All.. I am Jayanthi from Bangalore, India. I am a semiconductor engineer and a mother of 2yr old girl. I came across this group in google and I'm excited to start the 2018 reading challenge

message 737: by Mia (last edited Dec 07, 2017 11:06AM) (new)

Mia Filippoff | 1 comments Hi I'm Mia, from the Bay Area in California. I loved reading growing up and read about a book a day but fell out of the habit a few years ago and am hoping to use this challenge as a way to read more often and read more books from different genres. I warmed up by re-reading all the Harry Potter books recently so hopefully I'm ready. 40 books sounds pretty daunting but I'm willing to give it a shot!

message 738: by Daria (new)

Daria | 2 comments Hello, my name is Daria, I'm a psychology student in Fribourg, Switzerland. I've always loved reading, but I'm struggling to do it now. I hope that joining this challenge and this group helps me begin reading again and discover new genres. Plus speaking about book is always fun!

message 739: by Mary (new)

Mary (abookwormwithwine) Hi Everyone!! My name is Mary and I live in sunny (most of the time) Colorado! I actually found out about the Popsugar 2018 reading challenge from another Goodreads group that I'm in - Suspenseful Clues and Thrilling Reviews book club. I knew that Popsugar did the reading challenges beforehand, but I have yet to participate in one. I figured why not do it in 2018 along with my book club. :)

I usually read adult mystery/murder/thrillers, but I have been trying to be more open minded lately and read some other genres. Just a few months ago I was exclusively reading YA only, time to change it up!

message 740: by Crumb (new)

Crumb | 395 comments I'm so excited to be a part of this group! I saw that a friend of mine was a member of this group..actually..hey there R.B.W..Mary.. She is right above this post, actually! Anyway, I wanted to join.. really I've been wanting to do challenges because this past year I didn't do any. I became really active in GR but I didn't do any reading challenges, and this year, I want to change that!

I read a wide range of novels, but I love women's fiction and historical fiction.

So happy to be a part of this group! Hi everyone!

message 741: by WVrambler (new)

WVrambler | 61 comments Hello, I'm Jenny from West Virginia. I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone and read something different this year, so this sounded like a good way to do it.

message 742: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 24 comments Hi everyone, I am Michelle from Virginia. I found out about this reading challenge when it showed up randomly on my Facebook page and immediately had to look into it. I've always been a voracious reader, but lately have found myself floundering a bit. I am going to use this as a kick in the butt to get myself back in the habit of reading more and forcing myself to expand my comfort reading zones. Hubby is a big reader too and is in on it.

message 743: by Amber (new)

Amber | 33 comments Hiya! I'm Amber from California. I am new to goodreads but I did the Popsugar Challenge in 2015 on my own and had a lot of fun with trying to find books to fit the prompts so I thought I'd give it another go. I have a tendency to reread books rather than try something new so this will be a good exercise for me. Currently almost done with a reread of the Harry Potter books, always a great fall back!

message 744: by Lyndall (new)

Lyndall (lewert) | 3 comments Hey there, from the Central Coast NSW Australia. I love to read pretty much anything but find that doing the challenges makes me swap it around a bit and read a lot of different genres. Work full time and have 2 adult kids. Commute to work daily so great chance to read on the train...loving it.

Just saw the challenge 2017 on Pinterest and loved the themes.
I started joining reading challenges in 2015 - and am loving it.
Actually quite a similar one:
https://www.lovelybooks.de/autor/Love...
Ever since the reading challenge I do read a book a week and am loving it. As I don’t have much time I have to make reading a priority just as most of us probably. I would like to read more in English so here I am...

Kind regards
naninka
