SOLVED. End of the world [s]

The cover is black. The book was about scientists getting kidnapped to prevent the end of the world. I guess the rest is spoiler so SPOILER ALERT i guess? There is this meteor/asteroid thing going towards earth and they have to do something to stop it. Another organization takes kids from the streets or something. I remember the main character was a guy that was like the leader of a gang sorta thing.This other organization is making rockets for the kids to go to space. Theres this other girl in the book that helps out the boy in the beginning and the guy starts liking her. In the end they go to space and the asteroid thing destroys most of the world and there are few survivors left. The kids in the space ship are supposed to go back to earth when its safe. I remember something about 20 kids in each rocket and there are like 5 rockets.
