Tracy Parker | 1 comments Hello all! Just found this group on my lunch break! I love reading and have been a member of GoodReads for years. I am starting the 2017 challenge today, 11/2. But, I have read over 40 books this year, so I know a few will qualify for the list. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I'm Jenny, 27 now but will turn 28 in 2018, which is when I'll start the challenge! I'm doing it because I started doing reading challenges this year and enjoyed it, but by the time I'd found out about some of them I decided that it was probably too late to start a tbr. This is one of the challenges I missed out on, so am joining in next year in plenty of time!

message 603: by Julianne (new)

Julianne (missjulianne) | 7 comments I'm Julianne, working mom in NorCal Bay Area. I joined the group because I love to read and was looking for a way to diversify my reading palette and have adult conversations about something other than work and my commute.

message 604: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (elven) | 26 comments Hello, I'm Olivia. I'm 30 and live in a tiny town in Kentucky. There are no stoplights and more cows than people. I enjoy reading YA, mysteries and historical fiction.

I completed all but 10 or so on the 2017 Reading Challenge. I think the 2018 Challenge looks really good and I can't wait to get started!

message 605: by Anna (new)

Anna | 9 comments Hi, I'm Anna. I'm a graphic designer with two kids and I live in Indiana. I'll be 37 at the end of December. I love to read all kinds of books and usually average around 65 a year. I just heard about this challenge and thought it would be a fun way to pick books next year!

message 606: by Henna (new)

Henna (hennasbooks) | 5 comments Hello everyone, I'm Henna from Finland. I've been getting tips from this group for 2017 challenge all year, but just joined Goodreads this fall. This challenge has gotten me back to reading after several years of reading just a couple of books per year. I'm really looking forward to the next challenge!

message 607: by Haz (new)

Haz (harrietthereader) | 3 comments Hello Everyone!
Harriet here from the UK! I'm 30 years old. Loving YA, Mystery, Thriller, and Classics. Started Goodreads this year and wanting a challenge as I've read almost 50 books this year so I'm starting Popsugar in 2018, I always have trouble picking what to read so hopefully the challenge will help!

message 608: by A. (new)

A. Somers | 1 comments Hello, My name is Angel. This is my first time trying this type of group which means I will be learning along the way. I am a school media specialist so I spend a great deal of time reading books for elementary and middle school students. I am looking forward to the idea of pushing my reading habits into other areas during the Popsugar 2018 reading challenge.

message 609: by Erika (new)

Erika Chytilová | 1 comments Hi, I'm Erika and I'm from Czech Republic (it's in central Europe if someone doesn't know and it's no longer Czechoslovakia - we separated in 1993). I work as IT Specialist for IBM now but I love reading and I read almost every day - usually on my way to work ;-) I never tried this kind of challenge before so I don't know if I'll be able to finish it but I hope this group will help me with it. I can't wait to start Popsugar 2018 challenge. I already downloaded tracking sheet from Web. Also I'm looking forward to meet (even though only virtually) people with the same passion for books as I have. So happy reading and fingers crossed :-)

message 610: by Burcu (new)

Burcu (burcualtugyilmaz) Hi there, I'm Burcu and I'm from Turkey. I studied linguistics, I just graduated. Now I'm in a pedagogical formation training certificate program as I also wish to be a teacher :)

I realized that I became a slow reader and it disturbed me. I came into this challenge on Facebook and I LOVE challenges :) Also I thought it might be helpful to meet my next favorite book:) So I decided to join the group and try my best along 2018. I am planning to print the tracking sheet on Monday and start creating my reading list.

Looking forward to meet you guys <3

message 611: by Karen (new)

Karen (whosemuse) | 2 comments Greetings, I'm Karen, a 47-year-old Canadian librarian. I've completed my Goodreads challenge (48 books) for the past couple of years, and on pace to finish again. I've come to this Popsugar thing a bit late, so I plan to keep it in mind as I read my way through 2018. Question though, can I look through the Popsugar prompt list and make correlations with books I've already read in 2017? Wouldn't want to "cheat" or anything! Happy reading!

message 612: by Susan (new)

Susan (yetanothersusan) | 47 comments Hello all! I am Susan (obviously). I live in Northern California with a husband, son, and the world's most adorable dog (who loves to lay on my lap while I read). This will be my first foray into the reading challenge but I read about 250 books a year so I assume I can complete it! I've already started my spreadsheet and have added some books to it as suggestions of what I might like to read for some of the prompts.

message 613: by Kat (new)

Kat | 2 comments Hi all, I'm Kat. I just read about the 2018 Popsugar Challenge. I looked at the 2017 list and saw that I had read quite a few of them this year. I went ahead and entered them and will see what else I can get done for 2017 then start from scratch in 2018.

I discovered Overdrive and got back into Goodreads mid-September so my reading and audiobook listening has skyrocketed. I'm in a number of challenge groups. It's fun seeing how many challenges I can check off for each book.

message 614: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 4 comments Hi, I'm Andrea. I'm a stay at home mom in Raleigh, NC and I haven't been reading as much as I'd like to the past several years. I'm hoping that this challenge will help me make reading a priority again.

message 615: by Sara (new)

Sara Welcome to all the new members! There is a lot of activity right now since the 2018 was released. We have threads open for each of the 50 prompts where you can discuss and glean ideas for books (if you are a planner like me!).

Every week on Thursday we have a weekly check in thread where you can post what you've been reading lately (regardless of whether it is part of the challenge).

Jump in and have fun!

message 616: by Heather (new)

Heather | 1 comments Hi there. Major lurker here. I completed the 2016 challenge, and have just 3 categories left to complete this year's. Popsugar isnt the only one I have done -- this year I have nearly completed six different reading challenges. I listen to audiobooks as I have a brain injury, and cannot read print without getting very ill; ebooks aren't much better. I also cannot listen to music, as it triggers vertigo for me, so I listen to audiobooks when out in public, to drown out music in stores, etc. Chronic pain gives me insomnia, so some nights I cannot sleep, so end up just listening to books all night. This adds up to a whole lot of reading time -- usually a minimum of 10 hours a day, up to 20 hours on a really bad pain day. This year so far I am over 150 books. Please dont be intimidated by me -- I know most people have much more of a life than I do, lol. I've always been a big reader -- even as a teen I usually read an entire novel every evening after doing my homework. I love having the challenge lists to guide me into different books I might otherwise overlook. Looking forward to 2018 challenge! I got weirdly excited, in the way only a nerdy bookwork can, when I saw the new categories posted yesterday.

message 617: by Farah (new)

Farah (farbooksventure) Hello everyone! I'm Farah from Indonesia. I have been in love with reading since like forever. I'm still fairly new to goodreads though. I really like to discover new books and authors. My first reading challenge is on goodreads for the year of 2017. I found Popsugar reading challenge through goodreads twitter account. The prompts look promising. Totally looking forward to this reading challenge :D

message 618: by Isabell (new)

Isabell | 27 comments Hi, I'm Isabell from Germany. I found this challenge browsing though facebook and it seems to be a good way to cope with the endless struggle what to read next. I'm a 31 year old chemist with some reading addiction so I'm really looking forward to 2018. Will start planning soon :)

Greatings Isabell

message 619: by Alina (new)

Alina (linaslifeincolour) Hi :) I'm Alina, 16 (but turning 17 on Monday), and I'm from Germany. I'm still in High School, it's my second last year. I've spent 6 months living in Sydney, Australia as an international student earlier this year. I love reading so so so much! I've just started my own Booktube channel. I haven't read that many books this year, so when I found out about this challenge, I thought it would be a great idea to participate in order to read more next year.
Have a lovely day!
- Alina

Paula Bardell-Hedley (gaiabird) Hello everyone, I'm Paula from North Wales and I love reading all sorts of books. I'm really looking forward to starting the challenge in 2018!

message 621: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) Hello everyone! My name is Kerri and I live in sunny New Mexico. I love to read, obviously, but I've never attempted the Popsugar reading challenge. I like to broaden my reading horizons and this seems like a perfect way to do it! I'm looking forward to 2018 and all the potential suggestions from this group :)

message 622: by Naomi (new)

Naomi | 2 comments Howdy y'all! My name is Naomi and found the 2018 reading challenge via twitter. I always mean to diversify my reading, but getting out of my comfort zone, so I thought 2018 would be my year to accomplish this. Excited about reading the recommendations from others, and hope eventually I might be able to contribute something as well. Looking forward to a wonderful 2018!⚡

message 623: by SimitudeSims (new)

SimitudeSims | 0 comments My name is Michelle and I'm in Southern California. I'm married and retired so I fill my time with my favorite past time, reading. I am in 5 book clubs and a ladies lunch group. I can always deversify my reading material. I can't wait for 2018 now.

message 624: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (rattybluestocking) | 0 comments Hi, everyone. My name is Amanda, or Mandy. I'm starting the Popsugar challenge for 2018 and am really looking forward it. I've been trying to broaden my reading this last year. I've already printed the reading prompts and I plan on doing all of them. :-)

message 625: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (trickpony1820) | 68 comments Good evening, I'm Kristin from Pennsylvania. A little late to the group, though I've been gradually working through the challenge all year. Won't get all 52, as I often choose books that don't fit the categories, but the challenge has inspired me to read some books I wouldn't have otherwise chosen.

message 626: by Taiwo (new)

Taiwo | A Lifestyle Nerd (alifestylenerd) Hello. I'm Taiwo from Nigeria. I found out about this challenge today actually and I'm really happy to participate in this. It's going to be my first reading challenge!! My favourite genres are fantasy, YA and fiction.

message 627: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader Hello, I'm Deborah from Australia. I was at a Goodreads meetup on the weekend where two friends were talking about 'popsugar' reading challenge - having never heard about it, but being passionately involved in reading I am checking it out; thank Kathryn and Kerri!

message 628: by Ailsa (new)

Ailsa (ailsareads) | 6 comments Hi! I'm Ailsa, I'm 30 and I'm from Scotland where I live with my partner and two cats and work at a university. I refuse to ever grow out of YA fiction! I also enjoy thrillers and some crime novels, as well as contemporary fiction, and I'm a sucker for a good dystopian novel.

I also saw the Popsugar challenge mentioned on Facebook, and thought it sounded great. I already read a ton - I'm a fast reader anyway, and I've had a lot of health issues this year so haven't been working much. Hence the 165 read so far in 2017. But I'm looking to expand my reading horizons a little bit :)

message 629: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Hi there. Well, somehow I got deleted from the 2018 Challenge list. What did I do?

Tara Bates | 1008 comments What do you mean?

Tara Bates | 1008 comments You're there, it's just with so many people you have to try to remember which page yours is on. Scroll through, I just saw yours.

Paula Bardell-Hedley (gaiabird) Patricia wrote: "Hi there. Well, somehow I got deleted from the 2018 Challenge list. What did I do?"

Hello Patricia, I noticed your message in the 2018 thread but wasn't too sure how to help. I too am rather a technotard, so I empathise. Could you have inadvertently clicked delete rather than edit? I've done that before now. Would it be too much of a nuisance to post your message again? EDITED TO SAY: Oh good, I'm glad to see that Tara's sorted you out. Good luck with the challenge.

message 633: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments It's there, I looked for it :)

I saw you had come to the rescue, Tara. Well done! :-)

message 635: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments Haha well unfortunately it's not like Facebook so I can't tag her or anything but I can assure you Patricia that it wasn't deleted :) there's 2 pages so make sure you look at both

Martina Ferraina (smartiess) | 2 comments Hello everbody, I'm Martina, I'm 23 and I come from Italy.
I've always loved reading and I try to do it as much as I can, even though is never easy in between studying and working. I've found out about the Pop sugar reading challenge a few days ago and I'm super excited about it! I hope that thanks to it I'll have the chance to pick up some books and genres I wouldn't normally read and step out my literary "comfort zone" :)
Good luck to everyone with this challenge and let's enjoy it!

message 637: by Toni (new)

Toni Semmens (tonez_71) | 0 comments Hi :) I'm Toni and from beautiful Mount Maunganui in New Zealand. I am very new to goodreads and am super excited about the 2018 challenge. You will never find me without a book and my favourite thing to do at the moment is wander across the road to the beach with my book and sit a spell :)

message 638: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Well, I had posted the challenge prompts and added the books I planned on reading. When I went back to exit my books, I was no longer listed. Was #46.
Don’t know if I’m clearer this time. Hope so.

message 639: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Just saw your response. Been out all day. I’ll look again but I guess my number has changed. Does this happen every time you update? That would make sense. Thanks for helping!

message 640: by Patricia (new)

Patricia I’m going crazy here. I just checked and I’m back on the same number I was before all this happened. Please excuse all the drama.

message 641: by Patricia (new)

Hi everyone, I'm Pamela and I live in the UK. 2018 will be 3rd year of doing this challenge. I did it in 2015, skipped 2016 and am just finishing 2017. I like a lot of the prompts for 2018

message 647: by SimitudeSims (new)

SimitudeSims | 0 comments Hi, this is my first Goodreads reading challenge. I’m retired and reading is my passion. I already belong to 5 book clubs so,hopefully, I can incorporate some of those books into this challenge. I’m excited. This looks like fun.

message 648: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Edge | 2 comments Hi I'm Kathleen, I live in Auckland NZ. I did the reading challenge solo in 2017 as I started late, and didn't think I would finish. It was too easy so I am setting a higher goal for 2018, can't wait to get started.

Me too! I have always attempted but never completed. I tried this year and just didn't do it because there were a lot of book I wanted to read I couldn't make fit in the challenge. Although, I will have met my goodreads challenge of reading 50 books this year! I am going to try and give this popsugar challenge another try!
