Adam Campos | 6 comments I read this book and checked it out at poplar creek public library in Streamwood, IL, USA around 1993-1995. The book was published in English. It was an illustrated non-fiction seeming book in the kids section. Seemed late 80s maybe early 80s but could possibly be 90s. Was not a children’s book seemingly (not very colorful or zany or over the top). Art was realistic and drab maybe some color pics and lore or accounts accompanied pictures left or right on own separate pages. There were specific creatures (I think Bigfoot and maybe Loch Ness) but also happenings or references to haunted places maybe. Was like a non fiction guidebook about monsters. One image is an open field leading to the opening of a forest. Remember it potentially being called the monster book or book of monsters.

Adam, we've had a few requests for reference books on cryptids and cryptozoology. Try searching our discussion posts. For example:

Adam Campos | 6 comments Thank you for sharing, Kris. I appreciate the resources! I'm still trying to decipher if any of the books from the bestiary list are the one I'm referring to.

Adam Campos | 6 comments I just purchased "Learning About Monsters" by Alma Gilleo and I'm leaning toward that.

I may be melding that book along with "America's Very Own Monsters" by Daniel Cohen and maybe even "Spine Chilling Book of Monsters" by Rupert Matthews

I will get back to everyone and confirm whether or not these are the books or book I am trying to find.

Thank you all for your help!

Adam Campos | 6 comments "Learning About Monsters" is the book---though the open forest illustration is stuck in my head and I can't seem to get it out and it's not in this book. I thank you all for your help and I will figure that one out someday!

This book is incredible and rare and I'm happy to look at it and feel the memories flowing back in.
