Fantasy book: gods go silent and at the end its revealed that the war god was trying to take over

The main character of this book was the "Chosen One," I believe he was referred as that verbatim. He was a farmer I think, or some similar profession. There was a second person believed to be the chose one who could fly and I think had light magic, he was some form of noble I think. At the end the main character fights an army of zombies (or something similar) by following behind them and killing them one by one. They gods come back and I think kill the War God, it was noted that they were communicating more as if to make up for lost time.
