SOLVED. Fantasy Series (Book 2 I think) Giant world tree that one of the main characters must travel up into.

This is the second book in the series I believe but the series name would help too. At the beginning section of the book there is a unicorn that appears and says a prophecy and then the unicorn either dies or gets killed. The main part I remember is that there is a massive world tree of sorts that one of the characters must travel up into for some reason. Strange creatures live in the tree as well as someone who heals the character I believe. I’m not certain but I think the story keeps cutting back to a character who is part bird and has found a community of other bird like people. Thank you for any help!
